Description (EN):

TEAMFORADRIS aims to improve fishery and aquaculture management in the Adriatic-Ionian Sea by a set of action and tools user friendly toward the decrease of the mussels and Posidonia Oceanica’s mortality. TEAMFORADRIS PP’s is composed of no. 10 partners (MoCV, WINGS, UniSA, ACSD, ASD, LUM, UniTH, BSOL, YSEA, PLAT) and several Associated partners which represent a wider range of stakeholders and skills in the field sustainable blue economy from AdrIon are: no.4 EU countries (Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia) and no.3 IPA countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro). TEAMFORADRIS cross cut by an innovative and user-friendly approach the necessity to preserve marine ecosystem by allowing sustainable seafood production. The project is aligned with a set of objectives of UN SDG’s 14, 2, 12, 13, the European Green Deal, the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region and the GCPM Target 3. Indeed, TEAMFORADRIS contribute by a common strategy and tools to the mitigation of climate change, arising of sea water temperature, human pressure, mass tourism and extensive agriculture to address the possible, feasible and replicable solutions piloting and testing in Adriatic Ionian area the inputs. TEAMFORADRIS, provides a set of actions to manage, prevent and bioremediate the Posidonia and Mussels disappearance and the consequent reduction of oxygen and increasing of temperature in AdrIon seas. TEAMFORADRIS’ specific objectives are mainly related to: - Map the key parameters and indicators of human, environmental and natural causes leading to mussel mortality in the AdrIon Sea, with a complementary focus on Posidonia Oceanica seabed and along the sea water column of the characterised areas. - Engage key players and mussel farms in the farming protocol and plastic net management, including the waste, crucial for marine flora survival and TEAMFORADRIS outcomes. - Provide an innovative set of IT tool and integrated solutions toward a more sustainable mussel farming production and bioremediation of the seabed with Posidonia Oceanica. - Test a friendly use tool composed by on field pilot actions through the IoT and satellite monitoring activities in the different targeted water basins of the involved countries. - Data set dynamic OS available of parameters related to the causes, solutions and pilot actions, setting up an open data source of the Adriatic Sea, handily to all external stakeholders, by the co-creation of ecological blue corridors and methodology. - Cross cut outcomes by the use of bio promoters for bioremediation such as mixtures of selected microorganisms, enzymes, plant extracts and mineral catalysts, once released along the coastal areas, toward the improvement of the marine ecosystem. The main results of TEAMFORADRIS are: - a set of environmental indicators measuring the environmental performance of the farmers ‘plants and Poseidonia's survival with the integration of disruptive integrated practices and biopromotors; - trials validate from pilot actions and data set; - digital toolkit composed by the "TEAMFORADRIS PaaS (Platform as a Service)", the mobile APP and the technological dashboard of environmental indicators (PaaS) available for the ADRION consortia and stakeholders in OS and FAIR. -TEAMFORADRIS common strategy composed by the data set, protocol for pilot actions scalable, good practice, rules and cross border agreements to support the integration between the mussels procedures and the marine ecosystem protection toward the implementation of the best sustainable solutions and constant monitoring. -TEAMFORDRIS protocol on “Golden Cases” i.e., the best mussels’ farming practices in the sustainable aquaculture supply chain. TEAMFORADRIS main project’s output are: - The creation of the ADRIS digital platform (PaaS) and APP; - The protocol on the Pilot Tests concerning both the use of digital devices, bio promoters, ecological blue corridors and methodology; - The set of environmental and sustainable production indicators for labelling; - A specific dashboard section and mobile app for a more sustainable mussel farming; - A Final Report of Good Practices and innovative solutions for reducing mussel mortality rates and promoting a more sustainable and healthy seafood production. In terms of goal within Adriatic-Ionian area by capitalising the results from previous project, data set and disruptive integrated solution, the main goal of TEAMFORADRIS are: - Identification of results-oriented and transnational joint approaches toward common solutions. - Enhancement of territorial cooperation among PP’s by joint staffing and application of shared solutions even beyond the project's duration by development of several pilot tests in different countries, figuring out solutions tailored to different contextual factors. - Civic, Scientific, Private-Public and Citizens stakeholders’ engagement for the dynamic identification of common bottlenecks and solutions.

Expected Achievements (EN):

The main goal of WP1 is to set up a common strategy to conduct scientific research in the field of aquaculture, focusing on mussels farming and Posidonia disappearance, as well as a standardized framework to make use of the scientific results by transferring them to stakeholders operating in the territorial aquaculture system. The main topic of this part of the project will be detecting the different causes of marine flora and fauna instability, considering the various contextual factors. This preliminary analysis will be a means to develop and implement joint strategies on Adriatic and Ionian seas to safeguard biodiversity, also considering the conflicting sea exploitation: - Tourism - Commercial and recreational shipping - Aquaculture plants - Plastic and wastes of production plants The main goal of WP2 is to find and map possible solutions to the causes of mussel mortality and extinction of Posidonia oceanica previously mapped in WP1. Mapping may concern existing solutions or the identification and development of possible innovative solutions, maintaining an integrated approach between the partners of the countries involved to ensure a holistic and transnational approach. Once they have been identified or created from scratch, a choice will be made as to which type of solution will be applied in some marine areas of the Adriatic-Ionian Sea, in order to carry out testing activities. Fianlly, in order to assess the economic feasibility of the innovative solution, a benckmark analysis will be conducted in parallel. The main goal of WP3 is the creation of an integrated "ADRIS” platform that collects all data found about causes, solutions, experiments and indicators analysed during TEAMFORADRIS activities. In parallel, to lead mussel farmings to a more sustainable production system, a set of environmental indicators and specific tools to monitor marine flora and fauna and to guide mussel farmers will be develpoed. Two products of the Adris platform will take form in a mobile APP and a technological dashboard handly to marine community (fishermen, producers, etc.) for and environmental evalutation of the marine plans performance. For boosting the economic mussels sector, TEAMFORADRIS will come up with a final context analysis focused on economical- financial aspect (analysis of mussels production chain) as well as the report of good practices about the best innovative solutions for reducing mussel mortality rates (by mapping causes, and possible solutions) for a better final product.

EuropeanGreenDeal TEAMFORADRIS is in line with the European Green Deal, by implementing its strategic guidelines for a more sustainable and competitive EU aquaculture. The project aims at promoting a sustainable transition toward a fair and green economy and investing in new solution through environmentally-friendly technologies, and with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 12 and 14).
