One factor impeding the region’s development possibilities is the current inadequacy of the existing transport capacities across the local segment of the state border between Austria and Hungary, restricting growth and development in the areas along the border. The opening of the border crossing point between Rajka and Deutsch Jahrndorf will provide shorter access to the TEN-T network primarily for Neusiedl am See (a tertiary junction) and the nearby villages (of Németjárfalu, Lajtakáta, Lajtakörtvélyes and Mosonújfalu). The border crossing point to be constructed enables improved access to Rajka and the M15 TEN-T network element, resulting in a major improvement of the accessibility of the region as a whole. In addition to the project’s social and economic impacts, it may – through improved mobility and communication possibilities for residents of the municipalities along the border – also make a direct contribution to the strengthening of the micro region’s population retaining capability and to an expansion of commercial and economic processes. Development projects need to be implemented on both sides of the border to stop the process of the regions along the border becoming more and more marginalised. In the case of cross-border road development projects cooperation is indispensable from both technical and social perspectives. The opening of the new border crossing point will improve the border segments’ permeability for local residents and tourists alike. The construction of a road of a good technical state will enable quicker and safer transport between the two municipalities. The new approach taken by the project lays in the fact that we will achieve improvements in the conditions of the TEN-T network connections by actual physical implementation for the village of Neusiedl am See and other nearby municipalities.

Ein limitierender Faktor bei der Entwicklung der Region ist die derzeit nicht ausreichende Durchgängigkeit der Grenzstrecke zwischen Österreich und Ungarn. Die Öffnung der Grenzverbindung zwischen Rajka und Deutsch Jahrndorf kann die Erreichbarkeit des TEN-T Netzes verkürzen, insbesondere im Falle von Neusiedl am See (Verkehrsknoten dritten Ranges) sowie der umliegenden Gemeinden (Deutsch Jahrndorf, Gattendorf, Pama, Neudorf bei Parndorf). Der zu errichtende Grenzübergang bietet einen besseren Zugang in Richtung Rajka und des zum TEN-T Netzwerk gehörenden Elements M15, wodurch die Erreichbarkeit der Region bedeutend verbessert wird. Die Entwicklungsmaßnahme kann über ihre gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen hinaus, durch die besseren Möglichkeiten in den Bereichen Mobilität und Vernetzung für die Bevölkerung , unmittelbar dazu beitragen, dass die in dieser Region lebende Bevölkerung nicht abwandert und dass die Handels- und Wirtschaftsprozesse verbessert werden. Um die Verdrängung der Grenzregionen an die Peripherie zu stoppen, sind Entwicklungsmaßnahmen auf beiden Seiten der Grenze zu setzen. Im Falle der grenzüberschreitenden Straßenentwicklungsmaßnahmen ist eine Zusammenarbeit aus technischem und gesellschaftlichem Aspekt unerlässlich. Durch die Eröffnung des Grenzübergangs verbessert sich die Durchgängigkeit der Grenzstrecken für die Einwohner der Region, sowie für Touristen. Durch den Ausbau der Straße wird eine schnellere und sicherere Verkehrsverbindung zwischen den zwei Gemeinden ermöglicht. Die neue Herangehensweise des Projektes besteht darin, dass durch die tatsächliche physische Realisierung eine Verbesserung der Voraussetzungen der TEN-T Netzverbindungen für Neusiedl am See und für die umliegenden Siedlungen erreicht werden kann.

A térség fejlődési lehetőségeiben hátráltató tényező az osztrák-magyar határszakasz jelenleg nem kielégítő átjárhatósága, amely a határ menti területek fejlődésének gátja. A Rajka és Deutsch Jahrndorf közötti határkapcsolat megnyitása, a TEN-T hálózathoz való közúti hozzáférést képes rövidíteni elsősorban Neusiedl am See (harmadrendű csomópont) és a környező települések számára (Németjárfalu, Lajtakáta, Lajtakörtvélyes, Mosonújfalu). A létesítendő határátmenet Rajka és az M15-ös TEN-T hálózati elem irányába nyújt jobb eljutási lehetőséget, ami által jelentősen javul a térség elérhetősége. A fejlesztés társadalmi-gazdasági hatásain keresztül, a határ közeli települések lakosságának jobb mobilitási és kapcsolattartási lehetőségei révén közvetlenül hozzájárulhat a mikrotérség lakosságmegtartó képességének növekedéséhez, valamint a kereskedelmi és gazdasági folyamatok bővüléséhez. A határ menti térségek perifériára szorulásának megállításához a határ mindkét oldalán szükséges fejlesztéseket eszközölni. A határon átívelő útfejlesztések esetében az együttműködés elengedhetetlen műszaki és társadalmi szempontból is. Az új határátkelő megnyitásával a térségben élők és a turisták számára javul a határszakaszok átjárhatósága. A jó műszaki állapotú út kiépítése lehetővé teszi a gyorsabb és biztonságosabb közlekedést a két település között. A projekt új megközelítése abban áll, hogy tényleges fizikai megvalósítással érjük el a TEN-T hálózati kapcsolatok feltételeinek javítását, Neusiedl am See és a környező települések számára.
