Description (EN): The project will provide sustainable and resource-efficient restoration of degraded territories, owned by municipalities. It will create several economic, social and environmental benefits for the local communities. Establishing cross border cooperation will ensure more efficient resource usage and applying best practices.
The project will carry out regeneration of brownfields in the territories of six partners, provide innovative and professional brownfield planning, and promote the qualitative development of brownfields in the future. Within project following activities will be carried out: 2 degraded building scheduled for the disassembly is not suitable for living in Saldus and Ventspils county municipalities, regeneration of a ditch and pond polluted with oil products in Kuldiga, regeneration of urban area (former Soviet military base) in Skrunda with an area of 11,34 ha, cleaning and to reconstruction ofa stadium in Kauna with an area of 1,04 ha and regeneration of "Military town" in Telsiai with an area of 3 ha. Klaipeda district municipality will prepare water pond recreational project. Specialists from all partners will increase their professional knowledge by participating in training and experience exchange trips.
As a result of the project, 16,32 ha in the partners territories will have a clean environment in Kurzeme, Kaunas, Klaipeda and Telsiai.

Projektas sudarys galimybę regeneruoti apleistas teritorijas šešių partnerių savivaldybėse, organizuoti inovatyvų ir profesionalų apleistų teritorijų planavimą, kokybiškai vystyti apleistas teritorijas ateityje. Projekto metu numatomos šios veiklos: 2 sunykusių pastatų, netinkamų gyventi, išardymas Saldaus ir Ventspilio rajono savivaldybėse, naftos produktais užteršto tvenkinio ir griovio išvalymas Kuldigoje, urbanistinės 11,34 ha ploto teritorijos (buvusios sovietinės karinės bazės) regeneravimas Skrundoje, 1,04 ha ploto stadiono išvalymas ir rekonstrukcija Kaune ir 3 ha ploto „Karinio miestelio“ regenaravimas Telšiuose. Klaipėdos rajono savivaldybė parengs vandens telkinio rekreacijos projektą. Visų partnerių specialistai pagilins savo profesines žinias, dalyvaudami mokymo ir pasikeitimo patirtimi vizituose.
Projekto rezultatas – švari aplinka projekto partnerių Kurzemės, Kauno, Klaipėdos ir Telšių 16,32 ha ploto teritorijose.
As a result of the project, 16,32 ha in the partners' territories will have a clean environment in Kurzeme, Kaunas, Klaipeda and Telsiai.
Read more Description (LV): Projekts nodrošinās ilgtspējīgu un resursu ziņā efektīvu pašvaldībām piederošo degradēto teritoriju atjaunošanu. Tas radīs vietējām kopienām virkni ekonomiskos, sociālos un vides labumus. Pārrobežu sadarbības tīkla izveide nodrošinās efektīvāku resursu izmantošanu un labās prakses izmantošanu.
Projektā tiks veikta degradēto teritoriju atjaunošana sešu partneru teritorijās, nodrošināta inovatīva un profesionāla degradēto teritoriju plānošana un veicināta degradēto teritoriju kvalitatīva attīstība nākotnē. Projektā tiks veiktas šādas aktivitātes: demontētas 2 ēkas, kas nav piemērota dzīvošanai Saldus un Ventspils novada pašvaldībās, notiks ar nafta produktiem piesārņotu grāvju un dīķu tīrīšana Kuldigā, attīrīs teritoriju (bijusī padomju militārā bāze) Skrundā 11,34 ha platībā, veiks Kauņas stadiona attīrīšanu un rekonstrukciju 1,04 ha platībā un "Militārās pilsētas" atjaunošanu Telšos ar 3 ha platībā. Klaipēdas rajona pašvaldība sagatavos ūdens dīķu teritorijas attīrīšanas tehnisko projektu. Visu partneru speciālisti palielinās savas profesionālās zināšanas, piedaloties apmācībās un pieredzes apmaiņas braucienos.
Read more Achievements (EN): During the project specialists from 23 municipalities in Kurzeme and Kaunas region raised their professional competence in brownfield management, cleaning and development planning. Altogether 268 specialists participated in 5 seminars, 3 thematic workshops, 3 round-table discussions and two study visits.
Experts from universities of both countries – University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, University of Agriculture of Latvia, Kaunas University of Technology were invited to share newest approaches and solutions for degraded territories. Project partners and representatives of other municipalities were encouraged to work at incorporation of degraded territories theme in the local and regional planning documentation to proceed with further projects in this direction.

Putting degraded territories in order brings several important benefits:
clean and safe environment,
territories returned to public and business life,
economic use of the existing resources (land, buildings, technical networks, roads).
Klaipeda District Municipality prepared technical documentation (geological survey) for 150 ha territory in Gargždai that will be used to develop former gravel quarry area for tourism and sports activities in future.
Territories in 6 municipalities were cleaned for public use benefiting local businesses and at least 21 000 local residents who have received clean and safe environment with a perspective to be developed in territories for public and business activities.
Cleaned sites in Telšiai and Skrunda are prepared for local businesses, at least 50 companies can start long term planning of their activities there in future. One of the potential business use examples is warehousing and logistics.

Kuldīga County Municipality – a ditch and a pond in the former municipal gardening cleaned of black oil, 212 m2 area prepared for public activities to be developed in future, address: Siltumnīcu Str. 12, Kuldīga, Kuldīga County, Latvia;
Skrunda County Municipality – a former military territory cleaned, 11,34 ha area prepared for business activities in future, address: Kalna Str. 17, Skrunda, Skrunda County, Latvia;
Ventspils County Municipality – a five story derelict, polluted building demolished, territory cleaned, 5223 m2 area for public use developed, address: Rūpnīcas Str. 7, Ugāle, Ventspils County, Latvia;
Kaunas City Municipal Administration – a former military territory cleaned (10 400 m2), a football stadium for public use built instead, address: Kareiviniu Str. 13, Panemune, Kaunas, Lithuania;
Telšiai District Municipality – a former military oil polluted territory cleaned from oil products, 3,0 ha area prepared for business activities in future, address: former military barracks, Telsiai, Telsiai district, Lithuania;
Saldus County Municipality – a two story derelict, polluted building demolished territory cleaned, 450 m2 area for public use developed, address: “Ceļinieki”, Rubas, Saldus County, Latvia.

Expected Results (EN): Number of households not facing pollution, grime and other municipal environmental problems
Expected Outputs (EN): Expected changes based on the result of the project, what are in direct accordance with the performance indicators:
- pollution free and attractive environment for households and business is ensured;
- polluted places are liquidated;
- degraded and polluted objects are destroyed;
- documentation about regeneration of degraded and polluted objects are worked out;
- samples for development of degraded territories are create and popularized;
- cooperation between all interested parties is ensured;
- experience and knowledge are gained;
- the sustainable and innovative development of degraded territories is provided.
