With awareness and concern for environmental conservation and sustainability comes the need for comprehensive, centralised and widely accessible information. Partners in Kent and in Nord Pas-de-Calais recognise that natural heritage information (fauna/flora) is a key requirement for the success of any envoronmentally sound decisions and initiatives and that there is a pressing need to collect, manage and disseminate such information more effectively through the use of electronic information management systems and communication technology. Partners in Kent and in Nord Pas-de-Calais also believe that substantial value added can be generated by co-ordinating their efforts in responding to this need and have developed a joint project to improve and increase : - cross border natural heritage information management capacity; - awareness of and access to cross border data and information for professional and public use; - natural heritage recording initiatives and recording skills.
