The common challenge and main goal of the project is to support access to clean water and sustainable water management in the Polish-Ukrainian region and to improve the quality of people's lives by developing sewage infrastructure and improving sewage management. The subject of the project is the expansion of the sewage system and modernization of the sewage treatment plant, the development of a practical guide on water protection issues and good practices in this regard, the creation of a cross-border platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of water and sewage management, an information and educational campaign. Positive benefits that the construction of the sewage system and the modernization of the sewage treatment plant will bring to the partners and the Polish-Ukrainian region: *improvement of the natural environment (wastewater will be properly treated before discharge into the environment, which will contribute to the protection of aquatic ecosystems and diversity) *improving the quality of people's lives (safe disposal of pollutants is crucial to protect public health as it prevents the spread of infectious diseases that can be transmitted through sewage) * economic development of the area (good sewage infrastructure is an important aspect for economic development, attracting investments, creating jobs and increasing the attractiveness of the place) The project will strengthen cross-border cooperation between the Konopnica Commune and Terebovlia and strengthen people-to-people contacts. Project effects: Products: − PLRO050 Number of supported municipal sewage treatment plants - 1 pc. − RCO 31. Length of new or modernized public sewage networks - 2461 m − RCO 81. Participation in joint cross-border activities - 60 people − RCO 116. Jointly developed solutions - 2 pcs. Results: − RCR 42. Number of people connected to the public sewage treatment system of at least second degree - 3905 people The project is addressed to local governments and residents of the Konopnica Commune, Terebovlia and the Polish-Ukrainian region. The cooperation between Konopnica and Terebovlia made it possible to identify common problems and challenges in the sphere of development of sewage infrastructure, improvement of wastewater treatment, protection of the natural environment, biodiversity and improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants, which can only be achieved through a joint cross-border project. The project will be implemented through integrated cooperation, coordinated activities and exchange of knowledge and experience. Partners will jointly agree, prepare and actively participate in project activities. The created infrastructure will be available to all users. The inhabitants of Konopnica and Terebovlia, people from the Polish-Ukrainian region will benefit from the results of the project. Project activities will lead to the achievement of common results and goals that will serve partners on both sides of the border. Konopnica and Terebovlia will have modern infrastructure for the Polish-Ukrainian region, thanks to which the region's development will be stimulated. The project gives the opportunity to influence the socio-economic development from the local (municipality/city) to the regional (voivodship/district) level. The project creates conditions for increasing social, ecological and economic attractiveness.
