- Erasmus+ project "Drugs and Alcohol use Reduction: Engage with young people" (DARE), project ID: 617248-EPP-1-2020-1-RO-EPPKA2-CBY-ACPALA (PIHE) (EN) | The current project aligns with DARE in its focus on young people and promoting safe behaviors. While one focuses on safe driving habits and the other on media literacy, there's a shared emphasis on youth engagement. (EN), YURA: Your Region - Your Future (HAHA) (EN) | This project, aimed at developing a youth strategy for regions affected by outward migration, may offer insights into factors influencing young people's decisions, which could be relevant to understanding their response to media manipulation, a focus of our current proposal. (EN), "We Bring - We Carry", project ID: HU07-0200-B2-2016, funded by the Norway Grants (HAHA) (EN) | Focused on strengthening intercultural dialogue, this project shares the goal of fostering communication and understanding, which is also a goal in the current project regarding misinformation and stereotypes. (EN), Erasmus+ project "Media Detective for Young People: Recognizing and Handling Fake News and Media Manipulation", project ID: 2021-2-HU01-KA220-YOU-000050383 (both PIHE and HAHA) (EN) | The current project capitalizes on the knowledge and insights gained in the previous EU-funded Media Detective project, specifically related to young people's media consumption habits and the growing reliance on specific social media platforms, such as TikTok and Instagram.
- Based on the findings from the previous project, which highlighted the popularity of specific platforms and the prevalence of video content sharing, the current project places a special emphasis on addressing content found on these platforms. It recognizes the need to adapt media literacy practices to align with the trends and preferences of young people.
- Drawing from the previous project's findings, the current project tailors its educational approaches and digital tools to suit the specific characteristics of our target group, building on the feedback the partners gained directly from teachers and educators involved in the training.
- The educational materials developed in the current project reflect the insights gained from this project. They are designed to engage young people based on the platforms they frequent, using formats and content styles that resonate with them, a responsive approach aims to maximize the impact of media literacy efforts. Contribution to wider strategies and policies:
- EUStrategyDanubeRegion Our medium- and long-term goal is to contribute to the establishment of a cross-border, international youth support network through the implementation of this project. This networking initative aligns with several priority areas of the European Union's Danube Region Strategy. The strategy, which unites 14 countries, aims to coordinate development policies across 11 specific fields. Its objectives include improving regional connections, promoting environmental sustainability, enhancing well-being, and strengthening the region. Among the four pillars of the strategy, the third, which focuses on enhancing well-being in the Danube region, is reflected in our project. Within this framework, two specific priority areas are related to our project:
- - The 7th priority area involves the creation of a knowledge-based society through research, education, and information technologies.
- - The 9th priority area emphasizes investment in human resources and capabilities, with goals including contributing to improved learning outcomes and the attainment of relevant skills and competencies in the region.
- Our aim is to align our project with these priority areas, fostering cooperation and synergy across borders to promote youth development, digital literacy, and well-being in the Danube Region.
- Other The project aligns with and contributes to several key aspects of the EU Youth Strategy (2019–2027).
- The project connects young people across borders through cross-border joint actions, promoting cultural and civic connections among youth, one of the three core themes of the EU Youth Strategy.
- The Strategy emphasizes the importance of equality and non-discrimination. The project's focus on media literacy and critical thinking helps combat discrimination by enabling young people to identify and address fake news and media manipulation, which can perpetuate stereotypes and biases.
- Lastly, although not a primary focus, the project indirectly supports the mental health and well-being of young people by promoting critical thinking and media awareness, which can reduce stress and anxiety related to misinformation and media manipulation.
- Other The project aligns with several aspects of the European Commission's Digital Strategy.
- 1. Digital Transformation: The project's primary focus is on digital transformation, particularly in the context of media literacy and critical thinking among young people. By equipping young individuals with digital skills and competencies related to media consumption, it contributes to the broader goal of digital transformation outlined in the Commission's strategy.
- 2. Digital Culture: The project promotes the development of a digital culture, emphasizing the importance of understanding digital media and its impact, aligning with the goal of fostering a digital culture in society.
- 3. Innovation: The project envisions the embedding of digital tools, fostering innovative solutions in managing digital content related to media literacy.
- While not the primary focus, the project indirectly supports the goal of delivering a secure and resilient digital infrastructure. Media literacy and critical thinking skills can contribute to increased security in digital interactions and information consumption.
