Cultural heritage objectives are vital for preserving the countries identity while promoting the sustainable tourism and contributing to the economic development of the areas, through cultural activities and heritage preservation. They serve as a bridge between the past and the future, promoting a sense of belonging and continuity. The project HISTORY JOINS US, seeks to address the common territorial challenges in the cultural areas of Romania and Republic of Moldova. There are challenges that are encountered that include the promotion of the socio-economic development, the promotion of culture and sustainable development, the impact of the pandemic on the cultural field. Overcoming partly the above mentioned challenges will be achieved through rehabilitating the heritage objective- the Statue of Ioan Voda cel Viteaz from Roscani, Romania through investments, through organizing capacity building activities for educational units (600 students will benefit from history lessons), 3 online modules addressed to at least 60 people to improve their skills and knowledge regarding cultural management, heritage and less know history from both participating countries, information seminars that will reunite experts in the field of culture in order to promote the culture and tourism within by highlighting cultural heritage and to approach the topic of sustainable tourism practices and the preservation of important historical objectives such as the statue of Ioan Vodă cel Viteaz, cross-border forums addressed to 200 people from both Romania and Republic of Moldova, and promotional visits at cultural destinations in order to explore and understand the cultural heritage of the participating countries. The change that the project aims to make is to restore a neglected statue of historical significance, enhancing the community engagement and fostering cross-border cultural exchanges. A cross-border approach is necessary as it acknowledges the intertwined history and cultural ties between Romania and Republic of Moldova, leveraging resources and knowledge from both sides for a more impactful outcome. By incorporating online modules on an e-learning platform makes knowledge and training more accessible to a wider target group, including individuals who may not be able to attend in-person training sessions due to logistical constraints or other reasons. This enhances inclusivity and ensures that capacity buliding activities reach a larger number of participants, both within Romania and Republic of Moldova.

Expected Achievements (EN): To improve and promote the cultural and historical heritage in Galati county, Romania and Cahul District, Republic of Moldova through rehabilitation works for the Statue of Ioan Voda cel Viteaz in Galati and organization of 13 joint cultural events.

The activities of the project contributed to solving the sectoral problems defined in the Master Plan for National Tourism of Romania 2007 – 2026. The immediate objective is to formulate a general policy framework for the sustainable development and management of the tourism industry in terms of natural and cultural resources.
This plan is an umbrella policy that includes different plans and strategies, described to optimize the sector's contribution to the national economy. Objective: Increasing the visibility of the cultural and historical cross-border heritage of the Central Region of Republic of Moldova and Galati County, Romania by strengthening the capacities of cultural institutions, creating a network of Tourist information Centers in the major destinations promoted. Results: Improved knowledge and skills of 20 guides for tourism capitalization of cultural heritage, eight interconnected tourist areas, increased number of visitors, the cultural and historical heritage promoted on the internal and external tourist market in the cross-border network of eight remarkable tourist areas.
Therefore, the project "HISTORY JOINS US" capitalizes on the former experience of cooperation achieved through the implementation of Exploiting and enhancing the visibility of cultural and historical heritage within a cross-border network of museums - Tourist Information Centers project in order to enhance the promotion of the common heritage in Romania and Republic of Moldova.

Objective: Development of a cross border green cultural tourism in the project countries. Among the activities implemented within the project is the Green Tourist Weekend which aim was to promote the potential of the Black Sea basin countries as undiscovered places of historical and cultural tourism and to raise awareness of the general public on the possible solutions for protecting heritage while making advantage of its values. The green tourist weekends brought together tourist market operators on international level and green technology producers/distributors, and facilitated them in promoting their services and innovations to the general public and local authorities. This project offers a valuable experience as the HISTORY JOINS US project will develop new tourist routes of historical and cultural heritage sites and offers inputs on methods to promote the cultural-touristic routes.

Objective - Developing cultural tourism in the border area Galati-Cahul, results - creation of an ethnic-cultural museum in the leisure area Garboavele Forest, consisting of 4 traditional households and the endowment of the households with traditional objects.
The project "History Joins Us" builds on the prior cooperation experience gained during the implementation of the project "Village Museum - traditional household", continuing the efforts to develop and promote common heritage in Galati, Romania and Cahul, Republic of Moldova. Project objectives and main results: General objective - To sustain euroregional cooperation through increasing the capacity of public authorities - members of the "Lower Danube" Euroregion - to jointly manage projects with cross-border impact and to intensify the cooperation relations at cultural level.
Specific objectives - Promoting the image of the "Lower Danube" Euroregion and of its member regions, by highlighting the extremely rich common and specific cultural values in the area; Achieving an experience exchange at the level of public authorities, members of the Euroregion, through the joint organization of great cultural events; Strengthening cross-border cooperation relations at the level of civil society and valuing cultural and ethnic diversity at the Eastern border of the European Union.
Results - an experience exchange, a cultural promotion campaign, 15% increase of the ethnic minorities' involvement; high performance logistical base for big public events; operating resources for the partners in the project.

