Modernization of the local road infrastructure, which enables reaching and continuous use of resources as well as upgrade of the existing institution capacities of road infrastructure of the neighboring border municipalities of Surdulica and Tran in the area of mutual control of the resources is the base strategy of the project. This is achieved by adopting building and road maintenance in accordance with the EU standards in municipalities of Surdulica and Tran and concrete activities on local road maintenance and reconstruction of the part of the local road in the length of 3.081 km which connects the border settlement of Palja (The monastery of Vavedenje Svete Bogorodice) with the international route М1.13. The municipality of Tran has a lot of experience implementing infrastructural projects from SAPARD and structural funds of the EU, which is the basis of a quality exchange of experiences. The series of seminars on both sides of the border enables the representatives of the institutions of road infrastructure of both municipalities to get acquainted with the EU standards for building and maintaining roads and the possibilities that structural, cohesive and IPA funds of the EU give. Mutual coordination and cooperation on the reconstruction of the local road is used so that the representatives of the institutions of road infrastructure of both municipalities get practical knowledge on all of the phases of building the road. Creating a mutual plan of maintaining local roads and the plan of mutual usage of the newly acquired multi-functional vehicle for cleaning and maintenance of local roads gives way to optimum and rational usage of the existing resources of both of the municipalities. The series of actions which deal with cleaning of local roads on both sides of the border brings to practical realization of mutually acquired and granted plans.

Achievements (EN):

The local road connecting the border area of Palja (the monastery of “Vavedenje Svete Bogorodice”) with the international route M1.13 was reconstructed in length of 3.081 km; -The total of 5 seminars were organized, 2 in Surdulica and 3 in Tran, concerning the exchange of experience in road building and maintenance in accordance with the EU standards; -A mutual plan was developed for local road maintenance and usage of the multi-functional vehicle in municipalities of Surdulica and Tran; -The multi-functional vehicle was acquired and the local roads in both municipalities in length of 100 km were cleaned.
