CrossRoad addresses the practical challenge of connectivity and cooperation across borders by reconstructing and enhancing a critical section of local road infrastructure. During the project, its partners will upgrade a total of 8,8 km stretch connecting neighbouring communities, aiming to significantly improve everyday travel, boost local economies and encourage stronger community interactions. More than laying new asphalt, CrossRoad is about building a tangible, lasting pathway to collaboration. Through modern road infrastructure improvements, CrossRoad makes daily commuting safer and more reliable for local residents and businesses, reducing travel times and increasing accessibility. Local farmers can experience quicker and safer journeys to markets, while families gain easier opportunities to maintain close ties with relatives across the border, strengthening community bonds. Beyond physical improvements, CrossRoad actively engages communities in meaningful exchanges, workshops and cultural events, fostering a spirit of shared purpose and mutual understanding. It is about more than roads—it is about building bridges between people. CrossRoad also incorporates innovative solutions like a carpooling application designed to promote sustainable travel and reduce carbon emissions. By encouraging residents to share rides, this app not only helps the environment but also fosters social connections and supports a community-driven approach to mobility. Additionally, the project includes a comprehensive climate vulnerability audit in each participating Municipality, identifying potential climate-related risks and suggesting proactive measures to ensure the road infrastructure remains resilient in the face of future climate challenges. Ultimately, CrossRoad is designed to directly enhance quality of life, promote sustainable economic growth and strengthen cross-border relations, creating a truly connected and thriving border region
