The new industrial revolution, combining automation, digitalization of processes, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and big data, is deeply transforming the image of work in factories or on construction sites in various sectors. The construction industry is not an exception, with the emergence of 3D concrete printing. This additive manufacturing technology applied to these materials offers new perspectives in terms of part or building design while contributing to lowering production costs, notably through the speed of the manufacturing process. From an ecological perspective, it helps to reduce construction site waste by eliminating moulds/formworks. The adoption of this technology in this field would enhance the competitiveness of industries in this sector. In the cross-border Interreg FWVL area, the industrials of the construction sector in the broadest sense, including both the building and public works (BTP) sector and specialized constructions such as refractory materials, mainly consists of SMEs. To remain competitive, they search to reduce production costs rather than to focuse on innovation and diversification of their production. This is due to a fear of taking risks by investing in innovation as well as a lack of human and financial resources. In the field of 3D concrete printing, carrying out innovation projects encompassing the development of cement ink formulations, characterization methods, and the creation of 3D demonstrators to replace conventionally manufactured preshaped parts or buildings would help these SMEs to minimize risks in their investment in this type of innovation. This is within this framework the 3DFORMWORKS is contextualised. Its target is to produce complex-shaped parts in the field of construction and refractory materials using 3D printing technology for the outside shape of the part by creating a "stay-in-place formwork" with cement ink. Traditional concrete (BTP or refractory) is then casted into this formwork. This production method would be an alternative to the conventional moulding technique. It should lower production costs and increase productivity. Additionally, the 3DFORMWORKS project also aims to formulate "low carbon" cement inks through the use of alternative materials. This will contribute to the decarbonization of these SMEs by offering more environmentally friendly products while reducing construction site waste. The project also focuses on optimizing the 3D printing process of cement inks by researching the optimum machine parameters based on the complexity of the part and external conditions. The study of structure stability during printing using numerical simulation is also a part of the research program of 3DFORMWORKS. With the technical progresses of the project, interactive workshops and thematic seminars will be organized for the benefit of companies in the Interreg FWVL area, aiming to facilitate the knowledge transfer and skills from the research world towards the industrial one. Demonstration parts and/or case studies will also be carried out. To meet the project's expectations, the INISMa and BUILDWISE centres in Belgium, as well as the university laboratories IMT Nord Europe, CRIStAL, and LaMé in France, have decided to work in synergy to leverage their expertise and complementarity in the field of 3D concrete printing technology. The competitiveness cluster TEAM2 (FR) will assist these research entities for the dissemination and valorisation of the project results towards the targeted industries with the support of the competitiveness clusters GREENWIN and MECATECH (BE) with FEREDECO (BE) federation, ULiège (BE) and CERIB (technic transfert centre, FR), as well as the Green Concrete Group in Belgium (GBV, BE) and the Provincial Development Agency of West Flanders in Belgium (POM West-Vlaaderen, BE). Therefore, this project aims, on the one hand, to support companies in the construction and refractory materials sector in their technological transformation process by mitigating their risks by investing in these new production technologies and the development of new materials. On the other hand, it aims to strengthen innovation capacities in this field and in the cooperation zone through the collaboration of excellence centres in 3D concrete printing.

