El proyecto LINDUS-2 responde a la necesidad de preservar la biodiversidad, transmitir el conocimiento medioambiental y fomentar la participación de la ciudadanía, y diseñar ofertas de ecoturismo. Se permite de esta manera valorizar el territorio de modo sostenible, y generar economía y empleo local. El objetivo principal de la operación es desarrollar un Programa Integral Transfronterizo (PIT) para la biodiversidad, la educación ambiental y el ecoturismo en la frontera pirenaica Pyr. Atlantiques-Navarra-Huesca. El PIT depende del estudio de las migraciones, del programa de voluntariado, y formación ambiental, y de la estrategia conjunta de ecoturismo que se va desarrollar. Estos resultados, además del PIT, benefician a la comunidad científica, los expertos en medioambiente, la ciudadanía y escolares, y los agentes territoriales como ayuntamientos y sector turístico local. La cooperación entre Francia y España permite mejorar la calidad de los trabajos y resultados gracias a la complementariedad entre equipos de ambos países. También, el flujo de voluntarios y visitantes en la frontera debe ser coordinado y beneficiar a todos los actores de la frontera. LINDUS-2 es la continuidad del LINDUS 121/09. No obstante presenta nuevas acciones y resultados: un nuevo socio y territorio (SEO Birdlife Aragón); ampliación del estudio de migración a los murciélagos; un mayor programa de formación y educación ambiental; y la estrategia conjunta de ecoturismo (nuevo resultado).

Description (EN):

LINDUS-2 project responds to the need to preserve biodiversity, spread environmental knowledge and encourage the participation of citizens, as well as designing a new ecotourism offer. It therefore enhances the territory value in a sustainable way, and generate local employment and economy. The main objective of the project is to develop a Cross-border Integrated Program (CIP) for biodiversity, environmental education and ecotourism in the west Pyrenean border. The CIP depends on the study of migrations, volunteerism, and environmental training program, as well as the joint strategy for ecotourism. These results, in addition to the CIP, benefit the scientific community, environmental experts, local population and school sector, as well as territorial and local tourism stakeholders. Cooperation between France and Spain allows to improve the quality of the work and results thanks to complementarity between teams from both countries. Also, the flow of volunteers and visitors at the border must be co-ordinated and benefit all stakeholders in the border. LINDUS-2 is the continuation of the LINDUS 121/09. Nevertheless, it presents new actions and results: a new partner and territory (SEO Birdlife in Aragon); a broader migration study including bats; a major programme of training and environmental education; and the development of a joint strategy of ecotourism (new result).

Le projet LINDUS-2 répond au besoin de préserver la biodiversité, transmettre les connaissances environnementales et promouvoir la participation citoyenne, mais aussi de concevoir des offres d'écotourisme. Il permet ainsi de valoriser le territoire, et de stimuler l'économie et les emplois locaux. L'objectif principal de l'opération est de développer un Programme Intégral Transfrontalier (PIT) pour la biodiversité, l'éducation environnementale et l'écotourisme à la frontière pyrénéenne Pyr.Atlantiques-Navarre-Huesca. Le PIT dépend de l'étude des migrations, du programme de volontariat et de formation environnementale, et de la stratégie conjointe d'écotourisme. Ces résultats, en plus du PIT, bénéficient à la communauté scientifique, aux experts environnementaux, aux citoyens et étudiants, et aux agents territoriaux (mairies et secteur touristique local). La coopération entre la France et l'Espagne permet d'améliorer la qualité des travaux et des résultats grâce à la complémentarité entre les équipes des deux pays. Le flux de volontaires et visiteurs à la frontière doit aussi être coordonné de façon transfrontalière. LINDUS-2 est la suite du projet LINDUS 121/09. Il présente, néanmoins, de nouvelles actions et de nouveaux résultats : un nouveau partenaire et territoire (SEO Birdlife Aragon); l’élargissement de l'étude de migration aux chiroptères; un programme amplifié de formation et éducation environnementale ; et la stratégie conjointe d'écotourisme (nouveau résultat).

Achievements (ES):

