Relevant linked projects:
- HORIZON 2020 I-CHANGE
- Project - Citizen Actions on
- Climate Change and Environment | Fostering citizen behaviour change through sensor-based citizen science initiatives to reduce environmental footprint (2021- 2026) (EN) | The project promotes a participatory approach as a driver of climate action and sustainable behaviour. It aims to empower citizens through hands-on monitoring and understanding of the environmental impact of daily choices. Taking into consideration the shared objectives of the projects, COMMONAIR could benefit from the I-CHANGE Project's experience which offers valuable insights for stakeholder involvement and citizen engagement initiatives as well as from a possible future collaboration. (EN), H2020 CityCLIM | The project aims to produce information on real-time climate and air quality data in the cities and impact maps of different mitigation scenarios that can be implemented in urban areas in order to support policy design. (EN) | The H2020 CityCLIM will develop citizen science Concepts for Urban Climate Monitoring implementing approaches that explore the potential of citizen science in the collection of current and historical data, quality assessment of data and products, as well as in the individual use of data and derivation and evaluation of adaptation actions. Infrastructures, field tests and customized methodologies will be implemented in the Pilots. COMMONAIR will benefit from the outputs of CityCLIM. (EN), AGORA | A HORIZON Europ project which fosters societal transformation by empowering local communities across Europe to address the climate crisis through a multidisciplinary approach, advanced digital tools, and active citizen participation (EN) | AGORA employs digital technologies as tools to facilitate transformative processes in different social, economic and political contexts, with the aim to support Europe's path towards climate resilience. COMMONAIR could benefit from the project’s experience, particularly in citizen and stakeholder engagement, community empowerment and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange. AGORA offers valuable insights and methodologies to advance COMMOMAIR's mission fostering sustainable climate-conscious communities (EN), Horizon 2020 SOCIO-BEE - Wearables and droneS fOr CIty Socio-Environmental Observations and BEhavioral ChangE | Empowering communities to adopt more sustainable behaviours through citizen science, portable air quality sensors and social innovation. (EN) | The project aims to foster climate change awareness and citizen engagement by leveraging wearable technology for air quality monitoring. Emphasizing inclusivity, the project caters to diverse populations and engagement levels. SOCIO-BEE and COMMONAIR share a common objective: bridging the gap between research and implementation and empowering citizens to actively contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future. (EN), Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) -
- "COCITY" | The city of Turin as a European Pilot collaborative city experimented with Pacts of Collaboration as innovative tools to co-manage common goods such as Green public spaces care and building reuse (EN) | The project will explore the use of Pacts of collaboration in the field of urban actions for adaptation. This is a tool useful in the process of co-design involving non-experts, informal groups, individuals, profits, NGOs, public responsibles, and District councils. The goal is to build horizontal and flexible alliances among the public, private, and third sector. The Pacts of collaboration are ongoing in a number of local initiatives by several partners of the COMMONAIR Project. (EN), European Erasmus Program - "Enacting the commons" | A project to explore how the commons transform public actions in Europe [https://enactingthecommons.la27eregion.fr/] (EN) | The COMMONAIR Project aspires to work with movements blooming in Europe, gradually involving elected representatives and public
- administrations as a potential vector to revitalize local creative
- citizenship. The COMMONAIR project aims to join the forces of public and civil society promoting new forms of governance to take care of commons through knowledge sharing between research and
- general public and citizen science actions. (EN), ADAPTNOW - ADAPTation Capacity Strengthening for Highly Affected and Exposed Territories in the Alps NOW - Interreg Alpine Space Project, started 2022 (2021-27) [https://www.alpine-space.eu
- /project/adaptnow/] (EN) | COMMONAIR project could take advantage of some outputs and results from ADAPTNOW. At a regional scale, this project works on strengthening the adaptive capacity of Highly Affected and Exposed Territories (HEAT) to cope with unpredictable climate events implementing and evaluating the available tools and practices for climate adaption and risk mitigation. ADAPTNOW aims to make risk and adaption planning more integrated, collaborative and inclusive. (EN), EU-CITIZEN.SCIENCE | Platform for sharing citizen science projects, resources, tools, and training. [https://eu-citizen. science/] (EN) | The EU-CITIZEN.SCIENCE Platform provides insights into the best practices of tools to share initiatives, results and outputs of citizen science projects. The COMMONAIR project will benefit from those experiences to develop the communication and interaction platform and the "CLIMATE PLATFORM". The COMMONAIR itself could be included in the EU-CITIZEN.SCIENCE Platform which would contribute to its visibility and connections with similar projects. (EN), PROGIREG - Horizon 2020 innovation action programme | NBS 8 Pollinator diversity improvement and citizen project (2018-23) [https://progireg.eu/] (EN) | In the framework of PROGIREG Horizon 2020, the City of Turin has managed a citizen science project to train people with mental illnesses to become science disseminators. The project activities have been carried out in cooperation with the University of Turin, NGOs and schools. The COMMONAIR project could benefit from some issues of this experience of a partner in a citizen science initiative. (EN), Conexus – Horizon 2022 Innovative research action | Involvement activities with students and teachers (2020-2024)
- [http.//conexusnbs.com] (EN) | The City of Turin built a community of learning and dialogue – called Life Lab – to exchange and foster knowledge about climate change risks and mitigation activities implemented thanks to the project. The focus on schools and the young generation gained during the project activities will help COMMONAIR in dealing with educational communities. (EN)

Deliverables:
- Pilot and climate mapping activities report
- Toolkit for Information and citizen engagement
- Guidelines for "Cooperation pacts for common climate measurements" design
Contribution to wider strategies and policies:
- EUStrategyAlpineRegion The COMMONAIR Project will contribute to the goals and strategies of the EUSALP Action Plan, in particular Action Group 8 – Risk Governance, focused on spatial planning considering the Alpine Region extremely prone to climate change impacts. Heat stress is not only an issue in urban areas south and north of the Alps but for many inner-Alpine areas therefore key target areas for adaptation through spatial planning strategies can be fostered by governance models based on citizen science practices.
- EuropeanGreenDeal EU Green Deal recognises the role of citizen science (CS) and participation through co-design, workshops, and focus groups as means of policies exploring ethics, benefits, and challenges of R&I approaches and technology. Nevertheless, governance models based on CS are still lacking. Co-creation, involving citizens in the development of knowledge, is a key factor of both the GD and COMMONAIR projects, contributing to put in practice monitoring, evaluation and feedback to projects and policies.
- TerritorialAgenda2030 By contributing to TA 2030, the COMMONAIR project will provide tools to enable place-based responses, cooperation, and coordinated policies to address climate change in the Alpine region. Increased risks of heat waves, forest fires, droughts, land and soil degradation, flooding, and other natural and natural/technical hazards require climate change mitigation and adaptation actions that can even bring new development opportunities for places. Governance will be a key factor in achieving TA 2030.