De nieuwe industriële revolutie, die robotisering, digitalisering van processen, kunstmatige intelligentie, augmented reality en Big Data combineert, verandert het beeld van werken in fabrieken en op bouwplaatsen in veel sectoren ingrijpend. De bouwsector vormt hierop geen uitzondering, met de opkomst van 3D-betonprinten. De op deze materialen toegepaste additieve productietechnologie biedt nieuwe perspectieven op het gebied van het ontwerp van onderdelen of gebouwen en helpt tegelijkertijd de productiekosten te verlagen door o.a. de productiesnelheid. Vanuit milieustandpunt helpt het ook om bouwafval te verminderen doordat er geen mallen en afgietsels meer nodig zijn. De toepassing van deze technologie zou het concurrentievermogen van bedrijven in de sector vergroten. In de interregionale zone van Interreg FWVL bestaat het industriële weefsel van de bouwsector in de breedste zin van het woord, d.w.z. zowel in de sector bouw- en openbare werken (BTP) als in de gespecialiseerde bouw, zoals werken met vuurvaste materialen, voornamelijk uit KMO's. Om concurrerend te blijven, richten zij zich op een breed scala van producten en diensten. Om concurrerend te blijven, richten ze zich op een strategische verlaging van de productiekosten in plaats van op een strategie van innovatie en diversificatie van hun productie. Dit komt door de angst om risico's te nemen door te investeren in innovatie, maar ook door een gebrek aan personeel en financiële middelen. Op het gebied van 3D-betonprinten zouden innovatieprojecten die de ontwikkeling van printbare cementgebonden mengsels en karakteriseringsmethoden omvatten, evenals de productie van 3D-demonstratiemodellen ter vervanging van conventioneel geproduceerde elementen, deze kmo's helpen om de risico's van hun investering in dit type innovatie tot een minimum te beperken. Dit is de achtergrond van het 3DFORMWORKS-project. Het is gericht op de productie van complex gevormde onderdelen in de bouw- en vuurvaste sectoren, waarbij 3D-printtechnologie wordt gebruikt om de buitenkant van een onderdeel te ontwerpen door een “verloren bekisting” in printbare cementgebonden mengsels te maken. Deze wordt vervolgens gevuld met traditioneel beton (bouw- of vuurvast). Deze productiemethode zou een alternatief zijn voor de conventionele giettechniek. De productiekosten zouden dalen en de productiviteit zou toenemen. Daarnaast is het 3DFORMWORKS-project ook gericht op het formuleren van 'koolstofarme' printbare cementen en mortels met behulp van alternatieve materialen. Dit zal bijdragen aan het koolstofvrij maken van deze KMO's door producten aan te bieden die milieuvriendelijker zijn en tegelijkertijd het afval op de bouwplaats verminderen. Het project richt zich ook op het optimaliseren van het 3D-printproces voor printbare cementen en mortels door de optimale machineparameters te identificeren, afhankelijk van de complexiteit van het onderdeel en de externe omstandigheden. De studie van de stabiliteit van structuren tijdens het printen met behulp van digitale simulaties maakt ook deel uit van het 3DFORMWORKS-onderzoeksprogramma. Naarmate het project technische vooruitgang boekt, zullen interactieve workshops en thematische seminaries georganiseerd worden voor bedrijven in de FWVL Interreg-zone, met als doel de overdracht van kennis en vaardigheden van de onderzoekswereld naar die van de industrie aan te moedigen. Er zullen ook demonstratiestukken en/of casestudies worden geproduceerd. Om aan de verwachtingen van het project te voldoen, hebben de centra INISMa en BUILDWISE in België en de universitaire laboratoria IMT Nord Europe, CRIStAL en LaMé in Frankrijk besloten om in synergie samen te werken om te profiteren van hun expertise en complementariteit in 3D-betonprinttechnologie. De competitiviteitscluster TEAM2 (FR) zal deze onderzoeksinstellingen bijstaan in het verspreiden en promoten van het werk dat uit het project voortvloeit naar de doelindustrie, met de hulp van de competitiviteitsclusters GREENWIN en MECATECH (BE), de federatie FEREDECO (BE), ULiège (BE), CERIB (centrum voor technische overdracht, FR) evenals de Groep Groen Beton in België (GBV, BE) en de Provinciale Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij voor West-Vlaanderen in België (POM West-Vlaaderen). Het doel van dit project is om bedrijven in de sector van bouw- en vuurvaste materialen te ondersteunen in hun technologische transformatieproces, door de risico's te beperken die ze zouden kunnen nemen door te investeren in deze nieuwe productietechnologieën en de ontwikkeling van nieuwe materialen. Ten tweede wil het de innovatiecapaciteit op dit gebied en in het samenwerkingsgebied versterken door kenniscentra op het gebied van 3D-betonprinten samen te brengen.

