Description (DE):

Projektziele: Populationstärkung der vom Aussterben bedrohten Flussperlmuschel im Grenzfluss Maltsch durch Aussetzen von jungen Individuen, Beschreibung der genauen Gründe, warum sich die Art an diesem Standort langfristig nicht vermehrt und Erarbeitung von Grundlagen zur Verbesserung der Wassersqualität und zur Verringerung von Erosion im ganzen grenzüberschreitenden Einzugsgebiets. Die wichtigsten Outputs sind: Aussetzen von gezüchteten Flussperlmuscheln aus mehreren Zuchtzyklen in den Grenzfluss; Beschreibung der Lebensstandort-Mängel dieser Art, die derzeit die Vermehrung der Muschel verhindern; Erstellung von grenzüberschreitenden konzeptionellen Dokumenten zur Verbesserung des gesamten Einzugsgebietes. Nicht zuletzt wird die Schaffung von Zusammenarbeit zwischen Kommunen, Forstverwaltungen, Fischern und Naturschutzgruppen in der Tschechischen Republik und Österreich gefördert, die durch das gemeinsame Interesse an der aussterbenden Art, als Indikator für saubere Flüsse, verbindet. Die Flussperlmuschel wird zugleich als eine Schirmart (nach Definition der IUCN) einer Reihe von anderen seltenen Organismen der klaren Bergbächen und als symbolische Indikator für einen sauberen Fluss hervorgehoben, der auf beiden Seiten der Grenze verwaltet wird. Ergebnisse werden durch drei Arbeitspakete und durch Publizität erreicht. Zu den geplanten Maßnahmen gehören: 1) Direkte Förderung der Flussperlmuschel und deren Wirts (Bachforelle), Anpassung der Lebensstandorte des Wirts. 2) Verfeinerung der Informationen über den Lebensraum, Maßnahmen zur Reduzierung weiterer Schäden des Lebensraums, Identifizierung von Bedrohungen durch Monitoring des Lebensraums. 3) Wirksamerer Schutz der Art durch gezielte Aufklärung der wichtigsten Akteure im Einzugsgebiet. Das Projekt basiert auf Best Practices Maßnahmen, hat zugleich einen innovativen Charakter. Zum ersten Mal in Europa wird für das Bestimmen der Aussetzorte eine Drei-Stufen-Wahl verwendet. 1) Zuerst wird die Stabilität und die Durchlässigkeit des Bodens bewertet. 2) Das jährliche Monitoring des Sauerstoffgehalts und der Wasserreinheit unter dem Flussboden wird mit automatischen Sonden durchgeführt. 3) Überprüfung des Überlebens der Muscheln auf den ausgewählten bestmöglichen Standorten erfolgt durch die Bioindikation (mit Hilfe von kleinen Muscheln in Käfigen). Auf die bestmöglichen Standorte werden gezüchtete Individuen ausgesetzt. Ein weiterer innovativer Ansatz ist die Detailarbeit mit den Beteiligten (Grundbesitzer, Anwohner und lokale Fischer, Förster, Landwirte und Gemeinderäte auf beiden Seiten der Grenze). Nur durch eine wirkliche Beteiligung der lokalen Akteure ist es möglich, die für die Reproduktion der Art notwendige Wasserqualität am Trinkwasserniveau zu erreichen. Durch die Sensibilisierung wird der Schutz dieser Art vor negativen menschlichen Aktivitäten erhöht (z. B. direkte Tötung von Individuen wegen Perlensuche).

Description (CS):

Cílem projektu je posílit populaci kriticky ohrožené perlorodky říční v hraničním toku řeky Malše vysazením mladých jedinců, popsat přesně příčiny, proč se v lokalitě druh dlouhodobě nerozmnožuje a vytvořit podklady pro zlepšení čistoty vody a omezení eroze v celém mezinárodním povodí. Mezi hlavní výstupy bude patřit vysazení odchovaných perlorodek z několika odchovných cyklů do hraničního toku; dále popsání nedostatků v životním prostředí druhu, které nyní brání perlorodkám v rozmnožování, a příprava přeshraničních koncepčních dokumentů pro zlepšení v celém povodí. Nikoliv v poslední řadě bude podpořeno vytvoření spolupráce obcí, lesních správ, rybářů i ochranářů v Čechách i Rakousku propojených zájmem o perlorodku, jakožto mizejícího indikátoru čisté řeky. Perlorodka říční tak bude vyzdvižena současně jako deštníkový druh (dle definice Světového svazu ochrany přírody IUCN) pro množství dalších vzácných organismů z čistých horských řek a zároveň jako symbolický ukazatel čisté řeky, spravované na obou stranách hranice. Výstupů bude dosaženo prostřednictvím 3 implementačních balíčků a publicity. Mezi plánované aktivity patří zejména: 1) Přímá podpora perlorodky a jejího hostitele (pstruha potočního), úprava stanovišť hostitele; 2) Zpřesnění informací o biotopu, opatření pro snížení dalšího poškozování biotopu, identifikace hrozeb pomocí monitoringu biotopu a stanovišť; 3) Zefektivnění ochrany druhu cílenou edukací klíčových činitelů v povodí. Projekt vychází z osvědčených postupů, ale má i inovativní charakter. Bude poprvé v Evropě použit trojstupňový výběr místa vysazení perlorodek. 1) Nejprve bude zhodnocena stabilita a propustnost dna; 2) Roční sledování obsahu kyslíku a čistoty vody pode dnem automatickými sondami; 3) Ověření přežívání perlorodek na nejlepších vybraných místech bioindikací (pomocí malých perlorodek v klíckách). Na takto prověřená nejlepší místa budou odchovaní jedinci vysazeni. Dalším inovativním přístupem je detailní práce se stakeholdery (vlastníci pozemků, místní obyvatelé a zástuci rybářů, lesníků, zemědělců a členů obecních zastupitelstev na obou stranách hranice v celém povodí). Jen se skutečným zapojením místních činitelů je možné docílit čistoty vody odpovídající pitné vodě, nutné pro rozmnožování druhu. Zvýšením povědomi se zvýší ochrana druhu před negativní lidskou činností (např. přímé usmrcení jedinců za účelem nalezení perel).

