Description (ES):

Las masas de pino piñonero producen un piñón comestible de gran valor comercial y demanda. Sin embargo este potencial está infrautilizado en el Pirineo oriental (Cataluña y Pyrenees-Orientales) debido a la dificultad de recolección y de estimación de la producción anual. Además, no existe una agrupación de productores que optimice los costes de recolección y posibilite concentrar la oferta. Ante esta situación, y por medio de la innovación y la colaboración entre organismos del pirineo oriental, se busca fomentar la actividad económica relacionada con el piñón mediante el estudio del mercado actual y potencial y el desarrollo de estrategias innovadoras de comercialización, incluyendo un nuevo sistema de concentración de la oferta y una plataforma transfronteriza de compra-venta de piña y piñón. Además, el proyecto busca la innovación en la cuantificación y aprovechamiento de piña mediante nuevas tecnologías, así como la adaptación, desarrollo y la rentabilidad de nuevos sistemas de recolección (semi)mecanizada de bajo impacto. Finalmente, el proyecto pretende la valorización, gestión y protección de los recursos existentes de pino piñonero en ambas regiones con la creación de una base de datos y cartografía cuantificando la oferta actual y futura, la vulnerabilidad frente a riesgos naturales (especialmente incendios) y la creación de modelos de planificación (producción + protección) específicos para esta especie el Pirineo Oriental.

Les fôrets de pin pignon produisent un fruit très demandé et à forte valeur comerciale. Cependant, ce potentiel est sous-exploité dans les Pyrénées Orientales (Catalogne et Pyrénées-Orientales) en raison de la difficulté de la collecte et de l'estimation de la production annuelle. En outre, il n'y a pas de groupement de producteurs pour optimiser les coûts de collecte et pour concentrér l'approvisionnement. Compte tenu de cette situation, et par l'innovation et la collaboration entre les organismes des pyrénées orientales, on cherche à promouvoir l'activité économique liée au pignon en étudiant le marché actuel et potentiel et le développement des stratégies novatrices de comercialisation, y compris un nouveau système de concentration de l'offre et une plateforme transfrontalière pour l'achat et la vente des cones et le pignon. En outre, le projet vise l'innovation dans la quantification et la maîtrise des nouvelles technologies pour la récolte des cônes et de l'adaptation, le développement et la rentabilité des nouveaux systèmes de collecte (semi)mécanisé de faible impact. Enfin, le projet vise à la valorisation, la gestion et la protection des ressources actuels de pin pignon dans les deux régions avec la création d'une base de données et cartographie pour quantifiquer l'offre actuelle et future, de la vulnérabilité aux risques naturels (en particulier les incendies) et la modélisation (production + protection) spécifiques pour cette essence dans les Pyrénées Orientales.

Description (EN):

Mediterranean stone pine (Pinus pinea) forests produce an edible kernel with extraordinary commercial value and high demand. However, this resource is underperforming in eastern Pyrenees (Catalunya and Pyrenees-Orientales) because of the technically complex cone harvesting and the difficult estimation of annual production. Moreover, this area lacks an organisation centralizing the production, which could optimize harvesting costs and concentrate the supply. In light of this, and based on innovation and partnership between entities of both sides of eastern Pyrenees, it is intended to boost the economic activity linked with pine nuts and cones through the study of innovative market strategies including a new system for the concentration of supply and an cross-border platform for pine nuts and cones purchase-sell. The project also aims at innovating in pine cones quantification and harvesting based on new technologies and sensors, as well as adapting, developing and assessing the cost-effectiveness of new (semi)mechanical harvesting systems. Finally, the project pretends to valorise, manage and protect the current Pinus pinea resources in both regions with the creation of a database and cartography quantifying the present and future supply, the vulnerability in front of disturbances (particularly, forest fires) and the preparation of management models (production + protection) for this species in eastern Pyrenees.