Detectados cambios en el comportamiento migratorio de las aves: Cerca de 2.000.000 de aves migratorias han sido monitorizadas a través del proyecto de cooperación transfronteriza Lindus 2. Durante los años 2016, 17 y 18, cerca de 2 millones de aves migratorias han sido monitorizadas a través del proyecto en el collado de Organbidexka (Nueva Aquitania), los montes Lindus y Trona (Navarra-Baxe Nafarroa) y los puertos de Somport y Portalet (Huesca). Tal y como refleja este y otros estudios, el comportamiento de las aves está variando en respuesta a los cambios en el clima y en los hábitats de reproducción e invernada. Así, una especie como el aguilucho lagunero (Circus aeruginosus) ha adelantado una media de 10 días su paso migratorio. Las cigüeñas y otras especies tradicionalmente transaharianas han comenzado a invernar en la Península ibérica en lugar de volar hasta África. Otras, como el porrón común (Aythya ferina) o el silbón europeo (Anas penelope), ya no cruzan anualmente el Pirineo, sino que pasan sus inviernos más al norte. En la zona de los Pirineos atlánticos, se ha constatado que el aumento del viento sur ha desplazado los corredores de migración de las palomas hacia el oeste, de forma que ha descendido el paso en Organbidexka, mientras que ha aumentado en Lindus y otros collados más occidentales. Sensibilización, educación ambiental y ecoturismo: Además de la observación de aves, el proyecto Lindus 2 ha desarrollado entre 2016 y 2018 una labor de estudio de monitorización de quirópteros (murciélagos), sensibilización y educación ambiental, voluntariado e impulso del ecoturismo. En el campo de la sensibilización y formación se han realizado talleres escolares, se ha explicado la observación sobre el terreno, se han editado materiales divulgativos, se han llevado a cabo cursos de la Universidad de verano en Auritz/Burguete, una exposición y otras muchas acciones. En el área del voluntariado, más de 400 personas han colaborado en las labores de conteo de aves y sensibilización sobre el terreno. El estudio de los quirópteros en Navarra ha aportado datos sobre las zonas de mayor presencia y paso de las distintas especies. Y en el ámbito del ecoturismo, se ha elaborado una estrategia de ecoturismo para la zona de Auritz/Burguete con el fin de aprovechar los recursos ambientales del Pirineo para el desarrollo local. Campaña de observación 2018: Durante la tercera y última campaña de observación del proyecto Lindus 2, concluida a mediados de noviembre, se han monitorizado 482.065 aves, una cifra inferior a la del año pasado, en el que fueron 659.113 las aves avistadas. Las monitorizaciones arrancaron el 13 de julio –en los puertos de Somport y Portalet– y el 15 de julio –en el monte Lindus (Navarra-Baxe Nafarroa) y en el collado de Organbidexka–, y finalizaron el 31 de octubre, en el caso de los puntos de observación aragoneses, y el 15 de noviembre en Lindus y Organbidexka. A pesar de que las condiciones meteorológicas no fueron del todo favorables para su paso, el milano negro (Milvus migrans) fue el protagonista de la migración en julio. Durante ese mes se pudieron también observar, en menor número, especies de gran interés como las cigüeñas blanca (Ciconia ciconia) y negra (Ciconia nigra), cuyo paso registrado ha aumentado en las últimas décadas, el cormorán grande (Phalacrocorax carbo), el águila pescadora (Pandion haliaetus) o la culebrera europea (Circaetus gallicus). En agosto, continuó el paso de milano negro, cigüeña blanca y negra y de un gran número de abejeros europeos (Pernis apivorus) y vencejos comunes (Apus apus). Asimismo, se observaron culebreras europeas (Circaetus gallicus), busardos ratoneros (Buteo buteo), águilas pescadoras (Pandion haiaetus) y ejemplares de halcón Eleonora (Falco Eleonorae) o gavilán común (Accipiter nisus), entre otras especies. En septiembre fue especialmente intenso y diverso el paso migratorio, con dos especies destacadas en número sobre las demás: el abejero europeo y la golondrina común (Hirundo rustica). También se vieron milanos reales (Milvus milvus), cigüeñas, cormoranes grandes, aguiluchos laguneros (Circus aeruginosus) y aviones comunes (Delichon urbicum), una especie cuya población está disminuyendo en toda Europa. En la recta final de la temporada, los meses de octubre regalaron todavía grandes espectáculos en el cielo, con el paso de cerca de 200.000 palomas (Columba palumbus, Columba oenas y Columba sp.) entre Lindus, Trona y Organbidexka, y de grandes bandos de grullas (Grus grus) que en el conjunto de los cinco puntos de observación sumaron 74.798 individuos esta temporada.

Achievements (EN):

Detected changes in migratory behaviour of birds: About 2,000,000 migratory birds have been monitored through the Lindus 2 cross-border cooperation project. During 2016, 17 and 18, nearly 2 million migratory birds have been monitored through the project at Organbidexka (New Aquitaine), Lindus and Trona Mountains (Navarra-Baxe Nafarroa) and the ports of Somport and Portalet (Huesca). As this and other studies reflect, bird behavior is changing in response to changes in climate and breeding and wintering habitats. Thus, a species such as the lagoon hat (Circus aeruginosus) has advanced an average of 10 days its migratory passage. Storks and other traditionally transaharian species have begun wintering in the Iberian Peninsula rather than flying to Africa. Others, such as the common porron (Aythya perrina) or the European whistle (Anas penislope), no longer cross the Pyrenees annually, but spend their winters further north. Awareness raising, environmental education and ecotourism: In addition to bird watching, the Lindus 2 project has developed between 2016 and 2018 a study of monitoring chiroptera (bats), environmental awareness and education, volunteering and promoting ecotourism. In the field of sensitisation and training, school workshops have been carried out, observation on the ground has been explained, informative materials have been published, courses of the Summer University have been carried out in Auritz/Burguete, an exhibition and many other actions. In the area of volunteering, more than 400 people have collaborated in bird counting and awareness-raising on the ground. The study of the chiropters in Navarre has provided data on the areas of greatest presence and passage of the different species. And in the field of ecotourism, an ecotourism strategy has been developed for the Auritz/Burguete area in order to take advantage of the environmental resources of the Pyrenees for local development. Observation campaign 2018: During the third and final observation campaign of the Lindus 2 project concluded in mid-November, 482,065 birds have been monitored, a figure lower than last year, in which 659.113 birds were sighted. Also, European culebreras (Circaetus gallicus), mouse busars (Buteo buteo), fish eagles (Pandion haiaetus) and specimens of Eleonora falcon (Falco eleonorae) or common hawk (Accipiter nisus), among other species, were observed. In September the migratory passage was especially intense and diverse, with two species highlighted in number above the others: the European beekeeper and the common swallow (Hirundo rustica). They also saw royal milanos (Milvus milvus), storks, large cormorants, lake hats (Circus aeruginosus) and common aircraft (Delichon urbicum), a species whose population is declining throughout Europe. In the final stretch of the season, the months of October still gave great shows in the sky, with the passage of about 200,000 pigeons (Columba palumbus, Columba oenas and Columba sp.) between Lindus, Trona and Organbidexka, and large groups of cranes (Grus grus) that in the set of five observation points totaled 74,798 individuals this season.
