Description (EN):

The project "Increase of energy efficiency by Electric MOBIlity in the CITY" (EMOBICITY) seeks to improve the low-carbon economy policies suggested by the project partners, so as to facilitate the take up of innovative electric mobility (e-mobility) sustainable measures, by providing the necessary expertise and showing the benefits of e-mobility, thus generating high leverage and ensuring strong commitment to sustainable mobility with low-carbon transport. The project will demonstrate how cities can reduce their carbon emissions with the promotion and facilitation of innovative electric vehicles’ use. Within the Interreg Europe programme the project objective will be achieved by supporting policy learning among relevant policy organisations that will participate in the project consortium, with a view to improving the performance of national/ regional/ local development policy instruments. The following enhancements & innovations are proposed to be examined during the project so as to be included in policy instruments: - Legislative amendments to overcome current obstacles for e-mobility integration. - Improvement of Charging/Taxation Models - Energy price for charging. - Specialised Regional policies for the regional development of e-mobility. - Promotion of e-mobility in low integration fields. - Integration of incentives in policy instruments to stimulate e-mobility by private users. - Inner city logistics and autonomous driving. - Integration of RES in the energy mix for EV charging. EMOBICITY aims to strengthen the capacities of all key-stakeholders on e-mobility, especially regarding policy making, through workshops, study visits and peer reviews, as well as to raise public awareness by open campaigns and other communiaction activities.

Achievements (EN):

In terms of activities, the project has organised a total of 43 policy learning events. It has also identified 26 good practices, produced 5 action plans and led to the increased capacity of 60 people. In terms of results, the project has succeeded in improving 5 regional development policies for a total amount of funds influenced of EUR 20,216,280. 00.

Expected Results (EN):

The overall objective of the EMOBICITY project is to improve the policy instruments suggested by each partners, so as to facilitate the integration of e-mobility as well as the take-up of innovative e-mobility sustainable measures. Thus, the project will serve the transition to a low-carbon economy, focusing on the transport sector, responsible for over 25% of GHG emissions in the EU. In order for EMOBICITY to achieve its main objective, the following sub-objectives are set: - Facilitate capacity building of policy makers on: a) The concept, options and benefits of e-mobility, b) Specialized e-mobility topics, c) Policy recommendations for improvement tailored to each partner case, including incentives for private users and innovative funding models, to obtain a clear vision and know-how for improving and enriching national and regional policies to achieve effective implementation. - Increase of knowledge and awareness of public authorities (regions, municipalities) on the concept of e-mobility as a tool for low-carbon economy, climate change mitigation, environmental & health protection and social welfare, to facilitate informed decision-making and to promote policies about air quality improvement and sustainability through e-mobility. - Strengthen know-how, dialogue and synergies of all relevant local stakeholders, both from the public and the private sector, to obtain common understanding of the obstacles and the ways to overcome these, so as to contribute to the boost of entrepreneurship related to e-mobility. - Awareness raising and enhancement of publicly available information to amplify citizens’ preference for e-mobility as one basic choice of daily transport (i.e. e-cars, e-bikes) and to ensure their support and acceptance of electric mobility infrastructure (vehicles, charging stations with RES), so as to lead to increased demand and thus accelerate policy procedures for implementation.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The outputs of the project will be available for use by city authorities, transport authorities, development agencies and financial institutions that are involved in urban transport and sustainable mobility decisions and investments. The project results will be also linked to networks and platforms such as UITP, ELTIS, CIVITAS, etc.. The project outputs are: - Seven (7) Thematic Workshops: 2 in Greece (CRES); 1 in Croatia (EIHP); 1 in Romania (NWRDA); 2 in Portugal (Azores and ADENE); 1 in Germany (RMNH). - Seven (7) Study visits: The areas will be selected by the consortium; as back-to-back events with the thematic workshops. - Seven (7) project meetings: as back-to-back events with the thematic workshops. - Thirty (30) Meetings of Stakeholder Groups: Five (5) Meetings of local stakeholder groups in each participating country / per policy instrument addressed (EL, HR, RO, PT, DE) per semester of Phase 1. - Policy learning platform Report: identifying good practices on e-mobility policies. - Establishment of 3 Linkages and Synergies with relevant networks and platforms. - Five (5) Peer reviews: 1 in each participating country / per policy instrument addressed. - Peer Review Report. - Five (5) e-mobility Action Plans: 1 Action Plan per policy instrument addressed. - Communication Strategy. - Project visual identity (logo, poster, power point, website). - Eighteen (18) press releases: on e-mobility policy making (3 by each partner). - Five (5) open information events: 1 in each participating country / per policy instrument addressed. - Three (3) internet Social media (i.e. youtube, instragram, facebook). - Twelve (12) Participations at National / European Mobility events; 2 participations per partner at least. - Material (introduction, minutes, conclusions) of thematic workshops, study visits and peer reviews. - Minutes of stakeholder group meetings. - Minutes of project meetings. - Progress Reports. Dissemination material will be available in English and in the official languages of the participating countries. The results of the project are summarized below: - Increased capacity and know-how of policy makers on e-mobility so as to improve policy instruments at a national / regional level. - Awareness raising of public authorities on the concept of e-mobility as a tool for low-carbon economy, to facilitate informed decision-making and to promote policies about air quality improvement and sustainability. - Strengthened know-how, dialogue and synergies of all relevant local stakeholders, both from the public and the private sector, to boost of entrepreneurship related to e-mobility. - Awareness raising of general public to amplify citizens’ preference for e-mobility as one basic choice of daily transport and to ensure their acceptance of e-mobility infrastructure.