La nouvelle révolution industrielle mêlant robotisation, digitalisation des procédés, intelligence artificielle, réalité augmentée ou big data est en train de métamorphoser en profondeur l’image du travail à l’usine ou sur chantier dans de nombreux secteurs. Celui de la construction n’y échappe pas avec l’émergence de l’impression 3D de bétons. Cette technologie de fabrication additive appliquée à ces matériaux offre de nouvelles perspectives en termes de design de pièces ou d’édifices tout en contribuant à abaisser les coûts de production notamment via la rapidité du procédé de fabrication. D’un point de vue écologique elle permet de diminuer les déchets de chantier en supprimant les moules/coffrages. L’adoption de cette technologie dans ce domaine permettrait d’accroitre la compétitivité des entreprises du secteur. Dans la zone transfrontalière Interreg FWVL, le tissu industriel du secteur de la construction au sens large du terme, c’est-à-dire aussi bien dans le secteur du bâtiment et travaux publics (BTP) que dans celui des constructions spécialisées telles que les ouvrages en matériaux réfractaires, rassemble principalement des PME. Pour rester compétitives celles-ci restent sur une stratégie de baisse des coûts de production plutôt que sur une stratégie par l’innovation et la diversification de leur production. Cela est dû à une peur de prise de risque en investissant dans l’innovation mais aussi à un manque de moyens humains et financiers. Dans le domaine de l’impression 3D de bétons, la réalisation de projets d’innovation englobant aussi bien le développement de formulations d’encres cimentaires, de méthodes de caractérisation que la réalisation de démonstrateurs 3D en remplacement d’éléments réalisés de manière conventionnelle, aideraient ces PME à minimiser les risques au niveau de leur investissement dans ce type d’innovation. C’est dans ce contexte que s’inscrit le projet 3DFORMWORKS. Celui-ci cible la réalisation de pièces de forme complexe dans le domaine du BTP et du réfractaire par technologie d’impression 3D pour la conception de la forme extérieure de la pièce en réalisant un « coffrage permanent » en encre cimentaire. Dans celui-ci sera ensuite coulé un béton traditionnel (BTP ou réfractaire). Cette méthode de production serait une alternative à la technique conventionnelle par moulage. Les coûts de production en seraient abaissés et la productivité augmentée. De plus, le projet 3DFORMWORKS vise également la formulation d’encres cimentaires « bas carbone » par l’utilisation de matières alternatives. Cela contribuera à la décarbonation de ces PME en proposant des produits environnementalement plus vertueux tout en réduisant les déchets de chantier. Le projet s’attache également à l’optimisation du procédé d’impression 3D d’encres cimentaires par la recherche des paramètres machines optimaux en fonction du degré de complexité de la pièce et des conditions extérieures. L’étude de la stabilité des structures en cours d’impression par simulation numérique fait aussi partie du programme de recherche de 3DFORMWORKS. Au fur et à mesure des avancées techniques du projet, des ateliers interactifs ainsi que des séminaires thématiques seront organisés au profit des entreprises de la zone Interreg FWVL visant ainsi à favoriser le transfert de connaissances et de compétences du monde de la recherche vers celui de l’industrie. Des pièces de démonstration et/ou des études de cas seront aussi réalisées. Pour rencontrer les attentes du projet, les centres INISMa et BUILDWISE en Belgique ainsi que les laboratoires universitaires IMT Nord Europe, CRIStAL et LaMé en France ont décidé d’opérer en synergie afin de tirer profit de leur expertise et complémentarité autour de la technologie d’impression 3D de bétons. Le pôle de compétitivité TEAM2 (FR) assistera ces entités de recherche pour la dissémination et la valorisation des travaux issus du projet auprès des industriels cibles avec l’aide des pôles de compétitivité GREENWIN et MECATECH (BE), de la fédération FEREDECO (BE), de l'ULiège (BE), du CERIB (centre de transfert technique, FR) ainsi que du groupement du béton vert en Belgique (GBV, BE) et de l’Agence provinciale de développement de la Flandre occidentale en Belgique (POM West-Vlaaderen). Ce projet ambitionne donc d’une part d’accompagner les entreprises du secteur du BTP et des matériaux réfractaires dans leur processus de mutation technologique en atténuant les risques qu’elles pourraient prendre en investissant dans ces nouvelles technologies de production et le développement de nouveaux matériaux. D’autre part, il vise à renforcer les capacités d’innovation dans ce domaine et dans la zone de coopération via le regroupement de centres d’excellence autour de l’impression 3D de béton.

