Description (EN):

Fruit tree nursery industry and fruit production industry on both sides of border are facing great challenges due to modernization and market fluctuations. Lack of professional skills and added value products are main reasons why local tree nurseries cannot fulfil demands of fast growing fruit production industry. Innovative approach to this problem would be to develop and/or introduce new products – new types of fruit trees, based on local natural resources and state of the art production technologies. These new products would raise competitiveness and overall production of project area tree nursery industry but also give a chance to local fruit production industry to raise efficiency and profitability. Proper evaluation and presentation of new types of fruit trees would be secured by establishing demonstrative orchards and vineyards from these new types of nursery plants at existing experimental fields of PPs. Usage and preservation of local cultivars that often have potential for pesticides free and pesticides reduced production is also important for future research work. The project aims to establish an effective system for knowledge transfer and exchange of good practices between partners, but also knowledge transfer from partners to local nurseries and fruitgrowers thru workshops, trainings, open days and publications. Main target groups are SMEs (fruit tree nurseries, fruit growers), higher education and research (researchers and scholars), other enterprenuers, public bodies. Cross border approaches is necessary in order to exchange existing knowledge and perform joint actions that can result in closer links between stakeholders from both borders sides. This kind of cross border cooperation can reduce primarily economic barriers.

Expected Results (EN): Range of custer activities enhancing innovation, new technologies and ICT solutions.

Expected Outputs (EN):

1. Acquired know-how in nursery production and local products development as an important step for production of high quality nursery trees and high quality fruits. 2. Upgraded quality of fruit tree nursery products in both cross border regions through process of guided product standardization and introduction of new products and technologies that will help their penetration on demanding domestic and international market and help stakeholders to take rightful place according to the quality of their products. 3. Created cross border and trans linkages between business, academic and public sector aimed at increased competitiveness and efficiency with attempt to form the basis capable of instant responses to the market changes and treats.
