Les villes méditerranéennes font face aux mêmes défis autour la mobilité durable, tout en présentant des particularités selon leur contexte territorial et le type de touristes qu’elles attirent. Ainsi l’adoption d’une approche transnationale est le clé du succès de MOTIVATE. Contrairement aux méthodes de collecte de données traditionnels, où les citoyens et les touristes sont traités comme de sources des données "passives", MOTIVATE promue leur participation active au collecte et la gestion des données de transport, l’identification des problèmes et l’ évaluation des mesures proposés. MOTIVATE vise à un nouveau modèle de PMUD, basé sur l'exploitation des médias sociaux et des applications de production participative. Le modèle commun pour mettre en œuvre ces techniques, créés et testées dans le cadre des actions pilotes, ainsi que le protocole de transfert qui sera produit et comprendra processus, outils et techniques afin d’assurer que les résultats du projet sont transférés à d’autres villes d’une manière efficace et cohérente, soutiendront le développement et amélioration du PMUD dans la région méditerranéenne. MOTIVATE a pour but d'aider les décideurs à comprendre les problèmes de mobilité que les résidents et les touristes confrontent, ainsi que les interventions les plus acceptées et durables, en utilisant des moyens de collecte et d’analyse des données rentables. Cela rendra le développement, la mise à jour et le suivi de PMUD beaucoup plus ciblée et efficace.

MED cities although facing the common challenge of developing a sustainable mobility background, they also present particularities depending on the territorial context and the type of tourists they attract. For these reasons, a sound transnational approach, is the key to guarantee MOTIVATE’s success. Unlike the traditional data collection methods, where citizens or visitors are “passive” data sources, the innovative approach of MOTIVATE lies in their active involvement in transport data collection/management, problems identification and proposed measures evaluation. MOTIVATE promotes a new model of SUMP development. The new model is based on the exploitation of social media and crowd-sourcing apps. The common model of implementing and applying these techniques that will be created and updated after the pilot testing cases, as well as, the transferring protocol that will be created and will include, processes, techniques and tools to ensure the efficient and consistent way of transferring the projects' results to other cities, will support the SUMP development and enhancement in all the Med area. MOTIVATE intends to help decision makers to gain a strong understanding of the main mobility problems that residents and tourists face and the most accepted and sustainable interventions, using cost effective ways of data collection and analysis and this will make the development, update and monitoring of SUMP much more targeted and efficient.

Achievements (EN):

During this fourth reporting period, 1 physical project meeting was held in Thessaloniki on the 28th and 29th November, hosted by CERTH. Even if this meeting was not originally scheduled, partners deemed it necessary in order to cover the long time distance from the previous project meeting in Rhodes to the following meeting foreseen in April. From the administrative side, a second request of amendment for a six months extension was elaborated and the 3rd payment claim was submitted. From the technical side, partners kept on testing internally both the platform and the APP and sending feedback to CERTH for fixing some final detected bugs or problems. CERTH monitored at a weekly basis each pilot site's participation in the platform in order to tackle all possible barriers occur.From the communication side, the 3rd issue of Newsletter was released at the beginning of July. Rhodes presented MOTIVATE in the context of “World Tourism Day” on 29th September at City Hall Square of Rhodes Island; CMA organized a MOTIVATE dissemination activity in a local univeristy during September 18th 2018, as part of the Europen Mobility week activities in Almada and finally CERTH presented the MOTIVATE project during the Researcher’s Night that took place at Thessaloniki’s Concert Hall premises, attended approximately by 4000 people and during HIT’s OPEN DAY (November 2018), organized by CERTH, in HIT’s premises. The project was represented at the GO SUMP mid-term event and at the Smart City Expo conference that took place in Barcelona on the 12th and 13th November.
