Dans le contexte actuel qui voit les attentes sociales et les décisions des pouvoirs publics (directive 2009/128/CE) s’amplifier autour de la réduction des produits phytosanitaires conventionnels, l’utilisation des produits d’origine naturelle est plébiscitée, en France comme en Espagne, tant par les agriculteurs que par les consommateurs. Si le marché de ces produits est de fait très dynamique (+15%/an), nous manquons de références à la fois sur leur efficacité technique et sur leur profil éco-toxicologique. Catalogne et Roussillon forment une unité de production agricole homogène spécialisée en viticulture, fruits et légumes et comptent plusieurs PMEs innovantes développant des biopesticides. Pour des raisons économiques, les homologations se concentrent sur les grandes cultures, ce qui prive nos agriculteurs de solutions de protection adaptées et durables. Le projet PALVIP associe universités et structures techniques pour évaluer les produits en développement chez les PMEs partenaires. Il s’agit de proposer une approche globale et innovante (activité, mode d’action et impact environnemental), basée sur une combinaison de techniques traditionnelles et « omic » dans le but de 1) caractériser des produits de biocontrôle adaptés aux cultures méditerranéennes, 2) conseiller les agriculteurs sur l’utilisation de ces produits, 3) et ainsi favoriser sur le territoire le développement économique de deux secteurs prometteurs : l’industrie du biocontrôle et l’agriculture durable.

The current context of social expectations and public decisions in the EU (Directive 2009/128/CE) resulted in the reduction of the number of authorized conventional phytosanitary products. Moreover both growers and consumers in France and Spain have praised the use of products from natural origin for crop protection. The increase use of biocontrol products is significant (+15%/yr), but data are needed regarding their efficacy and eco-toxicological properties. Catalogne and Roussillon regions constitute a homogeneous unit of agricultural production, mainly specialized in viticulture, fruits and vegetables crops, and have several innovative SMEs that develop biopesticides. Due to economic reasons, biopesticides homologation processes are mainly focused on the field crops; consequently, our regional growers have no solutions for adapted and sustainable protection. PALVIP project brings universities and technical structures together in order to evaluate products developed by SMEs partners. The proposal consists of a global and innovative approach (activity evaluation, mode of action and environmental impact), based on a combination of conventional and "omic" approaches, in order to: 1) characterize biocontrol products adapted to Mediterranean crops, 2) advice growers about the proper use of these products, 3) and thus promote the economic development of two promising sectors in the area: the industry of biocontrol products and the sustainable agriculture.

En el contexto actual que ve las expectativas sociales y las decisiones de los poderes públicos (directiva 2009/128/CE) amplificarse alrededor de la reducción de los productos fitosanitarios convencionales, la utilización de productos de origen natural es un requerimiento, tanto en Francia como en España, tanto para agricultores como para consumidores. Si el mercado de estos productos es muy dinámico (+15%/año), aun carecemos de referencias tanto de su eficiencia técnica como de su perfil eco-toxicológico. Catalunya y el Rosellón forman una unidad de producción agrícola homogénea especializada en viticultura, frutas y verduras y cuentan con varias PYMEs innovadoras desarrollando biopesticidas. Por razones económicas, las homologaciones se concentran en los grandes cultivos, lo que priva a nuestros agricultores de soluciones de protección adaptadas y sostenibles. El proyecto PALVIP asocia universidades y estructuras técnicas para evaluar los productos en desarrollo en las PYMEs asociadas. Se trata de proponer una aproximación global y innovadora (actividad, modo de acción y impacto medioambiental), basada en una combinación de técnicas tradicionales y ómicas con el fin de 1) caracterizar los productos de biocontrol adaptados a los cultivos mediterráneos, 2) aconsejar a los agricultores sobre la utilización de estos productos, 3) y así favorecer en el territorio el desarrollo económico de dos sectores prometedores: el industrial de biocontrol y la agricultura sostenible.

BIOCONTRÔLE ET CULTURES MÉDITERRANÉENNES» SÉMINAIRE DE RESTITUTION DU PROJET PALVIP: Après 4 ans de collaboration, les partenaires du projet PALVIP ont présenté ce lundi 14 mars 2022 les résultats de leurs travaux à l’UPVD-Incube à Perpignan. Ce projet de coopération transfrontalière visait le développement de solutions de biocontrôle pour la protection des cultures végétales en milieu méditerranéen. Ce projet engagé en 2018 se termine aujourd’hui. Il réunissait 8 partenaires de part et d’autres de la frontière, associant des universités (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat de Girona, Université de Perpignan Via Domitia), des organismes de développement et d’expérimentation (Chambre d’Agriculture des Pyrénées- orientales, Institut Català de la Vinya i el Vi) et des entreprises du biocontrôle (Futureco Bioscience, AKINAO et AMP Biotech) Grâce à une complémentarité de compétences et un travail en réseau transfrontalier, PALVIP a permis de développer une approche globale de l’expérimentation et de proposer une évaluation pluridisciplinaire des solutions de biocontrôle en étudiant leur efficacité technique au champ, les mécanismes induits dans la réponse de la plante et leur impact éco-toxicologique. Le séminaire de clôture a permis de présenter l’ensemble des résultats obtenus et de débattre des suites à donner au projet. Diffusé en direct en ligne et avec traduction simultanée, il a été suivi par une centaine de personnes : entreprises du biocontrôle, chercheurs de l’INRA, agents de Chambres d’Agriculture et étudiants universitaires. BIOCONTROL AND MEDITERRANEAN CULTURES» PALVIP PROJECT RESTITUTION SEMINAR: After 4 years of collaboration, the partners of the PALVIP project presented on Monday, March 14, 2022 the results of their work at the UPVD-Incube in Perpignan. This cross-border cooperation project aimed at the development of biocontrol solutions for the protection of plant crops in the Mediterranean. This project started in 2018 ends today. It brought together 8 partners from both sides of the border, involving universities (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat de Girona, University of Perpignan Via Domitia), development and experimentation organisations (Chamber of Agriculture of the Eastern Pyrenees, Institut Català de la Vinya i el Vi) and biocontrol companies (Futureco Bioscience, Akinao and AMP Biotech) Through a complementarity of skills and cross-border networking, PALVIP allowed to develop a global approach to experimentation and to propose a multidisciplinary evaluation of biocontrol solutions by studying their technical efficiency in the field, the mechanisms induced in the response of the plant and their eco-toxicological impact. The closing seminar provided an opportunity to present all the results obtained and to discuss the follow-up to the project. Live streamed online and with simultaneous translation, it was followed by a hundred people: biocontrol companies, INRA researchers, Chambers of Agriculture agents and university students.
