ongoingRelevant linked projects:
- KISS-Kokkola industrial Symbiosis System (Central Ostrobothnia, ERDF) (EN) | The KISS project has synergies with several national and international programs that provide good channels and opportunities for cooperation. It is aligned with the Resource Efficient Europe Flagship Initiative of the Europe 2020 Strategy and the Roadmap to a Resource Efficient Europe. KISS also coordinates with the national Finnish Industrial Symbiosis System Programme (FISS) led by Motiva Ltd. (EN), BBI -Bothnia Business Innovation (Interreg-BA) (EN) | The BBI project built a cross-border business-to-business network for SMEs in the manufacturing industry to develop business concepts, strengthen innovations, and exchange competencies. It involved universities and polytechnics as innovation engines to provide a solid foundation for a sustainable network. (EN), BIORAFF BOTNIA- Biorefinery-related solutions for utilization of residues from forest industry to develop new products, chemicals and materials (Interreg-BA) (EN) | BIORAFF BOTNIA project developed biorefinery-related solutions for utilizing residues from the forest industry to create new products, chemicals and materials. It aimed to enhance the sustainable production of wood biomass and align biomass production with the co-production of other essential ecosystem services. (EN), SYMBIOMA - Technology Innovations and Business Models for Valorisation of Industrial Waste Biomass in Sparsely Located Enterprises (Interreg NPA) (EN) |
- The SYMBIOMA project provides valuable insights into by-products and waste streams in the brewing industry and technologies for valorizing proteins, which will be further enhanced by integrating silicon recovery technologies in BATTSi project. This combination aims to maximize resource use and contribute to a more sustainable circular economy.
- (EN), CASBAT- Cascading use of side streams to produce
- sustainable battery chemicals (Interreg NPA) (EN) | The pre-study screened potential silicon-containing resources, identified key knowledge and infrastructure providers, and engaged industry stakeholders, ensuring BATTSi is aligned with industry needs and supported by the right expertise. (EN), RCUBE - Closing the energy loop through reuse, recover and recycle for the continuous use of battery energy (SEAI) (EN) | The RCUBE project provides a sustainable and scalable procedure to recycle components and active materials from exhausted batteries. The recycled active materials are used in new batteries granting a continuous use of the batteries without the need of expensive raw materials. (EN), Si-Drive - Silicon Alloying Anodes for Energy Dense Batteries comprising Lithium Rich Cathodes and Ionic Liquid Electrolytes for Safe High Voltage Performance (LC-NMBP-30-2018) (EN) | The Si-Drive project studies the preparation of advanced silicon based electrodes for the next generation lithium-ion batteries. The knowledge acquired by this project will be well suited for the BATTSi project, guiding the preparation of silicon anodes from recycled material sources. (EN), SiGNE - Silicon-based Next Generation Batteries (Horizon 2020) (EN) | The SiGNE project focuses on advancing silicon-based battery technologies by developing new materials and processes that improve the performances of next-generation lithium-ion batteries. It involves various European partners, and is well aligned with the industry needs of a sustainable and efficient energy storage. (EN), BALSA - Bio-sourced alternatives for lithium-silicon anodes (Reserach Council of Finland and Horizon 2020) (EN) | The Trans-Atlantic BALSA project (https://www.balsaproject.eu/) aims to develop a totally bio-based Si/C composite anode combined with solid electrolyte for LIBs. The knowhow gathered in this project concerning reduction of bio-silica (phytoliths) to mesoporous silicon is utilized in the BATTSi project. (EN), LIBASS - All-solid-state lithium ion battery with full silicon anode (Research Council of Finland) (EN) | The LIBASS project concentrated on the development of 'full silicon anode' for LIBs based on mesoporous silicon films produced from Si wafers through electrochemical etching. The project found the importance of pore characteristics and prelithiation to the battery performance. This information is utilized in the BATTSi project. (EN), AUTOT - Teaching and research environment for battery technology development (Finnish Ministry of Education and European Regional Development Fund (EN) | The AUTOT project is an investment and development initiative aimed at establishing a state-of-the-art battery testing laboratory at the University of Eastern Finland, dedicated to research, education, and industrial collaboration. This new facility will enable the assembly of coin and pouch cells, along with comprehensive electrochemical testing. The 1 M€ investment will be operational by spring 2025. (EN)
