The idea of the project partnership is a response to the current situation faced by many Polish organisations/institutions conducting cooperation with Russia, which was severed after the aggression against Ukraine. LP, as the lead partner in 2004-2021, has actively cooperated with Russia in the framework of several cross-border projects, to which it has also invited PP1, Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship, and the Municipality of Olsztyn. The concept of setting up the LP stemmed from the firm belief shared by the founding communes that promoting a single castle or a single town would never be as successful as promoting many castles located on a common Trail (about 750 km) leading through: Bytów, Lębork, Człuchów, Malbork, Sztum, Gniew, Kwidzyn, Nowe, Ostróda, Nidzica, Działdowo, Olsztyn, Lidzbark Warmiński, Kętrzyn, Giżycko. The Gothic Castles Trail was awarded Certificate of the Polish Tourist Organization in the competition for the Best Tourist Product 2022. LP and PP1 are organisations affected by the suspension of cross-border cooperation programmes with Russia and are therefore looking for new partners from the South Baltic area (SBA) in the field of regional, historical education of children and young people. LP intends to pass its experience and knowledge gained in Polish-Russian relations (e.g. live history lessons/knowledge competitions for pupils) to new partnerships from the Interreg South Baltic Programme countries. For the first time, the LP will cooperate with PP2 known for Hovdala Castle (100,000 visitors per year) and surrounding areas in the region - Wanås Castle, Bäckaskog Castle. The Partner also has a rich offer of history lessons in the castle. For the first time, the LP will also cooperate with PP3 dealing with, among other things, cultural education and tradition. The Cultural and Historical Museum in Rietavas, Giliogiris Manor, Cold War Museum in Plunge, among others, are located in the PP3 area. The project will be a test of new partnerships and a training platform for all PPs. The project will also respond to the need to define the goods and culture of the SBA as attractive, worth knowing and recommending by young people using means and tools used by this age group. The project will aim to: a. building cross-border cooperation and finding cross-border partners for local entities affected by the suspension of cross-border cooperation programmes with Russia, including partners from the Olsztyński subregion; b. to increase the capacity and skills for international cooperation among diverse partners and stakeholders to address common cross-border issues; c. to build up cooperation networks and empower children and young people as creators and consumers of cultural heritage of the SBA. It includes the following WP1: strengthening the cross-border cooperation in cultural education of young people and new Partners with activities: 6 study visits of young bloggers/influencers to Partners countries (2 visits to each country) with the results: articles/films/posts/rolls on blog/social media; 1 history and landscape knowledge digital competition for pupils in PL, LT, SE, - the competition will culminate in the presentation of at least 50 best works on a shared interactive map produced by LP with links to the websites of the PPs; 3 meetings of employees engaged in the culture/education/tourism industries in PL, LT, SE on topics how to alive sites to attract young inhabitants of the SBA. A novelty will be the use of LP’s organisational and content-related potential acquired in Polish-Russian projects for the benefit of PP2, PP 3. The implementation of the project activities will be based on the experience and expectations of youth and young people as creators and recipients. The results of the project will be made available to Polish municipalities in the Olsztyński subregion, which have no partner in the Interreg South Baltic Programme countries e.g. Olsztyn, Nidzica, Lidzbark Warmiński, Kętrzyn.