Actual Achievements (EN):

The ongoing industrial revolution, driven by robotisation and additive manufacturing, is profoundly transforming the construction sector. 3D printing of concrete, applied both to building structures and refractory applications, offers new perspectives in terms of design, production speed and waste reduction. The 3DFORMWORKS project, funded by the Interreg France-Wallonia-Flanders programme, supports this transition by developing low-carbon cement-based inks and solutions to optimise and improve the reliability of the 3D printing process. Since its launch in October 2024, the project has already achieved several significant milestones. The kick-off event, held in Mons on 28 January 2025, brought together 51 participants from SMEs, large companies, universities and institutions, confirming the interest of stakeholders in the cross-border area. An Industrial Steering Committee (COPIL) has been set up, already bringing together 11 members representing the refractory sector, the construction industry and machine manufacturers. In terms of communication, a dedicated LinkedIn page now has more than 130 followers and around ten publications. The project’s progress is also shared through its official website: https://www.3dformworks-fwvl.eu. These tools aim to strengthen visibility and foster exchanges with companies, researchers and stakeholders. On the technical and scientific side, the partners have selected a common commercial printable material for the entire consortium and launched the first testing campaigns (rheology, ultrasonic setting monitoring, mechanical tests). This reference material serves both to harmonise characterisation protocols and to build a shared materials database. Low-carbon construction and refractory inks, incorporating recycled aggregates and alternative binders, are currently under development. In parallel, the University of Lille (CRIStAL laboratory) has started developing a portable monitoring device capable of collecting real-time process data to feed a predictive control model based on artificial intelligence. The first collective printing trials have already been carried out, marking a concrete step forward in achieving this objective. The project is carried out by a cross-border consortium bringing together the following beneficiary operators: INISMa (lead partner, BE), Buildwise (BE), IMT Nord Europe (FR), University of Lille – CRIStAL (FR), University of Orléans – LaMé (FR) and the competitiveness cluster TEAM2 (FR). It also relies on several associated operators: the Walloon Federation of Deconstruction Waste Recyclers (FEREDECO, BE), the Provincial Development Agency of West Flanders (POM, BE), Green Concrete (GOV, BE), the University of Liège – UEE (BE), the MECATECH cluster (BE), CERIB (FR), as well as the competitiveness cluster GreenWin (BE).

De lopende industriële revolutie, aangedreven door robotisering en additive manufacturing, transformeert de bouwsector grondig. 3D-printen van beton, toegepast zowel in de bouwsector als in vuurvaste toepassingen, biedt nieuwe perspectieven op het gebied van ontwerp, productiesnelheid en afvalvermindering. Het 3DFORMWORKS-project, gefinancierd door het Interreg Frankrijk-Wallonië-Vlaanderen programma, ondersteunt deze transitie door de ontwikkeling van koolstofarme cementgebaseerde inkten en oplossingen om het 3D-printproces te optimaliseren en betrouwbaarder te maken. Sinds de start in oktober 2024 heeft het project al verschillende belangrijke mijlpalen bereikt. Het kick-off evenement, dat plaatsvond in Mons op 28 januari 2025, bracht 51 deelnemers samen uit kmo’s, grote bedrijven, universiteiten en instellingen, wat het belang van de actoren in het grensoverschrijdende gebied bevestigde. Er werd een Industrieel Stuurgroepcomité (COPIL) opgericht, dat reeds 11 leden telt uit de sectoren vuurvaste materialen, bouw en machinefabrikanten. Op communicatief vlak heeft de dedicated LinkedIn-pagina inmiddels meer dan 130 volgers en een tiental publicaties. De vooruitgang van het project wordt ook gedeeld via de officiële website: https://www.3dformworks-fwvl.eu. Deze instrumenten hebben tot doel de zichtbaarheid te vergroten en de uitwisseling tussen bedrijven, onderzoekers en belanghebbenden te bevorderen. Op