Improved services for the visitors of the botanical gardens will be insured through cooperation between the Latvian National Botanic Garden, Tartu University Botanical Garden and its Society of Friends (EE) and the Environmental Development Association of Latvia. The project will provide an interactive map for visitors, topographic maps, plant database, as well as important experience exchange for personnel of the Latvian and Estonian botanic gardens.

Achievements (EN):

Project „SmartGardens” has published brochures inviting to take a trip to the Botanic Gardens to see, to smell, to touch and hear the green part of our world tour. Botanical Gardens of the University of Tartu, Tallinn, University of Latvia and National Botanic Garden invite you together enjoy the spring, watch the blooming of the flowers and apple trees and inspiring tweeting of birds. The odorous lilacs collections allure to a romantic meeting in the garden. The doors of botanical gardens are opened all year round. In winter visitors can enjoy stunning beauty of orchids, camellias and blooming hellebores which is only a small part of all living plant libraries. During the summer magnificent peonies are glow in different colours and lilies are blooming. It is time for picnics, family fests and concerts. In autumn appear colourful trees and bushes. The long blooming period are asters, black-eyed Susans and goldenrods. This is only a small part of the information which is available in brochures. Our aim is to improve quality of collection management and services provided to the public at National Botanic Garden of Latvia and the Botanic Garden of University of Tartu. Soon will be developed data base in which will be published around 3000 species from botanical gardens in Latvia and Estonia.
