Description (EN):

Our SMF project supports the preparation of a complex strategic transnational project that will contribute to the EUSDR PA3 (To promote culture, tourism and people to people contacts). Specific topic “3” within PA3, “Promotion of SPA and wellness tourism in the Region”, as described in the SMF Programme Manual, is in the main focus of our initiation. Action as “to promote wellness tourism in the Region” is included in the Actions plan of EUSDR together with the “to promote short-stay weekend tourism and recreation, as well as longer stays” and with “to support the improvement of the quality of tourism products” actions under tourism and action “to build on cultural diversity as strength of the Danube Region” under cultural heritage. Our SMF project is in line with all above actions and also with PA3 Targets 3 (Develop new and support existing Cultural Routes relevant in the DR), 4 (Develop green tourist products along the DR) and 6 (Ensure the sustainable preservation of cultural heritage and natural values by developing relevant clusters, and networks of museums, interpretation and visitors centres within the DR) by supporting the: needs assessment of various target groups of short-stay weekend tourism and recreation; exploration of development potentials in spas and wellness centres; evaluation of cultural heritage related potential complementary services that could supplement the regular spa and wellness offer; fostering the exchange of good practices; networking of key players; initial training of stakeholders; looking for green tourism product solutions; evaluating existing cultural routes and their potential synergies with our concept; creation of financially sustainable management solutions for clusters and networks of museums that are in charge for the preservation of cultural heritages.
