Description (EN):

The overall objective is to stimulate a balanced, inclusive and sustainable socioeconomic development in the cross-border area. Specific objectives: 1. To develop the potential of tourism by promoting cultural heritage and values in both Municipalities of Struga and Pogradec. 2. To promote effective cross-border cooperation between the co-applicants located on the two sites of Ohrid Lake, this last intended and valued as the main touristic attraction and factor to join entities of different nationality into collaborative neighborhoods.

Achievements (EN):

Summary of the achieved results: S 1. Realized 10 trainings for Strengthening the capacities of tourist providers and operators in the municipalities of Struga and Pogradec. The trainings were carried out on the following topics:  What does it mean to live in a UNESCO region and impact on tourism  The role of local communities and businesses in the development of sustainable tourism  Communication skills in the tourist sector  How is a tourist experience created?  Development of tourist infrastructure for sustainable tourism  Social networks and media  Traditional media  Public performance and speeches  Sustainable tourism through marketing and promotion  Marketing strategy development 2. Prepared a database with 228 mapped tourist locations 3. Located 159 businesses and associations (as well as tourist service providers/operators). 4. The expert team worked on locating tourist hiking/biking trails and locations of natural significance and set the foundations for the preparation of a map that connects both the Municipalities of Struga and Pogradec that is in line with the tourist locations of natural and cultural significance. 5. Pedestrian Street is 80% completed, and construction activities for the rehabilitation of the Castle walls in the Municipality of Pogradec are in an advanced stage

Expected Results (EN):

Summary of expected results: 1. 1 team of sustainable tourism experts 2. 10 trainings to touristic service providers and operators 3. 1 Joint Touristic Association Struga and Pogradec 4. 4 actions designed and implemented to improve touristic infra structure 5. Installation of 40 PV of ST plants to touristic businesses with highest environmental impact 6. Waste collection improved in 40 heritage sites 7. CBC touristic map, including integrated touristic offers, created and introduced in Struga’ and Pogradec’ sides of Ohri/Ohrid Lake 8. 2 Electronic Touristic Terminals installed: 1 in Struga, 1 in Pogradec 9. 6 JTA and CBC events implemented 10. 1 Video Promotion & 1 Documentary Movie produced
