    Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

    • EUStrategyAdriaticIonianRegion ABBA focuses on the Blow growth Pillar of EUSAIR with emphasis on topic1 - Blue Technologies and flagship 1 - F1 - Fostering quadruple helix ties in marine technologies for advancing innovation, business development and adaptation in blue bio-economy - of the EUSAIR 2021-2027. ABBA will support the scaling up of early stage deeptech innovators, utilizing advanced technologies in the context of a Sustainable Blue Alliance. Also, fisheries and aquaculture sectors are among the selected sub-sectors of blue economy by the project, attempting in fostering R&I capacities (flagship 2).
    • EuropeanGreenDeal Blue Growth is a special part of the European Green Deal. The ocean plays a crucial role in this strategy, and understanding its past, present, and potential future is essential. Knowledge of the ocean is necessary to address climate change and decarbonize the EU, with a quarter of Europe's electricity needed could be generated offshore. ABBA will support the Green Deal priorities through upscaling blue economy deeptech innovators and PoCs.
    • Other NEW AGENDA EUROPE INNOVATION: As the deep tech ecosystem continues to evolve and mature, we can expect to witness groundbreaking innovations and advancements that will shape the future of technology and society. Successful deep tech ventures often rely on a multidisciplinary team comprising scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs who collaborate to address complex problems. In many cases, deep tech ventures develop entirely new technologies that can disrupt industries and create new market opportunities. ABBA boosts the deep tech ecosystem in the blue economy, through strengthening the innovation capacities of tech providers and developing PoCs
    • Other EU BLUE GROWTH AGENDA: The sustainable blue economy seeks to ensure that blue sectors are conducted in a sustainable and responsible manner, minimizing negative environmental impacts and maximizing economic and social benefits. By aligning S3 with the principles of the sustainable blue economy, the Region can harness its blue resources while ensuring their long-term sustainability and promoting economic growth. ABBA sets the sustainable dimension of the blue economy throughout the work plan, aiming to address the related challenges via technological advancements
    • Other Sustainable Development Goals: ABBA project objectives, as well as the establishment of a sustainable alliance, will be aligned to specific SDGs targets such as decent work and economic growth, affordable and clean energy, climate action. The alignment with specific targets will be monitored and assessed throughout the project duration and to ensure preserving our oceans, and serve 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
    • Other ‘Do No Significant Harm’ (DNSH) principle: ABBA project objectives, as well as the establishment of a sustainable alliance, will be aligned to the objectives of the ‘Do No Significant Harm’ (DNSH) principle of RFF, and will be monitored and assessed throughout the project duration to ensure that project alliance and hubs activities do not cause any significant harm to the environment.
