Το προτεινόμενο έργο στοχεύει στην αύξηση της επισκεψιμότητας στα τρία Γεωπάρκα (Κύπρου – Τροόδος Κρήτης – Σητεία – Ψηλορείτης) με προέκταση των γήινων πλεονεκτημάτων (Geo) προς τον ουρανό και τα άστρα (Stars) αξιοποιώντας άλλο ένα πλεονέκτημα, αυτό των καθαρών και ξάστερων ουρανών. Το έργο GEOSTARS αποσκοπεί να κεφαλαιοποιήσει την περιβαλλοντική αξία ως θέμα δασικής αναψυχής και να την ενισχύσει μέσω της σύζευξης με την αστροπαρατήρηση. Ειδικός στόχος είναι η δημιουργία μιας μορφής εναλλακτικού τουρισμού που ως προέκταση της φυσικής αξίας των χώρων, αξιοποιεί συγκριτικά πλεονεκτήματα κλιματολογικών στοιχείων και επιδιώκει την συνύπαρξη των επιστημών γεωλογίας και αστροφυσικής. Ο αστροτουρισμός επικεντρώνεται στην παρακολούθηση και μελέτη του διαστήματος, του ήλιου και των άστρων (stars) και επιδιώκεται έτσι η ενίσχυση της ενιαίας ταυτότητας προορισμού για τις ορεινές περιοχές των νησιών. Μέσω της συνεργασίας, στοχεύεται παγκόσμια καινοτομία κοινής ανάπτυξης αστροτουρισμού στα Γεωπάρκα Αν. Μεσογείου ώστε να καταστούν διεθνώς γνωστά. Κοινά πλεονεκτήματα αποτελούν (α) οι ευνοϊκές καιρικές συνθήκες, (β) η προνομιακή γεωγραφική τους θέση και η απουσία αντίστοιχων δομών στην περιοχή, (γ) η έλλειψη σημείων παρατήρησης του ήλιου παγκοσμίως. Επιδίωξη αποτελεί η προσέλκυση τουριστών από μη παραδοσιακές αγορές. Αναμένεται στο Τροόδος να κατασκευαστεί εκπαιδευτικό αστεροσκοπείο και στη Σητεία πλανητάριο-αστεροσχολείο, απευθυνόμενα σε ερασιτέχνες αστροπαρατηρητές, μαθητές και λοιπούς επισκέπτες, ενώ το αστεροσκοπείο Σκίνακα διατηρεί την επιστημονική του διάσταση και την εμπλουτίζει με υποδομές και εργαλεία επισκεψιμότητας. Συμπληρωματικά προς τις υποδομές αστροπαρατήρησης το έργο ολοκληρώνεται με δράσεις δασικής αναψυχής και τη δημιουργία καινοτόμων εργαλείων πληροφόρησης και επιμόρφωσης σε θέματα διαστήματος και του σύμπαντος.

Description (EN):

The proposed project aims to increase the visits to the three Geoparks (Cyprus - Troodos of Crete - Sitia - Psiloritis) with an extension of the Earth's advantages to the sky and Stars, taking advantage the pure and clear skies. The GEOSTARS project aims to capitalize environmental value as a theme of forest recreation and to enhance it by coupling with astronomy. A special aim is to create a form of alternative tourism that, as an extension of the natural value of the sites, exploits comparative advantages of climatic data and seeks the coexistence of the geology and astrophysics sciences. Astrotourism focuses on the observation and study of space, sun and stars and seeks to reinforce the single destination identity for the mountainous regions of the islands. Through collaboration, a global innovation is proposed for the joint development of astro-tourism in the Geopark of the Mediterranean to become internationally known. Common advantages are (a) favorable weather conditions, (b) their privileged geographical location and the absence of corresponding structures in the region, (c) the lack of sun observation points worldwide. The aim is to attract tourists from non-traditional markets. It is expected that in Troodos an observatory will be constructed and in Sitia, a planetarium-stargate, aimed at amateur astronomers, students and other visitors, while the Skinakas Observatory preserves its scientific dimension and enriches it with infrastructure and traffic tools. In addition to astronomical observation infrastructure, the project is complemented by forest recreational activities and the creation of innovative information and training tools on space and the universe.

