Description (EN):

The aim of the project is to develop a sustainable water resources management policy for the transboundary Palic-Ludas catchment relying on a hydro-ecologically sound monitoring system, in accordance with the Water Framework Directive of the EU and t he requirements of the Natura2000/Ramsar objectives. The evolution of this monitoring system would enable future decision makers to gain a more thorough understanding of the considered catchment, therefore allowing a more competent management of the catchment. The proposed monitoring system will try to transfer the good practice concerning the existing monitoring system on Lake Kolon in Hungary. In order to propose the appropriate water resources management policy for the transboundary Palic-Lud as catchment two sets of multidisciplinary field measurement campaigns will be conducted for both the Palic-Ludas catchment and Lake Kolon. Additionally, since the Palic-Ludas catchment is located both in Hungary and Serbia, the project will asses th e function of the regional drainage canal system as an ecological corridor.
