Schools and other institutions providing vocational/adult training need to adapt to the new market conditions in order to give an adequate response to the market needs. The question of internationalisation of vocational education and training (VET) is not a matter of choice, but a matter of necessity. Companies participating in cross-border collaborations create contacts for internationalisation, export and product development by forming networks of cluster where both the educational and business sector interacts together. Today the crediting of VET competencies (ECVET) exist and is recognized by all countries but up until today there are no practical experience in using this tool for either companies or schools. This project will bring the awareness and open up new opportunities in creating a dialogue with authorities, schools and companies that will lead to practical know-how about common validation methods and new models supporting cross-border collaboration. The aim is to develop and piloting the first international cross-border VET Education in the green and blue sector, involving 40 students and 5 countries. Practical experience and analyses of national curricula together with ECVET regulations in the specific vocational fields will be a main part of the project. This will promote steps towards internationalisation of VET schools and regional companies. The concept and curriculum would be transferable to other branches. The benefits for the companies would be to look at the South Baltic as an interregional labour market for international business cooperation’s with access to a new skilled and qualified labour force. For the VET schools, collaborations and cross-border cooperation with companies will make them more competitive and give them access to discover Erasmus mobility. On a policy level (Ministry for Economy, Ministry for Education) the benefits are practice-proofed approaches of labour mobility and practice-proofed approaches of validation.

Achievements (EN):

What changed with BBVET? VET students are less likely to go abroad for a part of their education than university students. BBVET is creating the basis for a program to change this - an international Vocational Education and Training (VET) program for Mechatronics and EdTech in the South Baltic area. What was the challenge? Creating an international VET program requires a lot of fundamental work. The students' performance (credits) need to be recognized in the home countries, the learning content needs to be divided among institutions, the validation needs to be unified. Students need to apply for grants, institutions need to enter partnerships. What did the project create? The project BBVET laid the ground work for a future integration of an international VET program into national or regional education plans in the South Baltic area.

Expected Results (EN):

The project will be able to hand in 2 applications establishing two international VET Educations with; joint curriculum in the green and blue sector; recognition of validation on a national level; management by a cross-border team involving students, teachers and companies from five South Baltic countries. BBVET will coordinate the ECVET validation. As a project result we will establish recognition for diplomas in the sectors involved on the cross-border curriculum in each country at the EQF level 5 and 6. BBVET will deliver a “Faculty training program”, manual for teachers and coaches that would like to establish a joint curriculum in other areas. The model solution and the experience could be used by other schools that would like to start working international. A research report with the results and “the state of art” will be published. A Mobility Agencies recommendation will be done in 5 South Baltic countries and a final set up in 3 South Baltic countries, including funding’s.

Expected Outputs (EN):

1) Appoint and train teachers and coaches for Green and Blue 2) Developing and piloting the first entirely ECVET-based international VET programmes in the blue and green sector promoting cross-border mobility 3) Joint training programme supporting employment in the blue and green economy of the South Baltic area. 4) Organisations and people involved in setting up 3 Mobility Agencies (SE, LT, DK) and creating recommendations for 2 countries (DE, PL)".
