O projeto irá apresentar soluções criativas para problemas comuns e desenvolver mecanismos inovadores para maximizar as oportunidades conjuntas.

AtlanticCultureScapes desarrollará experiencias susceptibles de ser comercializadas, a partir del concepto de Patrimonio Cultural Intangible (PCI), que mejorarán las vidas de quien vive, trabaja o visita el Espacio Atlántico. Se llevará a cabo un análisis de la oferta turística de PCI con el fin de proporcionar principios rectores para el crecimiento económico sostenible. El proyecto ofrecerá soluciones creativas a problemas comunes y desarrollará mecanismos innovadores para maximizar las oportunidades comunes.

AtlanticCultureScapes développera des expériences vendables ancrées dans le Patrimoine Culturel Immatériel (PCI) pour améliorer la vie de ceux qui vivent, travaillent ou visitent l'Espace Atlantique. Une analyse de l'offre touristique du PCI sera réalisée afin de fournir des principes directeurs pour une croissance économique durable. Le projet fournira des solutions créatives aux problèmes communs et développera des mécanismes innovants pour maximiser les opportunités communes.

The Atlantic Area regions have a rich intangible cultural heritage but the ‘intangible’ element of cultural heritage has received relatively little attention in Atlantic Area. AtlanticCultureScapes will focus on enhancing the tourism offering through the sustainable integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) thereby stimulating increased economic gain from tourism along the Atlantic Area, which will enhance the lives of those who live, work or visit its regions. The project will deliver creative solutions and develop innovative mechanisms to maximise common opportunities, by supporting stakeholders to collaborate in order to offer visitors a truly unique and regional experience reflective of the Atlantic culture, heritage and identity. The project will generate an inventory of ICH entrepreneurs in partner areas and from this base stimulate proactive collaboration amongst networks of entrepreneurs working in this field and support them in their development. The products will be conglomerated into an Atlantic Area Route, allowing the project to raise the profile of the sector through transnationally organised marketing including publicising the ICH inventory and seeking the involvement of other entrepreneurs across the Atlantic Area.

Achievements (EN):

The Atlantic Area regions have a rich intangible cultural heritage. The AtlanticCultureScape project enhances the tourism offering through the sustainable integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), thereby stimulating increased economic gain, which improves the lives of those who live, work or visit the Atlantic regions. The aim is to offer visitors a truly unique and regional experience reflective of the Atlantic culture, heritage, and identity. The project delivers creative and innovative solutions to maximise common opportunities, by encouraging networks and entrepreneurs working in this field to collaborate with each other, and assist them in bringing these products to market. Thus, AtlanticCultureScape carried out an inventory of ICH entrepreneurs, which received guidance and integrated the management of destinations and their governance. A Marketing Plan was also prepared to promote the recognition of ICH as an economic asset worthy of protection by key policymakers at local, national, and Atlantic area levels. The aim is thus to achieve greater value by the local community of cultural assets and enhanced community cohesion. In terms of tourism, it is expected an enhanced enjoyment of authentic cultural experiences leading to return visits and enhanced integration of ICH sector into the destination and its management, resulting as well on enhanced confidence in ICH entrepreneurs. The delivery of an Atlantic Area Route allows thus to raise the profile of the sector through transnationally organised marketing, including publicising the ICH inventory and seeking the involvement of several entrepreneurs across the Atlantic Area. "Three years ago I had been happily making lace amongst a small group of local Lace-makers and yet I was also acutely aware of the need to do something more and possibly something different to safeguard this beautiful craft from dying out in the locality. The Atlantic Culturescape project couldn’t have been timelier. I knew I was on the right pathway pretty much straight away as the ethos of the programme really spoke to me in terms of the importance of sharing the story of a place through the traditions and the customs of her people” Rosie Finnegan-Bell Lace, Love & Forget-me-nots.

The main cultural results will be: • Enhanced recognition of ICH as an economic asset worthy of protection by key policymakers at local, national and Atlantic Area levels. • Enhanced vibrancy in ICH entrepreneurs. • Greater profile/viability of ICH events and processes across Atlantic Area. The main community results will be: • Enhanced valuing by local community of cultural assets. • Enhanced vibrancy and community cohesion. The main tourism results will be: • Enhanced enjoyment of authentic cultural experiences leading to return visits. • Enhanced integration of ICH sector into the destination and its management. • Enhanced confidence in ICH entrepreneurs.

Expected Outputs (EN):

• Set of Guiding Principles to help establish sustainability within the ICH entrepreneurial sector. • Inventory of ICH Entrepreneurs within partner/associate partner areas and used for the promotion of ICH and the Route. • Networks of ICH entrepreneurs signed up to the guidance within each partner area, integrated into destination management and its governance. • A series of ICH products jointly developed with the networks which pilot the Guiding Principles – learning from pilots to be assessed by Partnership and where appropriate integrated into next version of Principles. • Jointly produced ICH Marketing Plan to identify key target markets and plan actions. • Transnational Marketing of ICH Route to identified target markets.
