wISHfUl: Ict for Smart Healthcare toUrism aims at creating a synergy between territorial tourism and healthcare offers, a real opportunity to promote a systemic approach and define a collaborative interregional network. Through a dedicated ICT platform, the territories involved in the Programme will share their health and tourist offers addressed to different target of users. This will create a coherent and integrated ecosystem inside the area, focused on the valorisation of territorial health excellences and cultural heritage that will grant to each user the definition of tour package services perfectly calibrated on their personal needs and diseases. The platform in fact has the task of combining supply and demand, in order to offer that combination of carefully measured services for the health needs of the users. The definition of these integrated tourist offers will be an opportunity for requalifying and valorising territorial points of interest, intended to make them both attractive from a tourist point of view and accessible to individuals with different pathologies. These recovered points of interest will be the core of the project pilot cases. The project, seen as opportunities deriving from the articulation of trip packages that cover health needs and cultural fruition of the area, includes three hypothetical application scenarios: 1) Territorial Health Excellences Valorisation: Enhancement of clinical and health excellence and tourist strengths in a combined offer, that aims at expanding current markets. 2) Tourist offer addressed to individuals with chronic diseases: Health needs of patients who, although not suffering from disabling diseases, have particular necessities in the definition of their tourist offer, or may need to a health support even on holiday, in the tourist area chosen. 3)Tourist offer addressed to individuals with disabling diseases, needing the definition of specific tourist routes.

Achievements (EN):

Interregional healthcare tourist network: Health Tourism is the opportunity to combine health services with a holiday. The advantage lies in the possibility of using the most advanced medical technology, the most specialised staff, efficient organisations with the shortest possible timeframe, and combining health, well-being and relaxation in a single experience. Medical treatments that do not require long hospital stays make it possible to enjoy a period of relaxation in accommodation facilities and in tailor-made itineraries, where one can come into contact with nature, culture and customs of the places visited. The project aims to propose routes that are designed to be tailor-made for chronic illnesses. The highly modular nature of the project has enabled the creation of a platform devoted to inclusiveness, allowing constant updating of health tourism routes at interregional level. - Valorization of a historical site in Maglie (IT): The Villa Comunale in the town of Maglie (IT) is the subject of a major conservation and enhancement project. It has an irregular shape and extends over 7 hectares. The land has a natural slope at the centre of the villa, with a height difference of about 6 metres. The Villa is divided into two areas, each with its own distinct character: the area near the main entrance is structured as an Italian-style garden, while the rest follows more of an English style. The intervention has taken into account the peculiarities of the project, creating a path designed to combine health, wellness and relaxation in a single experience. - Cross Border touristic routes solutions: One of the wISHfUl (Ict for Smart Healthcare toUrism) project outputs is the Web Platform, linked to the WPT2, developed by University of Salento and Municipality of Maglie. The entire partnership has contributed to populate the platform through the data collected. This innovative cross-border platform can integrate cross-Regional touristic places and health services across the Region, effectively creating a collaboration network of services providers. This platform is an innovative instrument that supports smart and accessible tourism, especially tourists with specific needs (chronic patients and people with disabilities). The platform, in fact, can provide facilitated access and tailored solutions based on the needs and expectations of the tourists with specific needs, thus increasing the accessibility of the touristic offer. By rendering the natural and cultural assets more accessible and integrated, the platform can improve their attractiveness. Also, the platform can empower users’ feedback and the possibility to add other touristic destinations, always tailored with the specifical needs of the patients. Expected Results (EN): Common action Plans for the smart management of tourist destinations to be adopted by the public authorities of the Programme area.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The main result this project expects to achieve is to increase the accessibility for tourists with special needs, by enhancing the connectivity and creating new synergies among the Region’s touristic and medical facilities and other players of the sector. Starting from the Program’s priority axis and SO 2.1, we verified the viability of the result indicators, focusing on their coherence with policy goals and outlining their characteristics. The result indicator is “Common Action Plans for the smart management of tourist destinations to be adopted by the public authorities of the Programme Area”; whereas WISHFUL outputs indicators fall within “Number of new products, services and pilot or demonstration project realized”, from the statistical data analysis algorithm to the web platform development (all outputs are enlisted in section D). They will contribute to the programme result indicator by providing integrated, inclusive and smartly managed services and products.
