Description (EN):

Programme area is lagging behind EU in terms of economic performance. Common challenges that are tackled in the project include SME support services which do not respond to SMEs’ needs, and do not offer adequate assistance to innovative entrepreneurs, particularly those in the pre-incubation stage and start-ups. SMEs in cross border area lack clustering possibilities and the access to the regional and international markets. Small number and low level of competitiveness of local IT companies is a result of lack of cooperation between them as well as non-compliance of labour market and their needs. Project aims to contribute to enhancement of business infrastructure and services to support innovations and cluster activities and improve start-up environment in cross-border area. Business support institutions will be supported to increase their impact on business environment through increasing quality of their service, and creating supportive ambient within coworking spaces for enhancing start-up ecosystem. Project intends to enable local business support institutions to build their collaboration and to create mentorship/coaching programme which will help start-ups to develop their projects. New service will cover all stages of life cycle related to business incubation and will be replicable in wider area. Collaborations between private and public sector and R&D stakeholders will be enabled through cluster activities. ICT companies will be provided with new skills through specialised trainings. Further development will be enabled by creating feasibility study which will define preconditions for additional upgrading of cluster activities. New business relationships and promotion of cross-border economic development give to the project cross-border added value and open further possibilities for joint drafting, implementation and financing of cross-border initiatives.

Expected Results (EN): Range of cluster activities enhancing innovation, new technologies and ICT solutions

Expected Outputs (EN):

Following results are predicted: - 4 coworking spaces established, networked and managed by managers trained to facilitate joint activities and collaboration of coworkers. - 20 events for promotion of start-ups organized. - Staff of 10 local business support institutions trained to provide upgraded services. - Established mentorship network in cross border area with 50 included mentors. - 3 initiatives (IT Business Support Networks) launched for development of ICT clusters (in Zadar, Nikšić and Tuzla). - Strategy for development of ICT cluster in Mostar developed. - Improved skills and capacities of IT sector in cities involved through 4 trainings. - Feasibility study on establishing ICT competence centres developed. Such different project results will directly contribute to programme result indicator - Range of cluster activities enhancing innovation, new technologies and ICT soulutions.
