Description (EN):

3D-IMP-ACT will promote cultural heritage among Interreg IPA CBC Italy–Albania–Montenegro countries in order to valorise the existing natural and cultural assets in a systematic, comprehensive and wide way, affecting protection and quality of the environment as basis of any kind of touristic promotion. It aims at introducing novel approaches regarding the cultural heritage promotion towards smart and sustainable economic development, destination management and marketing, improving the territorial attractiveness, smart management and touristic development of the cultural heritage in Italy (Puglia), Albania and Montenegro, by assessment and enhancement of the inter-regional relations among historical, architectural and archaeological sites. Particularly, the project will focus on the identification of “real” networks connecting sites, buildings and routes, based on historical, environmental and technical characteristics, available territorial infrastructures, as well as on transversal development strategies and polices. Thus, it will address the creation of digital products, 3D VR/AR models and tours, 3D printed artefacts, 3D immersive and creative environments, in order to establish “virtual” networks connecting the above-mentioned places. The final goal is to represent the most relevant sites as “nodes” of a “tangible” framework, featured by trekking paths and cyclist routes, as well as of an “intangible” framework, featured by digital contents that allow immersive and entertaining experiences from one site to the other. The digitalization of different tangible cultural assets including castles, old buildings and the design of new paths for cyclists or pedestrians will help the touristic operators, municipalities, heritage institutions, as well as policy makers at national, regional, or local levels, representatives from research communities, heritage practitioner from the public or private sector. Information added on 2020-05-14, regarding the mitigation of the effects of COVID-19 (the coronavirus pandemic that started in 2019) (English language only): This project, focused on tourism valorisation of cultural and natural heritage also through 3D and digital technologies, made its technological assets available for fight against COVID-19, and through its partner Polytechnic University of Tirana printed 3D protective face shield masks, which were distributed to the Mother Theresa Hospital in Tirana.

Expected Results (EN): Common action Plans for the smart management of tourist destinations to be adopted by the public authorities of the Programme area.

Expected Outputs (EN):

1- Development of inter-regional networks of historic sites in the reference territories. Common action plans for smart management of such tourist destinations might come from the exploitation of the networks linking the sites: the “real” network of trekking paths and cyclist routes, eventually connected by sea and ground transportations and the “digital” network of immersive and entertaining environments that allow experiencing the visits from one site to the other. 2- Development of innovative fruition and enhancement models and products. The development of 3D VR/AR models for a network of sites will act as guideline and best practice of fruition and valorization to be potentially replicated in different sites and regions. It promotes common action plans where smart management comes from technological evolution, digital innovation and creative industry against a traditional vision based on territorial boundaries, cluster initiatives and conventional perceptive experiences.
