Het dunbevolkte grensgebied tussen Zeeland en Vlaanderen kent jammer genoeg vandaag nog slecht afgestemde mobiliteitssystemen aan weerskanten van de grens. Door de beperkte bereikbaarheid van de regio vormt de grens er zowel een juridische, administratieve als gevoelsmatige barrière. Vlotte grensoverstijgende mobiliteit levert echter een belangrijke bijdrage aan de bereikbaarheid, leefbaarheid, voorzieningen en economie van de grensregio. GO Scheldemond streeft ernaar de barrières aan te pakken door de mobiliteit in de regio te verbeteren, met een focus op publiek vervoer (openbaar vervoer, vraagafhankelijk vervoer en deelmobiliteit). Het project streeft ernaar om reizigersinformatie te verbeteren over bestaande verbindingen en aansluitingen. Het project richt zich op forenzen, scholieren/studenten, bezoekers/toeristen en mensen die te maken hebben met ‘vervoersarmoede’. Het concept "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS) wordt toegepast, waarbij gebruikers via een gezamenlijk digitaal kanaal verschillende mobiliteitsdiensten kunnen plannen, boeken en betalen. Validering en coördinatie van verkeersdata zijn cruciaal om de vraag naar publiek vervoer in kaart te brengen. Het project omvat ook aanbevelingen voor opschaling naar de hele Vlaams-Nederlandse grensregio en het in kaart brengen van alle vervoersstromen, inclusief gemotoriseerd wegverkeer en fietsverkeer, om het potentieel van publiek vervoer te maximaliseren.

Unfortunately, the sparsely populated border region between Zeeland and Flanders still has poorly coordinated mobility systems on both sides of the border. Due to the limited accessibility of the region, the border forms a legal, administrative and emotional barrier. However, smooth cross-border mobility makes an important contribution to the accessibility, quality of life, facilities and economy of the border region. GO Scheldemond aims to tackle the barriers by improving mobility in the region, with a focus on public transport (public transport, demand-responsive transport and shared mobility). The project aims to improve traveller information about existing connections and links. The project focuses on commuters, pupils/students, visitors/tourists and people who are affected by 'transport poverty'. The concept of "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS) is applied, whereby users can plan, book and pay for various mobility services via a joint digital channel. Validation and coordination of traffic data are crucial to map the demand for public transport. The project also includes recommendations for scaling up to the entire Flemish-Dutch border region and mapping all transport flows, including motorised road traffic and bicycle traffic, to maximise the potential of public transport.
