Description (EN):

Due to development of mass manufacturing technologies, craft industry has lost its importance in Latvian and Lithuanian economies. However, there are still craftsmen and applied artists eager to use their talent and specific approach to work, traditions and knowledge inhabited from their ancestors. The project promotes development of craft industry in Kurzeme (LV) and Klaipėda (LT) regions, thus also contributing to tourism development and culture heritage preservation in the respective regions. The expected project results are: opportunities created for craftsmen and applied artists to sell their goods and obtain information and training in Ventspils and Klaipėda; competitiveness of craftsmen and applied artists from both regions raised; experience transfer; traditional Kurshi craft and art goods promoted in Latvian and Lithuanian markets; new sights and events based on traditional Kurshi craft created and interest of the society and tourists in traditional Kurshi art increased.