Galati, Romania and Hincesti, Republic of Moldova (EN) | The cooperation proposed by the present project The project „History Joins Us” builds on the cooperation between the Territorial Administrative Unit Galati County and Hincesti District County for the implementation of the project THE PAST HAS A NEW FUTURE, financed under the Joint Operational Programme Romania - Republic of Moldova 2014-2020. The experience gained with the implementation of this project brings updated information on cooperation methods and in cultural promotion in an intensely digitalized society.
Moreover, the previous project focused on three key aspects of future cultural and touristic development in the area which are similar to the project "History Joins Us": investments in heritage infrastructure, people to people activities and strategies for culture.
(EN), ESCAPELAND - Development and Promotion of Active Tourism in the Black Sea Basin (EN) | The project ESCAPELAND was financed under The Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Black Sea Basin 2014-2020 and included, among other activities, the creation of a touristic circuit for the active tourism. As such it offers valuable experience and informative background for tackling initiative of the project HISTORY JOINS US to create a new touristic route, this time focusing on cultural and historical heritage. Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

EUStrategyDanubeRegion Regarding Action Plan, Priority area 3: culture and tourism, the cultural heritage targeted within the project area plays a vital role in shaping a state’s identity, fostering pride and unity among people, also it promotes the tourism and economic development, it preserves history by educating and inspiring the future generations and encourages cross-border collaboration. Our project takes place in the area covered by the EU Strategy for the Danube region and it coincides with the PA objective: valorizing, promoting and protecting the cultural heritage. The project contains activities (rehabilitation, information seminars, trainings, festival, cultural touristic circuit) that aim at strengthening the management capacities in the cultural field and tourist attractions, their promotion in the cross-border network, identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities for the development of cultural and historical tourism as well as the maintenance and promotion of the region’s cultural identity.
SeaBasinStrategyBlackSea Two countries of the The Common Maritime Agenda (CMA) for the Black Sea partnership participate in our project: Romania and Republic of Moldova. One of the main goals of the partnership is “A competitive, innovative and sustainable blue economy for the Black Sea”. From this point of view, the project “History that joins us” through the joint activities implemented within the project creates the premises for a sustainable tourism and economic development in the project area by increasing its cultural and historical potential which attracts tourists interested in experiencing the rich cultural heritage of the Black Sea Region, key goal of the CMA. Concerning the “Fostering Investment in the Black Sea blue economy” goal, our project aimed at preserving and promoting cultural heritage sites which enhances the attractiveness of the Black Sea region as a tourist destination. Increased tourist traffic stimulates investment in tourism infrastructure such as recreational facilities, transportation networks etc., thereby supporting the development of the blue economy.
Other Development Strategy for Galati County 2021-2028
The project contributes to the achievement of the strategic objective 8 - Vibrant county with increased attractiveness for residents and visitors through the diversity of the cultural, sports and leisure facilities, specific objective 8.1 - Increased cultural vitality (development and consolidation of Galati County as an important cultural center at the national level through interventions regarding infrastructure and cultural agenda of the county, the local intangible heritage and supporting relevant local actors who have an
increased interest in raising standards in this domain) and 8.2 - Built heritage protected and valued in a sustainable manner (protecting historical monuments that shape and contribute to the promotion of the county identity, but, at the same time, it also aims at an active capitalization of as many as possible built heritage elements, so that they become part of the cultural offer of the county.
The investment proposed within the project is listed in Annex 2 of the Strategy, Action Plan , Objective 8, point 70.
Other Regarding the Socio-economic Development Strategy of Cahul District 2023-2030, General objective 4. Stimulating the development of tourism. Our project takes place in the area covered by the Socio-economic Development Strategy of Cahul District 2023-2030 and it coincides with the objectives: tourist information and promotion, valorizing, promoting and protecting the cultural heritage. The project contains activities (information seminars, forums, trainings, festival, study visits, tourism promotion) that aim to promote the cultural values of the Cahul region; determining and establishing sustainable cross-border partnerships; stimulating social and economic cohesion in the Cahul region by revitalizing traditional crafts and promoting cultural heritage for a sustainable development of the region.