technisch en wetenschappelijk vlak hebben de partners een gemeenschappelijk commercieel printbaar materiaal voor het hele consortium geselecteerd en de eerste testcampagnes gestart (rheologie, ultrasoon monitoring van de binding, mechanische testen). Dit referentiemateriaal dient zowel om karakterisatieprotocollen te harmoniseren als om een gezamenlijke materiaaldatabase op te bouwen. Koolstofarme constructie- en vuurvaste inkten, met gerecycleerde granulaten en alternatieve bindmiddelen, worden momenteel ontwikkeld. Parallel hieraan is de Universiteit van Lille (CRIStAL-laboratorium) begonnen met de ontwikkeling van een draagbaar monitoringsapparaat dat realtime procesgegevens kan verzamelen om een voorspellend controlemodel op basis van kunstmatige intelligentie te voeden. De eerste gezamenlijke printproeven zijn al uitgevoerd, wat een concrete stap betekent in de verwezenlijking van dit doel. Het project wordt uitgevoerd door een grensoverschrijdend consortium met de volgende begunstigde operatoren: INISMa (hoofdaanvrager, BE), Buildwise (BE), IMT Nord Europe (FR), Université de Lille – CRIStAL (FR), Université d’Orléans – LaMé (FR) en de concurrentiecluster TEAM2 (FR). Actual Achievements (FR):

La révolution industrielle en cours, portée par la robotisation et la fabrication additive, transforme en profondeur le secteur de la construction. L’impression 3D de bétons, appliquée aussi bien au bâtiment qu’aux ouvrages réfractaires, offre de nouvelles perspectives en matière de design, de rapidité de production et de réduction des déchets. Le projet 3DFORMWORKS, financé par le programme Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen, accompagne cette transition en développant des formulations d’encres cimentaires à faible impact carbone et des solutions d’optimisation et de fiabilité du procédé d’impression 3D. Depuis son lancement en octobre 2024, le projet a déjà enregistré plusieurs avancées significatives. L’événement de lancement, organisé à Mons le 28 janvier 2025, a rassemblé 51 participants issus de PME, de grandes entreprises, d’universités et d’institutions, confirmant l’intérêt des acteurs de la zone transfrontalière. Un Comité Industriel de Pilotage a été constitué, regroupant déjà 11 membres représentant les secteurs du réfractaire, du BTP et de la fabrication de machines. En matière de communication, une page LinkedIn dédiée au projet compte déjà plus de 130 abonnés et une dizaine de publications. Les avancées du projet 3DFORMWORKS sont également disponibles sur son site internet : https://www.3dformworks-fwvl.eu. Ces outils visent à renforcer la visibilité et à favoriser l’échange avec les entreprises, les chercheurs et les parties prenantes. Sur le plan technique et scientifique, les partenaires ont sélectionné un matériau imprimable commercial commun à l’ensemble du consortium et lancé les premières campagnes d’essais (rhéologie, suivi de la prise par ultrasons, tests mécaniques). Ce matériau de référence sert à harmoniser les protocoles de caractérisation et à constituer une base de données « matériaux » commune. Des encres bas carbone BTP et réfractaires, incluant des granulats recyclés et des liants alternatifs, sont en cours de développement. Parallèlement, l’Université de Lille (laboratoire CRIStAL) a amorcé le développement d’un boîtier portable de monitoring, capable de collecter en temps réel des données de procédé pour alimenter un modèle de contrôle prédictif basé sur l’intelligence artificielle. Les premiers essais collectifs d’impression ont déjà été réalisés, marquant une étape concrète dans l’atteinte de cet objectif. Le projet est porté par un consortium transfrontalier réunissant les opérateurs bénéficiaires suivants : l’INISMa (chef de file, BE), Buildwise (BE), l’IMT Nord Europe (FR), l’Université de Lille (laboratoire CRIStAL , FR), l’Université d’Orléans (laboratoire LaMé, FR) et le pôle de compétitivité TEAM2 (FR). Il s’appuie également sur plusieurs opérateurs associés : la Fédération Wallonne des recycleurs de déchets de déconstruction (FEREDECO, BE), la Provincial Development Agency of West Flanders (POM, BE), Green Concrete (GOV, BE), l’Université de Liège – UEE (BE), le Pôle MECATECH (BE), le CERIB (FR), ainsi que le pôle de compétitivité GreenWin (BE).

