Description (EN): The overall objective of the project is reduction in the growth rates of acquiring of disability and improvement of the level and quality of life among children residing in towns and rural areas.

Achievements (EN):

1. One fully operating mobile orthopaedic diagnostic laboratory established. 2. 8500 school-age children from small towns and rural areas of the Kaliningrad region of Russia and Warmian-Masurian Voevodship of Poland passed diagnostic examination under the programme for prevention of postural disorders and scoliosis. 1170 children passed inpatient treatment and prevention activities. About 1050 children exhibited improved objective medical indicators after implementation of treatment and prevention measures. 3. One unified systematized electronic database of children with postural disorders and scoliosis established and introduced. 4. One comprehensive treatment and prevention program to prevent postural disorders and scoliosis among children from small towns and rural areas implemented. 5. Medical facilities of sanatorium “Pionersk” and “Ameryka” hospital renovated and equipped. 6. 5 innovative algorithms for inpatient prevention and treatment of postural disorders developed. 7. 5 cross-border activities aimed at professional development of medical staff implemented. 8. Several publications done in order to fulfill the visibility rule and for potential experience exchange and information distribution purposes.

Expected Results (EN):

- 1 operating mobile orthopedic diagnostic laboratory - 9500 school-age children from small towns and rural areas of the Kaliningrad region of Russia and Warmian-Masurian voivodeship of Poland passed diagnostic examination under the programme for prevention of postural disorders and scoliosis - 1170 children passed inpatient treatment and prevention activities - about 1050 children with improved objective medical indicators after implementation of treatment and prevention measures - 1 unified systematised electronic database of children with postural disorders and scoliosis developed and introduced - 1 comprehensive treatment and prevention programme to prevent postural disorders and scoliosis among children from small towns and rural areas implemented - 1993 sq.m. of medical facilities space modernised (sanatorium «Pionersk» - 780 sq.m.; ‘Ameryka’ hospital- 1213 sq.m.) - 297 sq. meters of pavement on the territory of sanatorium “Pionersk” will be renovated - 61 units of medical diagnostic equipment and other medical equipment procured (sanatorium «Pionersk» – 13 units; ‘Ameryka’ hospital – 48 units) - 2 units of kitchen equipment procured (for sanatorium “Pionersk” – 1 unit, for ‘Ameryka’ hospital – 1 unit) - 58 units of computer and office equipment for ‘Ameryka’ hospital procured - 1460 sq. meters of roof of building unit no.4 at sanatorium “Pionersk” repaired - 1 ramp of of building unit no.4 at sanatorium “Pionersk” repaired - 5 innovative algorithms for inpatient prevention and treatment of postural disorders (based on the recommendations of the international group of experts SOSORT 2006) developed - 5 innovative algorithms on methods of instrumental diagnostics and treatment of comorbidity of feet during inpatient prevention of postural disorders developed - 6 cross-border activities aimed at professional development of medical staff implemented - 30 representatives of medical staff of the partner organisations participated in professional development activities - 1 collection of articles on scientific advances and practical methods of diagnostics, prevention and treatment of postural disorders and scoliosis issued - 11100 copies of project materials published - 6 publications in the media of the Kaliningrad region and the Warmian-Masurian voivodeship
