The project “QNeST - Quality Network on Sustainable Tourism” aims to valorise the common and quality features of the cultural, traditional and environmental heritage of the Adriatic-Ionian area. Through the realization of a transnational model of participative interaction between private and public stakeholders such as local and traditional operators, tour ism service providers, craftsmen, sectorial experts, local communities, institutions and cultural, social and environmental associations, the project will contribute to: improve and spread a common awareness on quality and sustainable tourism among different types of actors in Adriatic Ionian area; manage the local seasonality demand of tourism through the design and implementation of joint de-seasonal solutions; valorise the less well-known destinations through the fruition of new and updated routes between coastal areas and hinterland; facilitate the start-up and enhancement of tourist services through the promotion of joint marketing activities and the exchange of good practices at local and transnational levels.
In order to reach its objectives, QNeST project foresees the launch of an Adriatic-Ionian vision and strategy for the development of new quality tourist solutions, based on co-design processes between key-stakeholders at local and joint levels and on the capitalization of existing good practices related to the most interesting features of a sustainable tourism.
Paying attention on the abilities to preserve and promote the cultural heritage mainly linked to traditional crafts, to carry out environmental sustainable initiatives, to promote and enhance food traditions on Mediterranean Diet and to strengthen the development of accessible services, QNeST project will launch a common brand, representative of quality standards for a sustainable tourism, and will stimulate the creation and the promotion of a quality network of Adriatic Ionian actors and economic operators, active or indirectly linked with the tourism sector. Finally, QNeST will ensure the implementation of the common strategy through the launch of demonstrative and innovative initiatives able to: promote the quality network and the common brand; stimulate the exchange of information among the network members also through a collaborative ICT platform; improve the fruition, at local and transnational levels, of new routes and best practices, evocative of a common awareness for the development of a qualitative and sustainable tourism.

Expected Results (EN): Level of capacity for the stakeholders in the fields of natural and cultural heritage protection and tourism to sustainably valorise natural and cultural heritage as a growth asset

Expected Outputs (EN):

One of the main results is the launch of an Adriatic-Ionian network with a quality brand, based on common features of best practices related to sustainable tourism (WPT2). A model of recognition of qualitative initiatives, adopted measures and capacities of economic operators will contribute to: valorize and preserve the cultural heritage related to the traditional know-how of crafts; promote and improve a safe environment and a sustainable fruition of territories; offer high quality and traditional food typical of Mediterranean Diet; offer services for niches of tourists such as disadvantages and elders people. This will enable to satisfy new niches of tourist demand. During the project at least 160 operators (20 from each territory) are foreseen as brand receivers and able to be included in the quality network. Considering WPT2, a result is represented by a better awareness on qualitative aspects of tourism, shared to project teams and to economic operators in the field of tourism (at least 240, 30 each partner in trainings)and institutional representatives and local stakeholders (min. 20x8 partners). The common awareness will be also promoted for general public and will strengthen the activities to build an Adrion model of: best practice exchange; co-design tourist actions; sustainable tourism fruition (WPT1 and WPT3). At this purpose, as result of 8 local and 1 transnational participative workshops, an improved capacity of public and private stakeholders will be reached in order to jointly plan a new transnational srategy and action plans (8 plan per each territory, 1 transnational level as by WPT1) and to launch quality pilot initiatives (36; for an increase of at least 680 new visitors, as by WPT3). Finally, the project partnership and its quality network will contribute to a better fruition of cultural and natural assets, enabling also an increase of around 8680 expected visitors interested in sustainable tourist solutions.
