Description (EN):

The "ENERGY: Smart Actions for Energy Efficiency" project addresses key challenges in the South Adriatic region, specifically the high energy consumption in public and residential buildings and the lack of awareness about energy efficiency measures. Its overall goal is to improve energy efficiency by analyzing and monitoring energy consumption in selected buildings across partner municipalities. Through the implementation of pilot actions, the project will generate tailored guidelines to optimize energy use, ensuring that the findings are rooted in real-world data. Local communities will be actively engaged, involving various target groups to increase civic responsibility and awareness of energy-saving measures. This direct involvement not only strengthens the project’s impact but also enhances public knowledge on energy management practices. The primary beneficiaries include local authorities, stakeholders, interest groups, and the wider community, all of whom will exploit the project’s results to adopt better energy practices. Ultimately, the project aims to foster widespread awareness of energy efficiency among citizens. Cross-border, transnational, and inter-regional cooperation is essential for the project's success, as energy challenges in the region are shared across national borders. This cooperation not only fosters joint solutions but also creates valuable opportunities for mutual learning among partners, strengthening overall project capacity and promoting the transfer of knowledge and best practices across regions. Tackling these issues at a local or national level in isolation would limit the scope and impact, whereas collaborative efforts ensure that solutions are comprehensive and adaptable to the unique contexts of each municipality. A key innovation of the project is the deployment of advanced energy monitoring equipment in select buildings. This will allow for real-time data collection, providing valuable insights into energy consumption patterns and identifying inefficiencies. These insights will inform customized recommendations, enabling targeted and effective energy efficiency improvements.

Expected Achievements (EN):

To establish a comprehensive understanding of the current energy efficiency measures and consumption patterns in the selected areas (IT,AL,ME). The partners will analyse the existing building energy measures and the best practices in the territories. The main objective of the WP2 is to implement and test energy monitoring systems in selected buildings in the involved territories, and to develop guidelines for improving energy efficiency based on the data collected. The main objective od WP3 is to foster a culture of energy efficiency within local communities and to build the capacity of project partners and stakeholders for sustainable energy management.

It aims to simultaneously balance economic, social and environmental dimensions and assist regions in currently in transition to sustainable economies, thus achieving sustainable growth. SYNGGI has supported policymakers to propose different investment policies, whereas the long-term dimension of sustainable growth. At present, despite the existence of many of the EU’s green growth policies and laws exist, lengthy implementation timeframes and gaps persist. Pietracatella (EN) | The Municipality of Pietracatella (PP2) participated in the initiative BeCome - From Villages to Energy Communities, which was designed to inform, train, and support small municipalities in the process of creating Energy Communities (CER). The knowledge gained from this initiative will be shared with the partnership of the ENERGY project, and the data collected will be analyzed during the initial activities of the project. (EN), STOREMORE (Interreg DANUBE) (EN) | The project focuses on analysing and promoting energy storage solutions, developing tools to mitigate the unpredictability of renewable energy sources, and contributing to an accelerated transition to renewable energy and balanced electrical grids. The strategic direction of the project is to expedite the transition to a renewable energy-based economy in the Danube region, enhancing energy storage capacities to mitigate the variability of renewable energy sources (RES) and promote a more balanced electrical grid. This is crucial as increasing the share of RES in electricity generation requires a more balanced source of these energy sources. Such balance is achievable only through a diverse portfolio of energy storage options.
