Description (EN):

The challenge for decision makers concerning the building sector green transformation in the AS is the coherent integrated application of New European Bauhaus, whose core values are beauty, sustainability and togetherness through creativity and interdisciplinarity, and DNSH, a principle ensuring projects Do No Significant Harm to the six environmental objectives defined in the EU Sustainable Investment Regulation (2020/852), as required by the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), and, in turn, defining a framework and a set of indicators to evaluate green and sustainable public and private investments. Besides the lack of standard and national guidelines to conduct such evaluations in the building sector, it is essential in the AS to pursue circularity as both an aesthetic and technological endeavour, looking at traditional and vernacular methods and at the sense of beauty. In line with NEB principles, the project aims at testing new models to make the building sector in the Alps greener and sustainable, leveraging not only technological advancements, but also the AS area “genius loci” and promoting a sustainable, inclusive and beautiful re-adaptation of the building sector. The green transformation and the climate neutral objectives are drawn at the centre of an innovative cultural process involving culture and creative workers and the local social groups in the co-design of new solutions. The final output of the project will be new standards for the mandatory evaluations in the building sector dealing with the green transformation. The project, in line with AS priorities, is based on a solid experience of its transnational partnership. It capitalises past building sector experiences and optimises existing open source instruments, binding together technical, aesthetic and cultural aspects of the building process, paying close attention to local community needs, the sense of place, and the specific issues of alpine areas.

Expected Achievements (EN):

Develop a model to support the green transformation of the building sector, based on the local cultural identity and the capability to implement circularity processes in line with the New European Bauhaus principles (sustainable, beauty, together). To test the model and the tools to enhance the green transformation of the building sector working on the circularity, the beauty and the involvement of the local communities To define the solutions and assure their durability to enhance the green transformation of the building sector with the support of the local communities and valorising the cultural identity of the alps

EUStrategyAlpineRegion BAUHALPS will create synergies and joint cooperation with AG9-Energy, particularly the sub-group n.4 dealing with the building sector. To this end, the leader of this sub-group - CASACLIMA - has been involved as Observers. Cooperation will see common awareness actions for SMEs. Additionally, in September 2024, BAUHALPS will participate in the Conference in Slovenia (Portorose). The sub-group will be asked to contribute to the toolkit. They will benefit from the Strategy and the Action plan.
EUStrategyAlpineRegion BAUHALPS will create synergies and joint cooperation with AG-2 Economic Development (PP13 is member) and particularly with sub-group WOOD (Mr. Battistel) focusing on the establishment of collaborative value chains and GPP business models to co-design new products and services for sustainable and climate neutral construction and buildings. Additionally, the cross-cutting priority "Boosting Circular Economy" is involved thanks to PP10 (leader), focusing on reduction of waste from building sector.
