The municipalities of Valka and Valga, both are interested in creating joined Cross-Border people-to people actions, as the citizens of Cross-Border City Valka-Valga are living side - by- side on the daily basis, but there is lack of communication between them. Unfortunately economic activity within area is low, therefore both municipalities comparing to more developed Cities across the area, can give less financing to the Cultural activities, to support international engagement via Cross- Border city Valka-Valga. Each of the involved partners has locally based dance groups, that are performing mostly under countries supervision and projects, so each is mostly working only for the one side of the city. Each of the dance groups have them own experience gained, but no common experience. This project gives innovative opportunity to meet the neighbors and get to know them better via creation of common dance performance and workshops. No matter what abilities people will have – there will be a crew/a group where to join in. Also the project will contribute to exchange of good practice - by offering chance to the dancers and the heads of the dance collectives to exchange them experiences by joining the common performance and by joining to the common trip to the international Contemporary dance workshops "Riga/ON 2024". Currently the citizen activity of the Cross-Border City Valka-Valga ir low. The citizens rarely attend the cultural or sports events in the other side of the Cross-Border City, as the main reason mentioning the language barrier and the lack of information of the projects and events happening in the other side of the the border. The project will tackle the problem of the low citizens activity and engagement within the Valka - Valga area, by organizing common dance performance and workshops. The project expects to burst the feeling of belonging to the common Cross-Border society, and to raise the citizens engagement in the commonly organized projects. The dance is the language we all understand. Lats dance together! The Outcomes of the project are: -Gained new experience in creating and organizing Cross – Border performance for whole community; -United collaboration within Valka – Valga municipality; -More united Cross-Border society, that shows the will to participate in common workshops, activities and performances in the future; -Sustainability. The created dance performance will work as ongoing project, that will be shown in local Celebrations in future to advertise Cross-Border cooperation of local citizens. The Target groups of the project: -The Leaders of the Local ( Valka and Valga) dance collectives; -The dancers of the Local ( Valka and Valga) dance collectives; -The local Cross-border Valka - Valga community, involved in the workshops Output of the project - Participations in joined actions across border - 7 320 participation. Result indicator - Participations in joint actions across borders after project completion- 776 participation.

Actual Achievements (EN):

The Objective of the project is to strengthen relationships between local citizens of Cross-border City Valka-Valga, to enhance the communication and feeling of belonging to the international common Cross-border community, by organizing the high level dance performance and free of charge dance workshops for whole community. In the 1st reporting period LP and PP project teams have been working on achieving the Objective by: -creating the Cross - border project work group; - holding Cross- border Zoom meetings for all involved partners and experts; - involving in the project Cross- border experts ( *more experts will be added to the project in the 2nd reporting period) in the project activities; - involving the local people from Valga and Valka to attend the workshops; - involving the dance performance participants from both towns - Valka and Valka, to create the Cross border socializing between the participants. The progress towards achieving the objective is ongoing. The best evidence of enhanced communication between Valka and Valga communities is the performance, where Valka and Valka performance participants are learning the same dance, by being side by side and helping to understand the moves. Also I would like to mention the workshop "Lift Me Up and Dance!", where gain together mums and babies from Valka and Valga. The body language communication is flowing excellent, especially within the babies attending the workshop. The Objective of the project is to strengthen relationships between local citizens of Cross-border City Valka-Valga, to enhance the communication and feeling of belonging to the international common Cross-border community, by organizing the high level dance performance and free of charge dance workshops for whole community. In the 2nd reporting period LP and PP project teams have been working on achieving the Objective by: -involving the local people from Valga and Valka to attend the workshops; - involving the dance performance participants from both towns - Valka and Valka, to create the Cross border socializing between the participants. Participants from both towns learned dance steps together, creating a sense of cross-border communication and cooperation. The progress towards achieving the objective is ongoing. The best evidence of enhanced communication between Valka and Valga communities is the performance, where Valga and Valka performance participants are learning the same dance, by being side by side and helping to understand the moves.

"Together in sports" EE-LV00009 (EN) | The project was created and implemented by Valka and Valga municipalities, where municipality of Valka was the Leading partner ans municipality of Valga the Project partner. The project was a success, as created the bridge between Valka and Valga local sports schools and clubs, by giving chance to share experiences and create common tournaments.
This project "Together in sports" was supporting people-to-people actions, so as the new dance project is. The municipalities for these both projects are working side by side and the previously gained experience of cooperation is highly valuable. (EN), "Valga-Valka Twin -Town Centre Development" EST-LAT-51 (EN) | Municipalities of Valka and Valga has long - lasting cooperation - lasting over 25 years. As both Border Towns are sharing same Urban space, municipalities decided to promote the uniqueness of the Towns cooperation between two towns by developing the Centre of two towns, creating one - common Cross-Border City Valka-Valga centre , that is connecting Two sides of theCross- Border City.
Also in this project Valka Municipality was taking the Leading partners part, gaining highly valuable experience in creating , promoting and implementing and running the project. (EN)

EUStrategyBalticSeaRegion This is the strategic document is a cooperation agreement, signed by countries bordering Baltic Sea , to deal with commonly experienced challenges across the region and to look for common opportunities that gives the region.
The Strategy is divided into three objectives, which represent the three key challenges of the Strategy, where the most relevant objective to the project is:
-Connecting the region.
ach objective relates to a wide range of policies and has an impact on the other objectives. The Strategy helps to mobilize all relevant EU funding and policies and coordinate the actions of the European Union, EU countries, regions, pan-Baltic organizations, financing institutions and non-governmental bodies to promote a more balanced development of the Baltic Sea Region.

The “Estonia 2035” development strategy sets out strategic goals for the state and people of Estonia for the next fifteen years, and determines the changes necessary for achieving them.

Other Vidzeme Planning Region Sustainable Development Strategy 2030. This Strategy works as a guide to strengthen intentions and abilities of people living and working in Vidzeme to promote sustainable and balanced development of the region. The strategic directions of the Strategy are:
-healthy, active and talented people;
-competitive ecomomics;
-territory suitable for families.
The Strategy is highlighting 6 long term priorities, where project is falling under 6th long-term priority - "Attractiviness of places", that states the need for:
- cultural and natural capital potential to be thoughtfully used,
- initiatives aimed at the preservation and development of Vidzeme’s cultural and natural capital;
- community-building activities to be successfully implemented. Particular attention to be paid to the development of a sense of belonging, loyalty and patriotism in the society.
