Main objective : ECO FAB aims to set up a trans-Channel think tank to create theme-based networks which will propose methods of prospecting for projects and schemes involved in eco-renovation and eco-building. This pilot project’s objective is to identify the networks with regard to resources and materials, training and qualifications, professional techniques and job descriptions, policies being developed for accompanying contractors, urban and rural revitalisation in the framework of sustainable development. Main actions : - Organization of the Amblie event: “L’éco-construction en pratique”, aimed to designing and presenting the eco-renovation prototype of a school built in the 50’s. - Organization of the “Eco-Open Houses” event in Brighton, aimed at professionals and general public to promote 15 examples of cutting edge and award winning eco-construction projects. - Organization of the “Pathways to Construction” Hastings event targeted at young people with the aim of interesting them in careers in construction, eco-construction and traditional skills. - Organization of the ECO-fab forum in Amblie and the “Pathways to Construction” forum in Hastings, to promote sustainable development in the building sector.

Objectif général : Le projet ECO FAB vise à créer un groupe de réflexion transmanche destiné à la création de réseaux thématiques d’acteurs pour la mise en oeuvre d’outils communs de prospective dans une logique de projets relatifs aux démarches d’éco-rénovation et éco construction. Ce projet pilote propose d’identifier des réseaux au regard des ressources en matières premières, des formations et qualification, des techniques professionnelles et des référentiels métiers, des politiques mises en œuvre pour l’accompagnement des maîtres d’ouvrages, de la revitalisation urbaine et rurale dans le cadre du développement durable. Principales actions : - Mise en place de la manifestation « l’éco-construction en pratique » à Amblie, qui vise à élaborer et à présenter le prototype de l’éco-rénovation d’une école des années 50. - Organisation de la manifestation « Eco Open House » à Brighton, qui vise à promouvoir auprès des professionnels et du public, 15 réalisations innovantes de projets éco-construits primés. - Organisation de la manifestation « Pathways to Construction » à Hastings, qui vise à sensibiliser les jeunes en vue de leur orientation vers les métiers de la construction, de l’éco construction et des techniques traditionnelles. - Organisation du forum ECO-fab à Amblie et du forum « Pathways to Construction » à Hastings, destinés à promouvoir le développement durable dans la construction.

Achievements (EN):

The ECOFAB project (2009-2010) led to creating a network of 17 organisations working in vocational training and eco-construction in Lower Normandy and East Sussex. Exchanges have been maintained via ECOFAB 2 (2011-2013). This network offers a wide range of opportunities: within four years, 70 French vocational trainees went to England to experiment new construction techniques with their English counterparts. Students, trainees, teachers, craftsmen and eco-construction experts from France and England had the opportunity to meet at annual events such as “Eco Open Houses” in Brighton & Hove and “Pathway to Construction” in Hastings. The year 2013 offers a further four opportunities for the network from April to October: wood construction training session on the UK side; seminar on the use of oak in the building sector, training on earthen construction techniques or Eco-Construction Forum on the French side.
