Description (EN):

The overall objective of SBEES is to prepare the members of the target groups in the region for the large-scale change to electromobility. South Baltic E-mobility Enabling Services (SBEES) is focused on the development of digital services for electromobility. The EU have decided to ban the sales of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035 and all cars sold will from that year be electric. The share of electric cars is at present on average less than 3 percent and no country has experienced a large- scale transformation to e-mobility. With 50, 60, or 90 percent electric cars and a large share electric trucks and buses the load on electricity grids will be high. Investment in charging infrastructure and expansion of power production and grid capacity need to start many years before the increase in the number of vehicles, because many investments take more than a decade to complete. Large-scale expansion of power production and transformation and distribution power grids need to be planned many years in advance to be finished in time. There are at present no plans in place for this expansion and utilities and municipalities lack the tools for the planning. Technologies, solutions, and business models for companies that develop necessary services for power storage and the optimal use of renewable power from wind and solar for charging of electric vehicles exist, but they need to become further developed in collaboration with potential customers and become implemented on a large scale. The goal of SBEES is to develop a set of digital services that will be necessary to drive the development of electromobility forward. 1. A digital mapping service that will be used for the mapping of charging needs in different parts of cities and towns and the mapping of the electricity needed to facilitate this charging. This will map the need for charging in private as well as public charging infrastructure. 2. A digital service for the mapping of power and electricity storage needs in batteries or as fuels like methane or hydrogen. 3. A digital service for the monitoring of the use of public and semi-public chargers, using publicly available data. These services will in combination facilitate the planning of the expansion of charging infrastructures. 4. A digital service for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality. V2G is a technology that makes it possible to use eV batteries to store electricity and to deliver electricity during hours of peak demand from vehicles to the grid. V2G needs chargers and vehicles with v2G functionality and control systems at utilities or parking operators need to have the functionality of starting and stopping the charging and discharging of each individual vehicle battery. The result of the project will be that members of the target groups will be able to plan and prepare for the large-scale implementation of electromobility. The change to electromobility will ultimately involve the complete transformation of all vehicles in all countries. The situations in countries are very different. E-mobility has made more progress in Sweden than in the other countries, but all need to plan their change. Organizations need to learn from each other in cross- border collaboration. Solutions developed in the leading countries will have to be applied in all countries. The companies that develop solutions need to engage in dialogue with representatives from all countries to understand the challenges and unique circumstances.