Expected Results (EL):

Το έργο θα έχει ως αποτέλεσμα τη δημιουργία αυτόνομων υποδομών οι οποίες θα προάγουν και θα ενισχύουν τη δημιουργία εναλλακτικής μορφής τουριστικού προϊόντος που θα απευθύνεται στο ευρύτερο κοινό αλλά και ειδικότερα στον επισκέπτη με ενδιαφέροντα το διάστημα και την αστροπαρατήρηση. Επίσης σημαντική η δημιουργία ενός δικτύου Κέντρων ενημέρωσης, επιμόρφωσης και πληροφόρησης για την αστροπαρατήρηση και το διάστημα ενταγμένο στο Δίκτυο των Γεωπάρκων της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου. Επιπρόσθετα, τα εργαλεία υποστήριξης αυτής της μορφής εναλλακτικού τουρισμού είναι κοινά και αποτελούν το διασυνοριακό χαρακτήρα του έργου που αποσκοπεί στην προβολή από κοινού σε διεθνές επίπεδο του αντίστοιχου προϊόντος στην κάθε περιοχή παρέμβασης. Το συνολικό αποτέλεσμα του έργου εδράζεται στο δίκτυο που θα ενισχυθεί, επιδιώκοντας την ικανοποίηση συγκεκριμένων βασικών στόχων που ταυτίζονται πλήρως με τους στόχους του προγράμματος.

Expected Results (EN):

The project will lead to the creation of autonomous infrastructures that will promote and enhance the creation of an alternative tourism product which will focus on public and especially the visitor with interest in space and astronomy. Also important is the development of an Information and Training Network for the astrological observation and the space included in the Eastern Mediterranean Geopark Network. In addition, tools to support this form of alternative tourism are common and are the cross-border nature of the project, which aims to promote the corresponding product at international level in each area of intervention. The overall outcome of the project is based on the network that will be strengthened, seeking to meet specific key objectives that are fully aligned with the objectives of the program.

Οι αναμενόμενες εκροές του έργου είναι: - υποδομές (κτιριακές) αστροπαρατήρησης στο Τροόδος (Κέντρο Αστροπαρατήρησης Αγριδιών), στο Πλανητάριο Σητείας και στο Αστεροσκοπείο Σκίνακα (αναβάθμιση προς βελτίωση της επισκεψιμότητας). - υποδομές (υπαίθριες) αστροπαρατήρησης αξιοποιώντας στοιχεία φυσικού πλούτου αλλά και καθαρών ουρανών. - αναβάθμιση δομών και σημείων πληροφόρησης εντός των Γεωπάρκων. - εξοπλισμοί αστροπαρατήρησης και ειδικότερα τηλεσκόπιο, ηλιοσκόπιο (Τροόδος), θόλος (Σκίνακας).. - Εξοπλισμός πληροφόρησης και εκπαίδευσης για το διάστημα που περιλαμβάνει πλανητάριο στη Σητεία και κινητό πλανητάριο στην Κύπρο - Κοινό σύστημα εξ’ αποστάσεως παρακολούθησης μέσω διαδικτυακής πλατφόρμας. - έντυπα και ψηφιακά εργαλεία πληροφόρησης και εκπαίδευσης απευθυνόμενα σε διαφορετικές ομάδες στόχους.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The expected outputs of the project are: - Astronomical observation infrastructure at Troodos (Wildlife Observatory), Sitia Planetarium and Skinakas Observatory (upgrade to improve visitation). - Infrastructure (outdoor)of astrological observation using elements of natural wealth and clean skies. - Upgrading of structures and information points within Geoparks. - astronomical observation equipment, in particular a telescope, a sunscreen (Troodos), a dome (Skinakas). - Information and space education equipment including a planetarium in Sitia and a mobile planetarium in Cyprus. - A common remote system for tracking via an online platform. - printed and digital information and training tools addressed to different target groups.
