Historical Banat is tourist region of relatively small space with the touristic offer content based on the heterogeneous available natural, cultural and historical tourism resources and attractions. From the point of view of resources, the most important comparative advantage is reflected in specific socio-cultural characteristics, which can be referred to as "Synthesis of Europe", as Banat is the place where different nations, cultures, religions, languages and lifestyles have coexisted in a relatively small area since ancient times. In addition to the cultural - historical heritage which is probably its greatest comparative advantage and rests on offer of local products and promoting of Banat lifestyle (multiculturalism, hospitality and local cuisine), a significant touristic potentials of the historical Banat are preserved as natural resources (a network of rivers, canals, lakes and thermal springs, caves, even mountain in Romania, rich flora and fauna, hunting grounds and protected areas). One of the most important criteria for tourism development in Banat is sustainability. Although Cyclotourism, as a sustainable form of tourism that could contributes to the development of the cross-border region, is a relatively new term in the Banat, and many routes are not used for organized visits of tourists. Through this part of Banat pass two Euro Velo routes of the European Cycling Federation; those are the Euro Velo 6 (Atlantic - Black Sea) and Euro Velo 13 (Iron Curtain Trail) and it is a potential that has not been utilized, primarily due to lack of adequate cycling infrastructure (lack of bicycle tracks, institutional support, marked routes...) Also, if some cyclists set off to this part of Banat, there is no place where they could get information important for a cyclist, and also not a place where they could repair their bike, take a break and get expert advice on the continuation of the journey. Consequently, cyclists often bypass this part of Banat, despite the fact that there are many interesting tourist attractions, especially those related to cultural and historical heritage. Tourism sector in the covered area had difficulties in increasing the touristic demand, due to lack of adequate traffic infrastructure, lack of institutional support and capacity to deliver quality tourism services, lack of tools for attractive tourism products promotion and lack of partnerships between stakeholders. We want to create common image of the covered area, and territorial offer based on synergy between the single touristic attractors, capable to attract a significant flow of demand that will lead to more efficient use of the touristic infrastructures developed within the project and valorisation of tourism potential.

Achievements (EN):

One of the most important criteria for tourism development in Banat is sustainability. Although Cyclotourism is a sustainable form of tourism that could contribute to the development of the cross-border region, it is a relatively new term in the Banat region, and many routes are not used for organized visits for tourists. Through this part of the Banat area, two Euro Velo routes of the European Cycling Federation pass; those are the Euro Velo 6 (Atlantic - Black Sea) and Euro Velo 13 (Iron Curtain Trail) and it is a potential that has not been utilized, primarily due to the lack of adequate cycling infrastructure (lack of bicycle tracks, institutional support, marked routes). One of the main preconditions for development of this kind of tourism is the appropriate infrastructure and institutional support, therefore within this project the first Regional centre for development of cyclotourism in Serbia was established, under the name of “Tour de Banat”, with the headquarters in Srpska Crnja, as well as the tourist stop for cyclists in Jimbolia (Romania). This Regional centre for cyclotourism was developed as a multi-purpose facility, available to all target groups. The project included the development of an interactive web portal, a Facebook page and a mobile application that has been offering all necessary information about new cycling routes (De Tours), as well as all tourist locations and attractions to all cyclists who want to visit this region. One of the preconditions for the valorisation of local tourist potentials is the appropriate infrastructure (traffic signalling), which would enable the cyclists to discover all the beauties and attractions of this region. Results achieved: 1 Regional Centre for Cyclotourism “Tour de Banat” established. 1 Tourist Stop for Cyclist created. 1 Technical documentation for construction of the “Tourists Stop for Cyclists” elaborated. 1 Traffic tourist signalization in the cross-border region implemented. 1 Certificate of Registration of Regional Centre for Cyclotourism “Tour de Banat” created. 4 De Tours Routes (http://db.tourdebanat.com/tdb-routes) promoted. 1 Technical documentation for construction of bicycle paths along the IB-12 State Road between Nova Crnja and Border Crossing Point Srpska Crnja elaborated. 87 Participants of target groups acquired knowledge in the field of quality of tourism services and traffic safety. 1 Web portal created (http://www.tourdebanat.com/). 1 Mobile application and maps created. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gavranche.tourdebanat). 1 Cyclo Fest organized. 1 Cyclo Group established. 1 Platform on the development of cyclotourism created. 1 Facebook page created (https://www.facebook.com/tourdebanat/)

Expected Results (EN): PA4-RI1 Number of tourists arrivals in the eligible area. Flows of visitors in the area for all forms of tourism activities and cross border networks.

Expected Outputs (EN):

1. Created preconditions for improving cycling traffic infrastructure in the cross-border area: Prepared technical documentations will allow the construction of Tourists Stop for Cyclists within the lifetime of the project, and bicycle trail between settlement of Nova Crnja and border with Romania in the coming period. Improvement of transport infrastructure as a precondition for the development of cycle tourism, will increase the number of tourist arrivals in areas covered by the project. 2. Established institutional support for development of cross-border cyclotourism. 3. Established cross-border partnership network for the development and promotion of joint initiatives in the field of cyclotourism. 4. Enhanced capacities of target groups in providing quality tourism services, and traffic safety. 5. Developed new leisure sites and promotional tools and materials.
