The TRANSFRON3D project will mainly address the challenges and needs related to the economy, employment, knowledge, and innovation within the POCTEFA area. The main objective of the project is the collaboration between technological centers, universities, large companies and SMEs from both sides of the border, for the production of parts with high added value through additive manufacturing processes. These technologies are still in an early development stage and require a multidisciplinary knowledge on materials, simulation, manufacturing processes, characterization, etc.… In addition, the term "additive manufacturing" encompasses several different manufacturing processes. Currently, the knowledge of each of these areas of expertise is dispersed among different companies, research centers and universities within the POCTEFA area. Combined efforts are needed to address the new challenges in order for the companies working within the collaborating territory to have a competitive offer in additive manufacturing technologies. The project will address various aspects of additive manufacturing process. The resulting outputs will include optimized designs, improved processes, and validation of the parts. The most notable result will be the production of four prototypes. This approach represents a radical change in working methods and offers advantages like a drastic reduction in the use of raw material, a high flexibility for the design of the component, and a reduced delivery time.

El proyecto Transfron3D abordará principalmente los retos y necesidades relacionados con economía, empleo, conocimiento, innovación del espacio POCTEFA. El objetivo principal del proyecto es colaborar entre los centros tecnológicos, universidades, grandes empresas y PYMES de ambos lados de la frontera para la producción de piezas de alto valor añadido mediante procesos de fabricación aditiva. Estas tecnologías aún están en una fase inicial y su desarrollo requiere un conocimiento multidisciplinar: Materiales, simulación, procesos de fabricación, caracterización, etc. Además, el concepto “fabricación aditiva” engloba varios procesos de fabricación diferentes. Actualmente, el conocimiento de cada una de estas áreas de especialización se encuentra disperso entre diferentes empresas, centros tecnológicos y universidades. Es necesario aunar esfuerzos para hacer frente a los nuevos retos para que el territorio tenga una oferta competitiva en tecnologías de fabricación aditiva. El proyecto abordará diferentes aspectos de los procesos de fabricación aditiva y se obtendrán resultados de diseños optimizados, procesos mejorados, validación de las piezas. El resultado más destacable será la fabricación de cuatro prototipos mediante fabricación aditiva. Este enfoque supone un cambio radical de metodologías de trabajo y tecnologías utilizadas. Ofrece ventajas como, reducción drástica de materia prima utilizada, flexibilidad de diseño y reducción de plazo de entrega de la primera pieza.

Le projet de TRANSFRON3D abordera les principaux défis liés à l'économie, l'emploi, le savoir-faire, et l'innovation dans l’espace POCTEFA. L'objectif principal du projet est de faire collaborater des centres technologiques, des universités, des grandes entreprises et des PME des deux côtés de la frontière, afin de fabriquer des pièces à forte valeur ajoutée grâce à des processus de fabrication d'additive. Ces technologies sont encore à un stade précoce et nécessite un savoir-faire pluridisciplinaire dans les matériaux, la simulation, les procédés de fabrication, et la caractérisation, etc... De plus, le concept de "fabrication additive" englobe plusieurs procédés différents. Actuellement, le savoir-faire de chacun de ces domaines d'expertise est dispersé entre différents acteurs. Des efforts conjoints sont nécessaires pour relever ce nouveau défi, pour que l’espace transfrontalier possède une offre compétitive de technologies de fabrication additive. Le projet abordera divers aspects liés à ces procédés. Des résultatscomme la conception optimisée de pièces, l'amélioration des procédés, la validation des pièces seront obtenus à la fin du projet. Le résultat le plus remarquable sera la fabrication de quatre prototypes. Cette approche représente un changement radical dans les méthodes de travail et les technologies de fabrication.Elle offre des avantages comme la réduction drastique de matière première utilisée, la flexibilité de conception et la réduction du delai de livraison
