Description (EN):

The field of emergency situations is a crucial pillar for the well-being and security of the local community, as the management of emergencies significantly impacts the safety of human lives. Through preparedness and prompt response to various hazards, ranging from natural disasters to man-made incidents, lives are saved, and suffering is minimized. The overall objective of the project is to enhance the level of security and safety in the involved communities by acquiring modern firefighting equipment. Through this initiative, the communities aim to develop intervention capabilities in emergency situations, with a focus on managing and assisting residents. The acquisition of such equipment will provide communities with a faster and more efficient means of response to any fire-related incident, where reaction time is crucial in limiting damages and protecting the lives of residents. The primary goal of the project is to ensure the protection of lives and property for the residents of the municipalities. By acquiring this equipment, the partnering municipalities aim to reduce the risks and damages caused by unforeseen situations. Additionally, the project will contribute to raising awareness among the population, informing residents about disaster prevention measures and first aid actions. Through the implementation of this project, communities aspire to become more prepared and resilient in facing challenges. Natural disasters pose issues both nationally and locally, causing human and material losses as well as short or long-term negative impacts on the environment. The estimated results to be achieved through this project include the acquisition of equipment for emergency interventions, necessary for the efficient and rapid management of unforeseen situations in the two participating municipalities. The partnership between Tomesti commune in Romania and Ialoveni city in the Ialoveni district of the Republic of Moldova aims to enhance response capacity in emergency situations in both Tomesti and its surroundings, as well as in Ialoveni city. This collaboration seeks to create a network that allows the exchange of information regarding best practices in emergency prevention. The project will focus on developing the capacity of both communities, from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, to respond effectively to floods, earthquakes, large-scale fires, or unexpected heavy rainfall. Another important aspect of this collaboration is the geographical location. Both localities are included in the program area, and the distance between them requires a two-hour travel time. Through this partnership, Tomesti commune and Ialoveni city will encourage cross-border cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the two communities will collaborate in providing mutual assistance in managing emergency situations. The project aims to improve the quality of emergency situation management, making interventions more efficient and executed in a shorter time frame.

Actual Achievements (EN):

In reporting period 1, the Partners team travelled to Tomești, Romania, to attend the kick-off meeting with the Lead Partner and to discuss further actions. Both partners issued press releases to launch the project. Partner 2 concluded 2 contracts for information and publicity and financial audit. Lead Partner concluded 1 contract for publicity and information materials and 1 contract for consultancy.

EUStrategyDanubeRegion By contributing to strategies and policies, the project will bring sustainable benefits to the communities involved and will contribute to a harmonious development of the border region between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. For the European Union, as well as for the Republic of Moldova, ensuring the protection of people remains an absolute priority. Cross-border cooperation at the EU's external borders is a key priority under the European Neighbourhood Policy. Investment in the field of emergencies is a constant need in both participating countries. The EUSDR strategy encourages Member States to strengthen their emergency response capacities through the exchange of best practices, the development of common protocols and improved regional coordination. The project contributes to the specific objectives of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, namely investing in people and capacities. This strategy is a Community instrument for macro-regional cooperation of the riparian states, aimed at the economic, social and territorial development of the Danube macro-region. The project contributes to this strategy because Romania and the Republic of Moldova are part of the area covered by this macro-strategy, thus providing an appropriate framework to jointly address and solve problems through cross-border cooperation. The strategy is based on four main pillars such as connectivity, environmental protection, economic prosperity and governance. The present project aims to implement the EUSDR strategy by promoting cooperation in emergency situations in order to promote intercultural exchange and human resource development in Romania and Moldova.Cross-border cooperation will be achieved by drawing up a joint action protocol for emergency situations, will organize some joint simulations and exercises for testing equipment and response capability. In this way the two partners will collaborate effectively for the good of citizens.
