Durch die enge Zusammenarbeit der Universität Salzburg (PLUS) und der HAW Landshut soll ein gemeinsames, grenzüberschreitendes Forschungs- /Entwicklungszentrum für den Leichtbau „n2m“ (nano-to-macro) aufgebaut werden. In diesem Zentrum werden durch die wissensbasierte Synthese und Materialcharakterisierung auf der Nano- und Mikroebene neue Prozessierungstechnologien für Leichtbauprodukte mit verbesserten makroskopischen Eigenschaften geschaffen. Eine besondere Bedeutung hat dabei der skalenübergreifende Forschungsansatz: Durch die interdisziplinäre Verknüpfung der naturwissenschaftlichen Grundlagenforschung an der PLUS mit der anwendungsorientierten Forschung und Entwicklung an der HAW Landshut wird ein Bogen von der Entwicklung der Ausgangsmaterialien, über die Untersuchung der relevanten Grenzflächen und Volumeneigenschaften bis zur Prozesstechnik gespannt. Eine solche Kooperation ist im Grenzraum einzigartig und unterstützt den weiteren Ausbau der Spitzenposition der Region im Bereich Leichtbau nachhaltig. Das Projekt trägt zur Erfüllung der EU, nationalen und regionalen Kernziele bei: Steigerung der Ausgaben für Forschung und Entwicklung sowie der Recyclinganteile und Verminderung von CO-2-Emissionen. Die Universität Salzburg bringt Know-how und Infrastruktur in den Bereichen Nano-/Mikroanalyse, sowie Grenzflächenchemie und –physik ein. Die HAW Landshut erweitert dies mit ihren Analyse- und Charakterisierungsmöglichkeiten auf der Mikro- und Makro-Ebene sowie ihrer Erfahrung in Entwicklung, Fertigung und Erprobung von Produkten. Durch die Erweiterung der Labore (hochauflösendes Transmissionselektronenmikroskop, Wärmebehandlungsofen, Heizpresse, Laserschweißanlage) wird das Zentrum soweit ausgestattet, dass Werkstoff- und Produktverbesserungsmöglichkeiten gezielt erkannt und umgesetzt werden können. Die Arbeit im Zentrum wird in der gemeinsamen Bearbeitung von 3 Modulen demonstriert.

Due to the close cooperation of the University of Salzburg (PLUS) and the HAW Landshut, a joint, cross-border research and development center for lightweight construction "n2m" (nano-to-macro) is to be set up. The Center's knowledge-based synthesis and material characterization at the nano- and micro-level will create new processing technologies for lightweight products with improved macroscopic properties. The cross-scale research approach is of particular importance: The interdisciplinary linking of basic scientific research at PLUS with application-oriented research and development at HAW Landshut spans a range from the development of the starting materials through the investigation of the relevant interfaces and volume properties to process engineering. Such cooperation is unique in the border area and sustainably supports the further expansion of the region's leading position in the field of lightweight construction. The project contributes to the fulfillment of the EU, national and regional core objectives: increasing R & D and recycling costs and reducing CO 2 emissions. The University of Salzburg contributes with know-how and infrastructure in the fields of nano / microanalysis as well as interfacial chemistry and physics. HAW Landshut extends this with its analysis and characterization options on the micro and macro level as well as its experience in development, production and testing of products. By expanding the laboratories (high-resolution transmission electron microscope, heat treatment furnace, heating press, laser welding system), the center will be equipped to the extent that material and product improvement options can be specifically identified and implemented.