INTERREG FWVL 2021-2027 (NL), INTERREG FWVL 2021-2027 (FR) | Het 3DFORMWORKS-project, geleid door INISMa, richt zich op Smart Manufacturing en Additive Manufacturing. Dit thema komt ook aan bod in de volgende projecten:
- AGILITY (leidende operator: CRITT),
- TECH4FAB (projectleider: CRIBC),
- VERADMA (projectleider: INISMa),
- INSIDE 3D (projectleider: CHU de Lille).
In overeenstemming met de projectleiders zijn er synergiën ontwikkeld tussen deze verschillende onderzoeksprojecten rond het thema "Additive Manufacturing".
Er zullen met name technische bijeenkomsten tussen projecten worden gehouden om aanvullende kennis te delen op gebied van materiaalwetenschap, werktuigbouwkunde, IT, ontwerp, enz. .... Het doel is ook om de toegang tot apparatuur en middelen voor alle partners in deze verschillende projecten te vergemakkelijken.
De relevante resultaten van de verschillende projecten zullen ook worden gepromoot tijdens technische innovatiedagen tussen de projecten (Innovation Days). Deze dagen zullen zowel onderzoekers als industriëlen samenbrengen. Dit publiek van industriëlen zal alle doelsectoren van elk van de projecten samenbrengen.
Deze synergiën tussen de verschillende onderzoeksprojecten op het gebied van additive manufacturing zullen helpen om dubbel werk te voorkomen, schaalvoordelen te behalen in termen van apparatuur en middelen, en interdisciplinaire benaderingen aan te moedigen. Dit zou moeten leiden tot innovatieve vooruitgang en/of nieuwe mogelijkheden, terwijl de toepassing van deze technologie in verschillende sectoren wordt gestimuleerd.
Deze synergiën zullen ook helpen bij het bevorderen van de ontwikkeling van normen en richtlijnen op het gebied van geavanceerde fabricage, waar normalisatie en regelgeving van cruciaal belang zijn voor het op de markt brengen van producten. (NL), Le projet 3DFORMWORKS, piloté par l'INISMa, est axé sur le « Smart Manufacturing » et la « Fabrication Additive ». Cette thématique est aussi visée dans les projets suivants :
- AGILITY (opérateur chef de file : CRITT),
- TECH4FAB (opérateur chef de file : CRIBC),
- VERADMA (opérateur chef de file : INISMa),
- INSIDE 3D (opérateur chef de file : CHU de Lille).
En accord avec les opérateurs chef de files de ces projets, des synergies ont été élaborées entre ces différents projets de recherche sur le thème de la « Fabrication Additive ».
Il s’agira notamment au cours de réunions techniques inter-projets de partager des connaissances complémentaires telles que la science des matériaux, l’ingénierie mécanique, l’informatique, la conception, …. Il s’agira aussi de faciliter l’accès à des équipements et ressources pour l’ensemble des partenaires de ces différents projets.
Les résultats pertinents des différents projets seront également valorisés lors de journées d’innovations techniques inter-projets (Innovation Days). Ces journées réuniront aussi bien chercheurs qu’industriels. Ce public d’industriels rassemblera l’ensemble des secteurs visés dans chacun des projets.
Ainsi, ces synergies entre les différents projets de recherche sur la « Fabrication additive » permettront d’éviter la duplication des efforts, de faire des économies d’échelles en termes d’équipements et ressources, de favoriser des approches interdisciplinaires et transversales. Cela devrait conduire à des avancées novatrices et/ou de nouvelles opportunités tout en stimulant l'adoption de cette technologie dans divers secteurs.
