Description (EN):

The objective of the project is the infrastructure development of the border areas of Hungary and Serbia, and the expansion of the transport network between the two countries to interlink the direct target areas of the project to EUROVELO 6 main road. The expected result on the Hungarian side is 4,28 km bicycle lane phase laid, which can be used by the cyclists with various needs. Within the framework of the project the partner from Horgos get the construction plans (27,5km) made related to the phases of Hungarian sections and to the bicycle path of the Serbian Pannonian Eight. Alongside the connecting roads, concerned in the project, different cycling needs come up, like: touristical (scenery, spa), educational (schools, paths) and professional (workers) traffic. The final objective is the implementation of a cross-border bicycle network, which is built up from more units, and which leads up to EUROVELO network. The present project contains one-one unit of the network on both sides of the border.The construction includes on the Hungarian side the construction of a cycle path between Mórahalom and Röszke on the link public road No. 5512 between 4+720 km (school of Nagyszéksós) and 0+383 km (service road by motorway M5). On the other hand, construction of bicycle roads will be implemented in Novi Sad, from Temerinski put to E75 highway, connecting Serbia and Hungary. Also, partner institutions from Mórahalom and Novi Sad will develop fesibility studies and main project for next future road construction which will create even tighter connection between neighbouring countries.

Achievements (EN):

This project deals with infrastructure development in the border regions of Hungary and Serbia, and the expansion of the transport network between the two countries. The ultimate objective was the implementation of a cross-border cycling network, comprising several sections and leading to the EuroVelo network. The present project involves a section of the network on each side of the border. In the course of the project, a 4.28 km cycling road was constructed on the Hungarian side, which can be used by cyclists with various needs. The Serbian partner from Horgoš prepared the construction plans for a 27.5 km section connected to the Hungarian sections and to the cycling path of the Serbian Pannonian Eight. There are different cycling needs along the roads in the target area: tourism-related (scenery and spa tourism), educational (schools, educational paths) and professional (commuter) traffic. On the Hungarian side, the construction included the building of a cycling path between Mórahalom and Röszke parallel to the public road no. 5512 between 4+720 km (school of Nagyszéksós) and 0+383 km (service road by motorway M5). On the other side, the cycling paths were constructed in Novi Sad, from the Temerin Road to the E75 highway, which connects Serbia with Hungary. These constructions connect the direct target areas of the project to the EuroVelo cycling network. The partner institutions from Mórahalom and Novi Sad also developed feasibility studies on future road constructions, which will create an even tighter connection between the neighbouring countries.
