Description (EN):

Low accessibility and attractiveness of common cultural heritage objects situated in historically interrelated regions of Rokiškis (Lithuania) and Postavy (Belarus), as well as insufficient employment of their potential for the tourism development has a negative impact over on the sustainable development of the regions. Combination of the regions’ competitive resources in the fields of tourism and recreation could create a synergy of joint tourism products and promotion activities.The project activities aim to intensify intercultural dialogue and increase the tourist tourism attractiveness and economic competitiveness of the cross-border region by development of closer cultural connections and creation of a competitive, heritage-based tourism cluster in Rokiškis and Postavy regions.

Achievements (EN):

For the purposes of promotion of tourism and historical-cultural heritage, the Tiesenhausen alley, leading to the Tiesenhausen manor in Rokiskis and the Tiesenhausen palace-museum in Postavy were renovated. The Rokiskis Regional Museum, situated in the premises of the Tiesenhausen manor in Rokiskis, has purchased a collection of 13 showcases and produced the mini-model of the manor. In Postavy, the design project “Exhibition of basements of central and northern wings of Tiesenhausen palace and museum exhibition of scientific taxidermic laboratory of Count Konstantin Tiesenhausen” was prepared and the palace was equipped with equipment, furniture and exhibits, following the design project. Also, an ethnographical expedition, dedicated to the heritage of the Tiesenhausen family, was organised in Lithuania and Belarus. The results of the expedition were presented during the international conference in Rokiskis. At the end of the project the joint cross-border tourism route was created, presenting the objects of cultural-historical heritage in both regions.

Expected Results (EN):

The project will increase the accessibility and attractiveness of the common Lithuanian-Belarusian cultural-historical heritage by renovating Tyzenhaus alley in Rokiškis and Tyzenhaus palace in Postavy; stimulate cooperation in the field of tourism and culture by organisation organising of the an ethnographical expedition and conductiong of the an International international conference based on the expedition findings; promote cross cross-border tourism by introductiong of a new cross cross-border tourist route, which shall integrate the cultural-historical heritage objects in Rokiškis and Postavy regions into a competitive touristm product.