Synthese, Charakterisierung und technologische Fertigungsansätze für den Leichtbau “n2m”: „Nano-to-macro geht weiter: Spannende neue Projekte und Kooperationen tragen zur Verbreiterung des Zentrums im Bereich der Wissenschaft und Öffentlichkeit bei“ (N. Hüsing, Projektleiterin Gesamtprojekt n2m). Im Rahmen des INTERREG Projektes Synthese, Charakterisierung und technologische Fertigungsansätze für den Leichtbau „n2m“ (nano-to-macro) ist es den Projektpartnern der Paris-Lodron-Universität Salzburg (PLUS) und der Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW) Landshut gelungen ein gemeinsames, grenzüberschreitendes Forschungs- und Entwicklungszentrum für den Leichtbau aufzubauen und naturwissenschaftliche Grundlagenforschung an der PLUS mit der anwendungsorientierten Forschung und Entwicklung am Kompetenzzentrum Leichtbau der Hochschule Landshut (LLK) im Themenbereich des Leichtbaus zu verknüpfen. Die Realisierung innovativer Leichtbaustrukturen erfordert einen skalenübergreifenden Ansatz von der Materialentwicklung mit der Untersuchung relevanter Grenzflächen und Volumeneigenschaften zur Charakterisierung und Simulation von Werkstoff- und Struktureigenschaften sowie der Entwicklung geeigneter Produktions- und Prozesstechniken. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, bestand die besondere Herausforderung des Projektes in der Verknüpfung interdisziplinärer Denk- und Forschungsansätze auf den Gebieten Materialchemie, Fertigungstechnik, Mechanik, Werkstofftechnik und -analytik. Anhand der gemeinsamen wissensbasierten Bearbeitung konkreter Problemstellungen in 3 Schwerpunktmodulen „Hybride Strukturen mittels T-RTM Verfahren (TeTIHS)“, „Laserbasiert gefügte Leichtmetallstrukturen (LasLei)“ und „Gekerbte und umgeformte Magnesiumfeinblechstrukturen (MagForm)“ konnte eine solche Verknüpfung erfolgreich realisiert werden. Mit der Beschaffung eines Transmissionselektronenmikroskops an der PLUS, einer Laserschweißanlage, einer Heizpresse, einem Vibrationspoliergerät und einem Wärmebehandlungsofen am LLK Landshut wurden im Rahmen des Projektes die Forschungsmöglichkeiten der beiden Einrichtungen signifikant erweitert. Durch die Schaffung eines gemeinsamen Zentrums, wird den dort zusammengeführten Partnern ein grenzüberschreitender Zugang zu den jeweiligen Einrichtungen ermöglicht. Damit werden die Forschung und Zusammenarbeit in der Region auch nach Abschluss des Projekts sichergestellt. Die Spitzenforschung und langfristige Kooperationen werden durch diese Aktivitäten nachhaltig unterstützt und vertieft. Die Einrichtung des Zentrums hat bereits die Einbindung weiterer neuer Partner in der Region und über die Region hinaus ermöglicht (TU Bergakademie Freiberg, FH Kuchl, PLUS – Center for Human Computer Interaction, Universität Magdeburg, Universität Erlangen, LKR Ranshofen, TU München). Im Rahmen des Projekts wurden Artikel in internationalen peer-reviewed Fachzeitschriften zu n2m-Themen publiziert. Synthesis, characterisation and technological manufacturing approaches for lightweight construction “n2m”: “Nano-to-macro continues: Exciting new projects and cooperations contribute to the broadening of the centre in the field of science and the public” (N. As part of the INTERREG project Synthesis, characterisation and technological manufacturing approaches for lightweight construction “n2m” (nano-to-macro), the project partners of the Paris-Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS) and the University of Applied Sciences (HAW) Landshut succeeded in establishing a joint, cross-border research and development centre for lightweight construction and linking basic scientific research at PLUS with application-oriented research and development at the Competence Center for Lightweight Construction at the University of Applied Sciences Landshut (LLK). The realisation of innovative lightweight structures requires a cross-scale approach from material development with the study of relevant interfaces and volume properties for the characterisation and simulation of material and structural properties as well as the development of suitable production and process techniques. In order to achieve this goal, the particular challenge of the project was to combine interdisciplinary thinking and research approaches in the fields of material chemistry, manufacturing technology, mechanics, materials engineering and analysis. Based on the joint knowledge-based processing of concrete problems in 3 main modules “Hybrid Structures Using T-RTM Methods (TeTIHS)”, “Laser-Based Light Metal Structures (LasLei)” and “Notified and Formed Magnesium Fine Sheet Structures (MagForm)”, such a link was successfully realised. With the acquisition of a transmission electron microscope at the PLUS, a laser welding system, a heating press, a vibration polisher and a heat treatment furnace at the LLK Landshut, the research possibilities of the two facilities were significantly expanded as part of the project. The creation of a common centre will enable the partners brought together there to have cross-border access to the respective institutions. This ensures research and cooperation in the region even after the completion of the project. These activities support and deepen cutting-edge research and long-term cooperation. The establishment of the Centre has already enabled the involvement of other new partners in the region and beyond (TU Bergakademie Freiberg, FH Kuchl, PLUS — Center for Human Computer Interaction, University of Magdeburg, University of Erlangen, LKR Ranshofen, TU Munich). As part of the project, articles were published in international peer-reviewed journals on n2m topics. Expected Outputs (DE): Verbesserte F&E Kapazitäten ziehen einen erhöhten Personalstand in der Forschung und im außeruniversitären Bereich nach sich. Für das Förderende 2018 wird mit 8 wissenschaftlichen MitarbeiterInnen und 4 zusätzlichen Kooperationspartnern gerechnet.
