Novi Becej and Sándorfalva are of similar economic development, their residents’ living conditions are also similar, and both settlements’ development was directly affected by the closeness of the environmental protection areas. The settlements put g reat emphasis on the development of tourism, especially eco-tourism. Their relationship also began within the framework of a tourism event in 2013 when the municipal delegations recognized their similar problems and looked for common development and cooperation opportunities. As a continuation of its previous cross-border project, Novi Becej aims at the infrastructural development of the natural protection area (newly built road to the area, bus turn around, parking place, natural trail). On the other hand, in order to develop tourism, Novi Becej intends to elaborate an eco-tourism strategy related to the two areas. To promote local product sales, a standardization process with relevant training would be started and a monitoring body would be established. Local cultural values and the values of Slano kopovo would be presented on 5 cultural events, furthermore, the settlements would jointly appear at tourism fairs and perform marketing communication tasks. The local government of Sánd orfalva intends to carry out the rehabilitation of the ex lege natural protection area of Lake Nádas, by letting a part of the reedy area grazed by buffalos provided by the Kiskunság National Park, thus creating an open water surface where a varied w ater habitat is formed, suitable for bird watching and for a special interactive presentation (observation tower, plank line, bird observer). The town and Lake Nádas would be connected by a natural trail with interactive elements. Local products woul d get a common visual identity (brand) and programmes would be organized at several events to promote local natural and cultural values. A study shall be prepared on the diversification of wildlife at Lake Nádas.
