L’annoncé neutralisation de tous processus de certification environnementale dans UE par1seul outil Empreinte Environnementale du Produit(EEP), va changer les règles du Marché, les stratégies de ventes, et la façon d’introduire innovations verts dans la chaîne d'approvisionnement.L’Agroindustrie,grande utilisatrice de ressources naturelles(énergie, eau..),est fortement touchée par ces changements. DG-ENV vient de fournir, par benchmark environnementaux, des références pour 1liste de produits alimentaires, pour définir qui est durable et qui pas, dans perspective de règlement EU.Ceci est 1défi pour le MED, où l'agroalimentaire est 1er pilier économique&est toujours 1RIS3:si aucune mesure est prise via EEP, le secteur agroalimentaire de la zone MED pourrait souffrir d’1 crise de compétitivité. PEFMED a pour but de tester la pertinence du EEP dans 9MED clusters agroalimentaires-services logistiques (100 PMEs) sur 1gamme de produits.Objectif final est 1)promouvoir la diffusion d’écoinnovation systémiques ciblées qui rendront le secteur + vert, 2)augmenter la valeur ajoutée des produits à la bonne EEP, combinant les EEP standards avec les empreintes socio-économiques propres des produits.1méthode opérationnelle pionnière & 9rapports de tests basés sur ACV sont produits dans 9systèmes agroalimentaires pilotes, alors qu’1outil transférable est assuré par 1Communauté transnationale de pratiques, pour transférer la méthode EEP basée sur l’impact du territoire aux 9nouveaux clusters.

Next neutralization of all existing environmental certification schemes in EU with 1 single Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) will change Internal Market rules, strategies to consumers & the way of introducing green innovations in industrial supply chain. Agrofood is highly exposed to this change, being affected by an high use of natural resources (energy, water..)& DG-ENV has just provided specific environment benchmarks for a list of agrofood products defining – in the perspective of EU Reg, what is sustainable & not. This is a challenge for MED where agrofood is the 1° economic pillar & is all over a RIS3: if no measures towards PEF-compliance production are spread, MED agrofood sector could suffer a breakdown in competitiveness. PEFMED aims to test the PEF-compliance distance-to-target in 9testimonial MED agrofood clusters & supply chains (100 companies) upon a range of products, with the final aim of (1) foster targeted systemic ecoinnovation interventions to green the agrofood sector (also galvanizing the RIS3 goals related to innovation in agrofood industrial production) & 2)raise the market value of PEF-compliant productions, combining PEF standards with endogenous socio economic footprint aspects. 1 pioneering operational methods & 9 LCA-based stress tests report are produced in the 9 pilot agrofood systems, while 1 trasnferability is assured by 1 transnational Community of Practices to embed PEF territory-based method & knowledge vouchering to new 9 clusters.

Achievements (EN):

WP1: The 5th meeting of the SC, Partner and QMB was held in Lisbon on the 27th November, with participation of all Partners. A 3 months project extension was requested to complete some of the activities, especially some dissemination and trasferring events.WP2 Communication: The external stakeholders DB was updated thanks to the organization or participation to events. Articles and press release about PEFMED activities were published on Partners’ websites, newsletters and on specialized e-magazines. Dissemination material was produced by all Partners on the basis of dedicated own or common templates. The project social media, blog and MED Platform were updated. Some PEFDAYS were organized and a few Partners participated to thematic conferences with a speech or a project corner, to some events organized by the horizontal project SYNGII and to an event organized by Greenomed, a modular project of the Green Growth Community. The pilot phase of WP3 was concluded successfully in all 10 pilot companies (1 additional spanish company tested PEF, with respect to the AF) with the delivery of PEF reports and socio-economic reports by all Partners. The ecoinnovative improvement measures and the supporting funds were identified with the support of both sector experts and S3 managers. On the basis of the results of the pilot phase, Business Transition Workshops were organised in each pilot country and for each pilot company, with the support of all Partners and LCA experts. Moreover, Business Plans were developed for each tested company, which could be useful for increasing their competitiveness in European and national markets and increase their market areas across Europe. One of the main strengths of the project was the strong and successful cooperation among all involved actors, including Partners, LCA experts, companies, sector experts and S3 and cluster manager.WP4: During RP4 partners, have started to work on the endorsement of the key elements of the transnational methodology to bring the messages out of the PEFMED partnership and encourage new agrofood clusters to apply the PEFMED method. Most of the partners progressed well in running the leadership and changeover workshop and 7 events were organized (6 in RP and 1 in RP5), aimed at promoting the testing phase outcomes to new food and beverage sectors. One of the main achievements was the identification of the new clusters. Partners almost completed the production of the video elicitation testimonials.
