- Supporting the decision-making process for greener transport- and logistics chains at freight transport organisers / Internal meeting to discuss and receive input from PPs perspective and experience gained. Experience sharing based on previous WPs (all PPs involved) to identify greening potential by lifting synergies from ports' green transition strategies matched with regional logistics needs & strategies. This supports framework setting for two ITS applications to support the market uptake of green logistic solutions connecting (inland) ports with its hinterland by regional logistics.
- Reaching out to shore side electricity users in (inland) port areas (North Sea Port, Skagen, Hamburg, Brest, Waalwijk & RISE/Kristinehamn) / Involving users in the set-up of (inland) port strategies and feasible business models (user requirements identification). Potential stakeholder/user- & requirement analyses on e-charging stations in (inland) ports Definition of accessibility for port users Co-operation with NSRP "REDII Ports (1st Call) & SPIES (3rd Call)", by joint workshop(s) and conference organisation Results will feed into Activity 1 report.
- Development of a stakeholder involvement strategy to create synergies with regional logistics’ needs / The activity covers: Market & best practice analysis of port hinterland cooperation in the NSR Ports customers and their transport modes used Identification of changes in transport modes market (towards electric-, H2-, bio-LNG- drives) Potential synergies in alternative fuel demand from port/ regional users and perspective with electrification- and green fuel supply strategies in ports The strategy will be tested in two test-beds: (1) Vänern-Lake-Region, (2) Large Port Community Brest.

- Pilot preparation for a multi-user approach in providing alternative fuels in an (inland) port, supporting greening strategies covering regional logistics’ needs in Brest / A pilot demonstration for green fuel supply to a large port community in Brest will be based on results of the Strategy & Action Plan preparations. It can be e.g. bio-LNG or H2 based, and the decision is made on pre-analyses in this WP. The green fuel supply via the port will directly support greening of the regional logistics sector and demonstrates a successful stakeholder management process, which lifts synergies between ports' and regions' greening strategy.
- Pilot evaluation and roll out in the NSR / The proof-of-concept will ensure availability of results after project end & easy transferability in the NSR: Evaluation of the on-boarding process & benefits for customers Analysis on how the CIRCOE tool will influence transport route planning towards green transport modes & how the modility tool will attract customers to use new green transport solutions offered to the transport market

- Development of regulatory frameworks and governance/ economic models for successful implementation of shore side electricity solutions / Knowledge & input gained from Activity 2, the pilots in Skagen and Brest as well as SaAPs in North Sea Port, Skagen, Hamburg, Waalwijk & RISE/Kristinehamn will enable the PPs to formulate regulatory frameworks and governance models to support the uptake of solutions. GSC will cooperate with SPIES project (3rd call), in case of approval by the NSRP.
- Joint dissemination events to roll-out solutions to the NSR / Aim: Demonstrating emission reduction potential by creating synergies between (inland) ports and regional logistics electrification strategies. Policy Day: jointly organised with AVIP Movin'on & NSC to demonstrate potentials, challenges & needs linked to rules & regulations. Conference: in cooperation with REDII Ports, DIOL & NSC (potentially also SPIES) to provide best practice & kick-off discussions on continued synergy finding and potential lifting for greener supply chains in the NSR & beyond.
- Outreach workshops to scale-up market uptake by customers / Six workshops (3 by modility & 3 by CIRCOE) to showcase benefits & applicability of the modility- and CSR tool. Target audience will be shippers (customers of logistics solutions, respectively transport demanders = SMEs) who decide on the transport solutions. Aim: Supporting the uptake of green transport modes and by that strengthen synergies provided from ports' electrification strategies in regional logistics. The tools will support shippers in easily finding and using green supply chains.
- Communication and on-site information campaigns to support the market uptake / 5 regional campaigns (North Sea Port, Skagen, Hamburg, Brest & Waalwijk) significantly contribute to raising awareness about outputs, future actions & emissions saving potentials to users of shore side electricity solutions. Depending on the pilot & identified specific communication needs, tools could include: info points on-site information campaigns, Short video-clip about the pilots to be used in social media and/or conferences Print media coverage and flyers Local-/regional information events

- Joint dissemination event to roll-out solutions to the NSR / Dissemination event on "Governance models for Shore Side Electricity Solutions in (inland) ports", to demonstrate solutions developed, challenges, needs of additional rules & regulations and emission saving potentials. Aim: Supporting the uptake of solutions. Target Groups: Port infrastructure managers (especially port authorities), regional-, national administrations in charge of port infrastructure development and environmental issues. Joint actions with SPIES-, REDII Ports project & NSC planned.
Contribution to wider strategies and policies:
- GSC is contributing to the following climate actions described in the European Green Deal: The European Climate Law, enshrine the 2050 climate-neutrality objective into EU law 2030 Climate Target Plan, to cut greenhouse gas emission by at least 5% by 2030 sets Europe on a responsible path to become climate neutral by 2050. GSC will provide solutions to decrease emissions in freight transport.
- Digitization is crucial for the EU to become climate neutral by 2050. GSC supports goal 7 'automated and connected transport'. The web-portal supports a modal shift to more environmentally friendly transport modes rail and IWT. Helping reduce road traffic. The emission calculator, as corporate social responsibility tool, supports the decision-making for greener transport modes. The GSC digital tools raise awareness and visibility of environmentally friendly transport modes.
- For ships trading in the EU, the EU's legislative bodies have reached an agreement on the FuelEU Maritime regulation setting well-to-wake GHG emission intensity requirements on energy used on board from 2025. From 2030, the regulation also mandates the use of shore power for container and passenger ships in certain EU ports. GSC will support to meet targets set in this regulation.
- GSC supports the pillar 'Green Europe' and its effort to achieve a sustainable future for all places and people in Europe by 2030, by providing last mile solutions for climate neutral towns, cities, and regions. The solutions that GSC will develop, tackle the aim of 'healthy environment'.
- GSC is contributing to: the 2030 aim '100 European cities will be climate neutral and the 2050 aim 'rail freight traffic will double', by providing low-emission transport solutions. Especially, by promoting green transport via the modility tool which includes zero-/low emission transport modes (rail & inland waterway transport).
- GSC activities will contribute to national- & regional policies, action plans and strategies (such as national energy and climate plans) to cut emissions from freight transport. - Reducing the use of fossil fuels in transport is key for the EU to reach climate neutrality by 2050. To achieve this goal, there needs to be enough recharging- & alternative fuel refuelling points for lorries, cars, planes and ships. The alternative fuels infrastructure regulation (part of Fit for 55 package) sets concrete targets for deploying such infrastructure in the EU. GSC directly supports aims set in the regulation by its Strategy and Actions Plans and pilots.