Description (EN):

Project objectives: Population enhancement of the endangered river pearl mussel in the border-region river Malše through the introduction of young individuals, description of the exact reasons why the species at this site have not been increasing in the long term and elaboration of the basics for the improvement of the water quality and the reduction of erosion in the entire cross-border catchment area. The most important outputs are: Introduction of cultured river pearl mussels from several breeding cycles into the border river; description of the habitat deficiencies of this species that are currently preventing the mussel from multiplying; creation of cross-border conceptual documents to improve the entire catchment area. Last but not least, cooperation between local authorities, forestry administrations, fishermen and nature conservation groups in the Czech Republic and Austria will be promoted, which are linked by their common interest in the endangered species as an indicator of clean rivers. At the same time, the river pearl mussel is highlighted as an ideal patron species (as defined by the IUCN) of a number of other rare organisms of the clear mountain streams and as a symbolic indicator of a clean river, which is well managed on both sides of the border. Results are achieved with three work packages and through publicity. The planned measures include: 1) Direct protection of the river pearl mussel and their host (brown trout), adjustment of the host's habitat. 2) Refining information on the habitat, measures to reduce further damage to the habitat, identification of threats by monitoring the habitat. 3) More effective protection of the species by targeted clarification of the key actors in the catchment area. The project is based on best practices and itself has an innovative character. For the first time in Europe, a three-stage selection is used for determining the introduction locations. 1) First, the stability and permeability of the soil is evaluated. 2) Annual monitoring of the oxygen content and the water purity under the river floor is carried out using automatic probes. 3) The survival of the mussels at the best selected sites is monitored using the bioindicators (using small mussels in cages). Cultivated individuals are introduced in the best possible locations. Another innovative approach is the detailed work with stakeholders (landowners, local residents and fishermen, foresters, farmers and municipal counsels on both sides of the border). It is only through this level of involvement by the local actors that it is possible to achieve the water quality close to drinking water level necessary for the species’ reproduction. Sensitisation increases the protection of this species from negative human activities (e.g. direct killing of individuals due to pearl hunting).

Die wichtigsten Projektergebnisse sind: 1) Management zum Schutz von oligotrophen Einzugsgebieten mit einem Vorkommen der Flussperlmuschel 2) Förderung der Vermehrung und der Häufigkeit der jungen Flussperlmuschel in der Population Der gemeinsame Beitrag zur Erfüllung der Programmindikatoren ist die unmittelbare Förderung der Art und ihres Lebensraums, verbunden mit Synchronisierung der Rechtsinstrumente beider Länder, soweit möglich. Das ermöglicht eine bessere Nutzung der Tools, die helfen, die biologische Vielfalt in der gemeinsamen grenzüberschreitenden Region zu bewahren, und verbessert das gemeinsame Management des zum europäischen Natura2000-Netzwerk gehörenden Gebietes. Weiterhin wird es zur Verbesserung des Wissens über und zur Sensibilisierung der regionalen Bevölkerung über die ökologische Situation der Region beitragen, in der die Flussperlmuschel ein bindendes Glied zwischen den die unterschiedlichen Interessensgruppen sein kann

Expected Outputs (CS):

Mezi hlavní výsledky projektu patří: 1) Koordinace přístupu k řízení ochrany oligotrofních povodí s výskytem perlorodky říční 2) Podpora reprodukce a výskytu mladých perlorodek v populaci. Společným příspěvkem výstupů k naplnění programového ukazatele bude přímá podpora druhu a jeho přirozeného prostředí navázaná na synchronizaci legislativních nástrojů obou zemí. To umožní lepší využití nástrojů pomáhajících uchovat biodiverzitu ve společném přeshraničním regionu a zlepší společnou péči o území, které je součástí soustavy NATURA 2000. Dále přispěje ke zlepšení znalostí a povědomí obyvatel a místních společenství ohledně ekologické stability regionu, kde působí perlorodka říční jako sjednotitel zájmů různorodých zájmových skupin i zájmů místních obyvatel.