Aussi, ces synergies permettront de favoriser l’élaboration de normes et de lignes directrices dans le domaine de la fabrication avancée pour lequel la normalisation et la réglementation sont des enjeux importants pour la mise sur le marché des produits. (FR)

Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

EuropeanGreenDeal Het 3DFORMWORKS-project kan een belangrijke bijdrage leveren aan de ondersteuning van het Europese Groene Pact door te voldoen aan verschillende belangrijke doelstellingen op het gebied van milieu en duurzame ontwikkeling:
- vermindering van materiaalafval: 3D-betonprinten zelf bevordert de efficiëntie van minerale hulpbronnen door de topologie van gebouwen te optimaliseren en ook door overmatig verbruik van grondstoffen tijdens de productie met conventionele technieken te vermijden. Daarnaast wordt afval ook verminderd door de traditioneel gebruikte mallen/bekistingen te vervangen door 3D-geprinte permanente bekistingen.
- Vermindering van de CO2-uitstoot: het 3DFORMWORKS-project is gericht op het formuleren van "koolstofarme" 3D printbare mortels, bestaande uit gerecycleerd granulaat en alternatieve bindmiddelen. Deze laatste om cement, waarvan de productie ongeveer 8% van de wereldwijde CO2-uitstoot genereert, geheel of gedeeltelijk te vervangen. Het gebruik van deze alternatieve materialen zou moeten helpen om de koolstofvoetafdruk van permanente bekisting met minstens een factor 2 te verminderen, in vergelijking met 3D printbare mortel waarbij geen gerecycleerde materialen worden gebruikt.
- de circulaire economie: het 3DFORMWORKS-project is gericht op het gebruik van lokaal beschikbare alternatieve materialen om koolstofarme 3D printbare mortels te formuleren, wat niet alleen zal helpen om de milieu-impact van het transport van grondstoffen te verminderen, maar ook de circulaire economie zal bevorderen.
- Energie-efficiëntie: de oplossing die in het 3DFORMWORKS-project wordt voorgesteld, moet complexe architecturale ontwerpen mogelijk maken die de energie-efficiëntie van gebouwen of middelen voor hoge-temperatuurproductie verbeteren en zo het energieverbruik van gebouwen en zware industrie helpen verminderen.
TerritorialAgenda2030 A l’instar de la contribution du projet 3DFORMWORKS au pacte vert européen, celui-ci tend également à répondre aux priorités spécifiques « un environnement sain » et « une économie circulaire », de l’Agenda Territoriale 2030.
Au niveau de la priorité spécifique « un environnement sain », les solutions proposées dans le projet peuvent être utilisée pour reproduire des pièces complexes architecturales ou même des structures entières qui risquent de se dégrader, préservant ainsi l'identité culturelle et historique des régions. La technologie peut également être employée pour une reconstruction rapide de bâtiments ou d’habitats après des catastrophes d’origine climatique, tel que l’érosion, des tempêtes ou inondations, améliorant ainsi la résilience du territoire vis-à-vis du changement climatique. Enfin, la technologie peut également contribuer au développement rural, par sa mobilité couvrant ainsi les besoins en construction de zones éloignées ou mal desservies. Ce dernier point participe également à promouvoir un développement territoriale inclusif et juste.
Au niveau de la priorité spécifique « une économie circulaire », le développement de filières de production d’encres cimentaires utilisant des matières alternatives disponibles localement devrait contribuer à la croissance économique du territoire en favorisant des boucles courtes mais aussi en préservant les ressources minérales et/ou en réduisant des extractions minières. Aussi, la coopération à l’échelle territoriale de centres d’excellence, autour de la thématique de l'impression 3D de béton, devrait concourir à renforcer les capacités d’innovation dans le secteur de la construction au sens large du terme (BTP, Génie Civil, Réfractaires) : création de pôles d'innovation ou de clusters, collaboration entre entreprises et chercheurs, … Le renforcement des capacités d’innovation est notamment spécifiquement encouragé dans la stratégie de l’Agenda territorial 2030.
