The ASIA-CLEAN project is targeting to support export efforts of Finnish and Estonian companies to do successful business in Northeastern China and Malaysia. Substantial focus of the ASIA-CLEAN is in solutions aiming to minimize anthropogenic emissions into environment. The ASIA-CLEAN project provides following support for the companies: 1. Business matchmaking and market information sharing events. 2. Coaching the companies on cultural and other local specialties of those distant markets. 3. Advising in technical adaptation of products to the target market needs. 4. Support in communication and networking with local potential customers. 5. Seeking business leads on the target markets. 6. Advising and supporting in development of sales. The matchmaking, market information sharing and coaching activities are open for all companies interested in the target markets of the ASIA-CLEAN. The project is aiming to achieve at least 100 of companies to participate those activities. From those 100 of companies the ASIA-CLEAN will choose 30 for more individual advising and supporting mechanisms. From those 30 companies 15 will get relevant business leads and will be supported in achieving sales. Finally, 10 companies who have participated into individual support activities of the ASIA-CLEAN, will achieve sales in the target markets. By active external communication the ASIA-CLEAN is aiming to achieve overall 250 companies and other relevant stakeholders. The ASIA-CLEAN consortium – Green Net Finland, Turku Science Park and Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol – represents a solid export business support, technical and cultural expertise as well as wide extended networks. This is how ASIA-CLEAN is capable to enable durability, scalability and transferability of the main outputs of the project. The project partners will create new networks in the target markets aiming for a long-term collaboration.

Achievements (EN):

ASIA-CLEAN expedided cleantech export. The goal of the ASIA-CLEAN project was to increase the export of Finnish and Estonian cleantech, healthtech, smart city, environmental and energy technology companies to the project's target areas in China (Jinan and Shangdong regions and Tianjin) and Malaysia. Project implementation started almost the same time than all borders were closed due to the COVID19 pandemic. This created challenges to project implementation when travelling to target market was impossible. Project, however, found new ways and solutions to implement the project as well as ways to create and have a frequent contact with the representatives from the target markets. One of the most useful and valuable solution was to have active business experts at local market who were able to act as a node between the target market clients and project partners as well as ASIA-CLEAN project companies. There was a bit over 200 companies who received support and knowledge about entering to Chinese and Malaysian markets through the project activities. The most valuable and interesting achievements of the ASIA-CLEAN were the realized deals and tailored export benefitting achievements. Altogether 12 deals were obtained. Eight of them focusing on China and four on Malaysia.

Expected Results (EN): R1.3. Number of cluster co-operations exporting to new markets

Expected Outputs (EN):

The ASIA-CLEAN project has set the following result indicators: 1. 100 enterprises participating the project activities will understand the logic and structure of the target markets better and will be trained to operate wisely on them. They will form a pool of companies or a meta-cluster together. 2. 30 enterprises will be trained further to understand their own competitiveness, the main players on the market and potential customers for their products 3. 9 enterprises will introduce new-to-the-market solutions during the project 4. 15 enterprises will get new business leads 5. 10 enterprises (SMEs) will achieve new sales in target markets The ASIA-CLEAN project main results contribute directly to the program result indicator of cluster co-operations exporting to new markets outside EU/EFTA with focus in innovative products in cleantech. The ASIA-CLEAN consortium covers cleantech clusters in Finland and Estonia and gives strong basis to build a strong pool of companies/meta-cluster in cleantech, which are capable to export to the chosen target markets. The companies will be trained and pushed to widen their international business activities to cover also those market areas where economical, cultural and general principles may be remarkable different compared to markets they have used to operate. Some of the companies may even be totally inexperienced in international selling and promotion activities. ASIA-CLEAN project will be beneficial for them also because it will give multinational training of best practices in international business. Different countries have different level of know-how, experience and methods in internationalizing activities. This project will also give the possibility to evaluate and compare the efficiency of work practices in other countries and clusters. The best practices can be adapted and used by other participants.
